Week 2 is in the books and some more team trends are coming into view. Time to make some more adjustments to the Doofus football
portfolio.

Texas – Mack Brown – what was that. BYU acted the rude host as they gashed the Texas defense for 549 yards on the ground. In a panic move, Mack Daddy reassigned his DC and replaced him with Greg Robinson. You remember Robinson – he was the “great” DC for Michigan under Rich Rod. The overs for Texas are going to be in demand. .
USC – on the other end of the spectrum, the Trojans defense was excellent but the offense sucked in a 10-7 loss to Washington State. The condoms generated a mere 193 offense in the loss. Head Coaches around the country are lining up agents to go after Lanes and Mack’s jobs.
Cincinnati – one week after dismantling Purdue, the Bearcats got destroyed by Illinois 45-17. Worse was the gruesome injury suffered by QB Munchie Leguaz. Still shuddering from the visual of that injury.
Jacksonville – I thought Oakland was bad but Jacksonville may be worse. They managed only 2 points against Kansas City last week. This week week - who is worse will be determine on the field as Jacksonville travels to Oakland.

Georgia offense – Aaron Murray threw for 309 yards and 4 TDs in a much needed win over South Carolina. But it’s not all Murray, the Mutts may have the best RB in the country right now with Todd Gurley. He ran through a pretty
stout Gamecock defense for 132 yards and a girley.
Oregon – I was this close to taking the Ducks last week but was worried about playing on the East Coast against a surprising Virginia team. Shouldn’t have double clutched. Oregon was fantastic in pummeling the Cavaliers 59-10. The Ducks had a routine 559 yards of offense and the defense was quacking too - allowing only 124 rushing yards and taking three picks.

Week 2 recap – A last minute back door cover by UTSA resulted in a 1-2 week as:
Oklahoma State -26.5 @ UT San Antonio – I figured that UTSA would be a pesky team and
they were as they hung around through the first half. But Okie State was brutally efficient on offense and by the end of three were up 42-7. By now I was
chalking this up as a win. But UTSA just wasn’t going to go away. The Road Runners scored 4 TDs in the 4th including one in the final minute on
4th down to get the back door covers. Final Okie St 56 Acme 35 tough LOSS
Penn State -24.0 vs Eastern Michigan – The Hurons scored first but it was all Nitnies after
that. Penn State’s defense was solid in holding
EMU to 183 total yards of offense. Three fourth quarter TDs by PSU got
the cover in a 45-7 WIN
Indianapolis -9.5 vs Oakland – Andrew Luck is great at last minute comebacks. Nice if you are getting points but sucks when you are laying close to double digits. The Colts jumped out to a 14-0 first half lead and I was feeling comfortable again. But then the Indy defense collapsed and let Oakland take a 17-14 lead. A late Colt TD got Indy the win and a hero stamp for Luck but left me with a LOSS
Time to get back on a winning track. For week 3 I’ll go with
Week 3 Mega Bets
Ole Miss +2.5 @ Texas – Sorry Longhorn fans but if you are relying in Greg Robinson to restore your
defense you in deep doo doo. Robinson’s defenses are legendary in badness. There is a reason he is readily available. No one with half a brain wants him as DC. The Rebels were able to put up 39 on Vandy in week 1 and should be able to put up a similar number this week. The Ole Miss defense is led by Mr Clowney Jr. himself in true freshman DL Robert Nkemdiche. Keeping in mind that this is a revenge game for the Rebs after getting blown out last year 66-31 – they should be giving points not getting them. Reb HC Hugh Freeze has been the
bettors best friend over the last several years going 21-5 against the spread and 6-1 ATS on the road last year. Rebs roll in this one.
Western Kentucky -10.0 @ South Alabama – South Alabama is in the bottom 10 of worst DIv 1A teams. They lost to Div 1AA Southern Utah and narrowly beat fellow cellar dweller Tulane last week. Meanwhile, Western Kentucky Is 1-1 in the SEC East having beaten in state rival Kentucky in week 1. Last week they were demolished by Tennessee
52-10 but don’t let the score fool you. The Hilltoppers turned the ball over 5 times in their first six snaps! No one knows if that is some kind of record but I gotta imagine it is. WKU actually outgained the Vols. Last week’s score has jaded Vegas’ view of WKU too much making for a buying opportunity. WKU is 11-1 ATS on the road since 2011.
New Orleans -3.0 @ Tampa Bay – The Saints shook off some early rust last week as the ended the first quarter down 10-0 to Atlanta. After that it was all Saints as they went on a 23-7 tear over the last three quarters. If New Orleans can keep a high powered Falcon attack to 7 points over three quarters – the should have no problem with
the inept Buc QB Josh Freeman. This game will be lower scoring than many predict due to the improvement in the Bucs secondary (free agent signing Revis) but when the Saints begin racking up points Freeman will be unable to keep up. The Saints have covered 4 of their last 5 in Raymond James and the Bucs are 3-12-1 as home dogs since 2009. Those trends continue.
And here are all the Doofus’ picks for the week plus spreads, records against the spread and more.
