The Doofus Brothers ventured up to Maine
It’s been some difficult times in the Doofus family these last three weeks. The Mother of all Doofusses was hospitalized recently. The Doofus brothers made it up to Maine to be by her bedside and keep her spirits up. At night we gathered on Pete’s deck to rehash old family stories. Cousin Robin came up from Connecticut, stopped at the discount liquor place in New Hampshire and then made sure we had plenty of Captain and Cokes to keep the conversation flowing. As the nights wore on the stories got better and funnier. Amazingly, the most hilarious stories were largely grounded in fact.
Pam is recovering strongly. She will soon be moving down to Florida to complete her rehab and be with her sister. She will be getting some much needed R&R (rest and rehab) just in time for the football season. We will make sure she gets the expanded cable to get all the games.

And as Pam recovers, the Penn State football program continues to fall into an abyss of its own making. Louis Freeh released a report documenting the numerous atrocities and the pervasive cover-up by the University and athletic department. The NCAA is considering sanctions but is hamstrung by the fact that there may not be any regulations that PSU violated.
You got to be kidding me! An organization that regulates how much mayo a recruit can put on a ham sandwich doesn’t have rules against sexual abuse? Kind of a big oversight if you ask me. Too many tweets to a recruit - one year probation. Coaches molesting kids? - We'll have to get back to you.
Hopefully, the NCAA will come to their senses and give the program what it deserves – the death penalty. How about a year of no football for every year the cover up went on? That would be at least 13 years. And take down JoePa’s statue, melt it, sell the metal and give the proceeds to the victims. That thing is an embarrassment given all the details of his involvement in the cover up.

In other football news - A few days ago the Las Vegas Hotel released this year’s win totals for select NCAA teams. And once again they totally underestimated the Spartans. Granted, they are starting a new QB this year but with the defense that is returning – no way are they losing 4 games this year. I’ll take the easy over. The odds are nice too in that there is no spiff. Bet $100 win $100. Anyone headed to the LVH before the season starts?
No other teams seem like easy pickings. But some other potentials are South Carolina over 8.5. They need to win only 2 of the following tough ones – Georgia, LSU, Arkansas, Florida and Clemson. I’ll go with a loss to LSU but split the other 4. Has a nice payoff also at bet $100 win $130.
For an under I’ll take Notre Dame. They will get 4 losses amongst – MSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC and BYU. Purdue and Miami (FL) could give them a scare too. Vegas sees the risk too and faded the odds to bet $140 to win $100.
