The BBofG got a thorough Spring Cleaning
It's almost here. College football kicks off Thursday Sept 1st with 15 games and another 2 (including Michigan State taking on the Penguins of Youngstown State) on Friday.
For those able to get to Vegas Baby! before the season starts - you can try your hand at playing the Over/Under on season wins for both College ball and the NFL.

I've put up the Man Cave II. Beverages and Cigars on my deck Sept 3
I was suprised that Michigan was only at 7. I was hoping that Hoke-a-mania would be in full swing and I could take the under. I'll stay away from that line.
Utah moves into the Pac 12 but should get at least 8 wins. They should be 3-0 outside the conference with games against Pitt, Montana State and BYU (that will be a good game) leaving a 5-4 record in conference. Very doable.
For the under - I'll take UNC (sorry Ellis). the Stillehto Heels are going to be a train wreck this year. Who fires their HC the week before practice starts?? It's going to get ugly in Chapel Hill.
And how embarrasing for UNLV. The line is 2.5 for the home team. Still - I don't see any lay ups for the Runnin' Rebs. Even 1AA Southern Utah wil give them a game. New Mexico should be a win but that's about it. I'll pass.
The NFL lines are especially dicey as the free agent market continues to play out but there are some interesting lines..

The Lions have made some nice additions to their defense with DT Fairly and MLB Tulloch. As long as Stafford stays upright - I'll take the over. 8-8 should be doable with the Vikings continuing to regress along with Chicago.
I also like Arizona and the over. Recent free agent QB Kolb should make the offense go throwing to WR Fitzgerald and recent free agent addition TE Todd Heap. In a weak NFC West they should have enough fire power to take the division. Add to that Seattle got worse by losing QB Hasselback and replacing him with QB Tavarius Jackson from Minnesota. Bad move by the SeaHens.
Phildelphia was the surprise winner for the CB Asomugha sweeptake putting them in the pole position for the NFC East. They won 10 last year and I like them to better that record in 2011.
Overall there will be 256 wins in the NFL next year but the total of the overs is 263.5 which means there is more room with the unders. Besides Seattle - my favorite under is Cincinnati. When Matt Millen left the Lions, the Bungles took over as the worst run team in the league. Carson Palmer looks like he will stay retired (Cincy put him on the did not report list) leaving them with either former Oakland QB Grabowski or rookie Andy Dalton taking first string snaps. They won 4 games last year - taking 7.5 this year is a big stretch.
And Carolina is not going to go from 2 wins to 4.5 with Cam Newton at the helm (even if they do sign Derek Anderson) . When your biggest move in free agency is keeping your best player (RB DeAngelo Williams) it doesn't bode well for picking up wins in a stacked NFC South. Most likely they will go winless against New Orleans, Atlanta and Tampa Bay. Add 2 more losses against Indy and Green Bay means they have to go 4-4 versus the rest of the schedule (including Chicago, Detroit, Arizona and Jax).
Remember its 3 months to VEGAS BABY!! See you at the Vegas Hilton on 11/11/11
