The Doofus deck was no where to be during a lightning storm
I invited the Whiskey Swilling Cigar Chomping Football Society and Glee Club over to watch the Lions on Saturday. A huge thunderstorm broke out just before kick off. Braving the elements (we were sitting outside in a steel cage of a gazebo covered by nylon with electronics plugged in) we saw the Lions get destroyed 45-28. How bad were the Lions – the Saints had zero punts for the game. Oh well, at least the whiskey swilling and cigar chomping went off well. With the Lion playing defense like a WAC school there was little to celebrate and the glee club stood mute.
But at least the Mega Bets kept its winning streak intact as:
Week 19 Mega Bets Recap:
Denver +8.5 vs Pittsburgh – That was easy! After holding the Steelers to 2 field goals in the first quarter, the Broncos exploded for 20 points in the second quarter. Up 14 points and getting 8.5 made the half time meal go down real easy. Pittsburgh came back to tie it with 3 minutes left in the game. I figured the only way Denver could blow the spread is if Pittsburgh scored a FG on the first possession and then did a pick six under the new overtime rules (which allow a team a possession if the other team scores a FG on its first possession). The point became moot when Denver won the toss and elected to receive. Now they could only lose by a max of 6 points. The point became really moot when the Broncos scored on the first play causing the shortest OT in NFL history. Final score Tebows 29 Rburgers 23 WIN

Dnver vs Pittsburgh over 33.5 – As expected the Steeler defense was a sieve. Once the Steeler offense got going in the fourth quarter the over was in the bag. Final points 52 WIN
LSU +1.0 vs Alabama – Hey Miles – your play calling sucked. LSU started out trying to outrun Bama to the sides. No dice. So they try passing to the sides. Yeah – that fooled ‘em. It didn’t work either. For that matter - nothing worked. LSU didn’t even cross midfield until the fourth quarter. The LSU defense was on the field all day as Bama would drive down, stall and kick a field goal. In fact, until the the final garbage TD by Bama late in the fourth quarter, the total number of points was as the same as the first game (15) just all the points were scored by the Tide. Crap! Should have gone with the under. Final score $aban 22 Les is Less 0 LOSS
Going 2-1 brings the post GO JUMBO record to a sizzling 17-7 since the GO JUMBO weekend. Good thing we are going to Vegas earlier next year.
With the 2011 College football season over all that’s left is the NFL playoffs. The fun is heating up in the pros and some interesting match ups
This week I will go with –
Week 20 Mega Bets:
Denver +13.5 @ New England – Pittsburgh’s defense may have been overrated but New England’s is just plain bad. Yeah, I know, New England thumped the Broncos by 18 in Mile High a mere four weeks ago, but remember – Denver jumped to a 16-7 lead (the Pats always seem to start slow) then fumbled the pigskin away 3 times in the second quarter leading to 17 Patriot points. Denver went away from the run game playing right into New Englnd’s hands. This time Tebow’s boys will hang on to the ball and keep the game close.
NY Giants @ Green Bay over 53.0 – These two scored a combined 73 points back in week 13. It’s not like much has changed much since then although New York’s best cover corner Aaron Ross may miss the game with a concussion. The game will be in Lambeau but the weather shouldn’t be a factor. It will be cloudy, 26 degrees with a slight breeze. Should be a high scoring fun affair.
