Does this sweet new lid negate the Big Al rule?
College Coaching Carousel Update:
OK - now the question is - Does the Big Al rule follow Randy Edsall?Maryland fired the ACC coach of the year Ralph Friedgen and replaced him with the Big East COY UConn's Randy Edsall. Great hire by the Terps. I was going to have Maryland on my do not bet list if they hired Mike Leach - but now I'm going to test the expanded Big Al rule and take a few shots with Maryland next year.
Clemson fans would love to have Big Ralph as their OC next year after HC Dabo Swinney cleaned house on the offensive side. I think Ralphie's like being the big guy (groan) and finds another HC gig.

Going to have to place a few wagers on Miami (OH) Red(skins)Hawks too after they tapped MSU OC Don Treadwll as HC. Miami (OH) had a surprsingly good year upsetting Northern IL for the MAC championship. The position came open when RedHawk HC Mike Haygood split for Pitt but on the way assaults his girlfriend in a custody argument - gets charged with a felony and loses that job. That's a faster hire/fire than Mike (It's rolling baby!) Price and George (gotta spice up that resume) O'Leary.
Pitt's HC coaching search now goes to ludicrous speed. Rumor is that Cincinnati Begal HC (Starvin) Marvin Lewis may not wait to be fired and is pursuing the position.
No word on where Auburn OC Gus Malzahn will end up. With Maryland no longer in play - he's probably waiting for a couple of position to open up first (UM, Stanford, Pitt).
Week 18 Results:
Great week for the BBofG as it went 6-2. To recap:
West Virginia -3 vs NC State - NC State 23 WVU 7 LOSS
OK State -3 vs Arizona - OK State 36 Arizona 10 WIN
North Carolina -1 vs Tennessee - UNC 30 Tenn 27 2OT WIN
South Carolina -3 vs Florida State - FSU 26 Cocks 17 LOSS
Central Florida +6.5 vs Georgia - UCF 10 Georgia 6 WIN
Mississippi State -3.5 vs Michigan - MSU 52 Michigan 14 WIN
Wisconsin +3 vs TCU - TCU 21 Wiscy 19 WIN
Detroit/Minnesota Under 42 – Detroit 20 Minny 13 WIN
Week 19 Part One:
Bowl Mania shifts down a few gears as there are only one game per day and seven games left. Only going to go with one Mega Bet on the bowls this week:
Nevada -7.5 vs Boston College - BC has a solid run defense but has not gone up against anything near wht Nevada brings in the Pistol. The eagles have been beaten by QB's who can run and throw - NC State's Russell Wilson and Va Tech's Tyrod Taylor. BC's offense is one dimensional led by RB Montel Harris. Harris is questionable for the gaem
after getting his knee scoped in late November. This will be no contest if Nevada is motivated. After last year's bowl blow out (losing to SMU 45-10) the WildCat's will be fired up.
