4th Grade. That’s where the Army Seniors were when the Cadets last beat Navy.
Navy is on a twelve game win streak during which time they have outscored Army 400-134. You just fell Dwink wincing. It’s been a tough ride.
And Vegas is expecting the streak to go to 13 as they have posted the Middies as a 14 ½ point favorites.
For Army to have any chance they will need to stop Navy QB Keenan Reynolds. Reynolds ripped Army for 136 yards and 3 TDs last year in route to a 34-7 beat down. Reynold’s 62 career rushing TDs are a NCAA DIv 1 record for a QB – and the guy is only a junior.
If you can make Reynolds throw you have chance. He has a meager completion rate of 44.8% while throwing for only 5 TDs against 3 picks. Navy is second to last in passing.
Both teams like to run. Navy ranks 2nd overall in yards per game with 357.8 Army is 6th with 305.5. But Army’s passing is actually worse then Navy’s. QB Angel Santiago (the son of the Marine killed in A Few Good Men) is dead last throwing for only 1 TD against 1 pick.
The spread is pretty high for a rivalry game but Navy covered the 13.5 spread last year. And there are some other conflicting trends. Navy is 3-8 ATS versus teams with a losing record but the favorite has gone 9-4 ATS in the series.
The Big Al rule section 2.0 says that you must root for Navy (Sorry Dwink) but rather than bet a Mega on Navy to cover I’ll go with
Week 15 Mega Bet
Army vs Navy Under 57.0 – Two teams that run, run and then run some more – and then can’t pass a lick. Sounds like a recipe for an under. This game has gone under 8 straight years and this is highest total since 2007 (a 38-3 Navy win). The only time that this game has gone over 57 points in the last ten years was in 2005 when Navy won (of course) 42-23.
When Navy plays on a neutral site the under is 8-3. For Army the under is 6-1 at neutral sites.
I’ll root for long sustained drives ending in FGs and take the under
