The eldest Doofus Daughter brought the Granddoofusses with her
for the Thanksgiving Holiday week. We bought some Georgia Tech tickets so that the Granddoofusses could go to their first football game. And to make sure they enjoyed the game we took them to the GT vs. Alabama A&M game. No sense taking them to a game that the Wreck might lose. Alabama A&M is not only a Div 1AA tem but they are a bad one to boot.
And Tech didn’t disappoint. They flexed their muscles and destroyed the Bulldogs 66-7. According to Mrs. Bruce the spread was 51.5
points. Tech led 52-0 at the half. So we watched excellent half time shows by the Bulldog marching band (the crowd gave them a standing O) and by Tech and the Sax Man (the crowd stayed standing and
cheering)
Then we left to watch some real football. Of course, while we
were at the game, Bruce and I were huddled over our Iphones keeping up on the MSU Northwestern score. Now before the game, as we were tailgating, I told Bruce that the MSU was Sagarin favored against the MildCats. As he washed back an Apple Chicken sausage with a pretty mean Bloody Mary he said “You know, if I was in Vegas this weekend I would bet everything in my wallet on the Spartans. I just got a feeling that MSU will blow out my alma mater.” A bold statement even if he rarely has more than $50 in his wallet. He was feeling it.

And he was right. MSU QB Conner Cook threw for just under 300 yards and 2 TDs while RB Jeremy Langford ran for 150 yards and another 2 TDs as Sparty blew out Northwestern. BK immediately booked reservations in Indy getting ready for MSU to play in the Big 10 championship for the 2ndtime in three years. I’ve already convinced Mrs Doofus to allow a championship weekend Doofus Deck party. Come early as seats will be at a premium.
During the game I was also following the first Mega Bet game. I got off to a rough start
Week 13 Mega Bet recap
Houston -3.0 vs Cincinnati – Missed opportunities made the game appear closer than it was and kept Houston in the game to the end. The BearCats missed two FGs and were stuffed on 4th and goal at the one missing out on an
additional 13 points. Down 24-17 Houston was driving for a potential tying TD. On the last play of the game from the Cincy 37 Houston QB John O’Korn dropped back to pass, was flushed out of the pocket, scrambled but was tackled at the 31 clinching it for the BearCats. Final score Cincinnati 24 Houston 17 LOSS

Bowling Green -25.0 @ Eastern Michigan – Eastern had a pick six in the first quarter to take a 7-3 lead. But all that did was piss off Bowling Green as they just pummeled the Hurons from then on. The Falcons scored 55 unanswered points and held EMU to 65 total yards. Final score BGSU 58 Eastern Michigan 7 WIN
Missouri -2.5 Ole Miss - By now the Sons of Doofus had arrived at the Doofus household ready for some football and MSU basketball (and some adult beverages and a board game or two.) The Big Guy was rooting for Ole Miss as it helps Auburn but I was not phased. I had a Mega Bet on the line. Auburn can take care of their own business next week in the Iron Bowl.
Reb fans were fired up after a full day of partying in the Grove. Missouri was not impressed. They jumped to a 17-3 half time lead and were never challenged. The Tiger offense was relentless in racking up 482 yards but it was the defense that carried the day. Ole Miss got into the red zone 3 times and came away with three points. Final
score Mizzou 24 Ole Miss 10 WIN
Arizona -2.5 vs Indianapolis– Arizona took the opening drive for a TD and never looked back as the dominated the Colts. By the time the fourth quarter started the Cards were up 34-3. The Colts have a 2 game lead in the AFC South and are not playing inspired ball right now. Over the last 4 games they have outscored 93-12 in the first half.
After trading scores in the final stanza Arizona coasted to a 40-11 WIN

The Mega Bets were 3-1 and the third straight winning weekend.
Once again this year, once the GO JUMBO weekend is over the Mega Bets start winning.
There were 26 Sagarin favored games. They went 21-5. That’s incredible. That means over the last two weeks they have gone 35-10.
Of course with only five losses I happened to pick one out of the pile. That takes a special talent. 21 out of 26 wins and I pick a loss. Crap.
Next year, if this trend holds up I will make sure to spread the bets around a bit.
This week there are 21 Sagarin favored games.
Iowa +3.0 @ Nebraska
Houston -10.0 vs SMU
Memphis -9.0 vs Temple
Florida Atlantic -28.0 vs Florida International
East Carolina +3.0 @ Marshall
Toledo -7.5 @ Akron
Buffalo +1.5 vs Bowling Green
Duke +6.0 @ North Carolina (watch out Ellis)
Illinois +3.5 vs Northwestern (Bruce is stunned)
Baylor -12.5 @TCU
Tulane +11.0 @ Rice
North Texas -5.0 @ Tulsa
UAB -14.0 @ Southern Miss
UT San Antonio -16.5 vs La Tech
Idaho +4.5 @ New Mexico State
New Mexico +36.5 @ Boise State
UNLV +4.0 vs San Diego State
Utah State -21.0 vs Wyoming
South Alabama -9.0 @ Georgia State
Missouri -4.0 vs Texas A&M
Clemson +4.5 @ South Carolina
It’s rivalry week so there are going to be plenty of interesting games on tap. I’l be paying special interest in the Mega Bet games of:

Week 14 Mega Bets:
Missouri -4.0 vs Texas A&M – Going to stay with a good thing. I’m undefeated in taking Missouri as a Mega Bet. Not only is this a Sagarin favored game it is also a revenge game. A&M destroyed
Missouri last year 59-29. Mizzou will have plenty of motivation to avenge that game while at the keeping their BCS hopes alive. Win and they are in the SEC title game. Lose and South Carolina moves on to Atlanta while Missouri is most likely out of the BCS.
The spread would indicate that these teams are fairly equal given
the 3 points for being at home. They’re not. A&M has a slightly better
offense but Missouri’s defense and in particular their DL is much better. With the home crowd fired up the Tigers will roll Johnny Football in what maybe his last regular season college game.
Baylor -12.5 @ TCU – Baylor got destroyed last week by Oklahoma State 49-17. Has college football figured out the Bear Raid. Maybe, but TCU’s banged up secondary won’t slow down a Baylor attack itching to show the world that last week was an aberration. And the Horny Toads don’t have the offensive firepower to keep up in a shoot out.
Baylor can still make the Fiesta Bowl if it wins out and Oklahoma picks off Oklahoma State. And this is another revenge game as TCU took down Baylor 49-21 last year. The Bears are going to go for style points and rout TCU.
UT San Antonio -16.5 vs La Tech – I like betting against bad teams on the road. Add in it is Sagarin favored and a revenge game and it’s a Trifecta. UTSA can put up points on bad teams like when they beat the equally inept UAB 52-31 and UTEP 32-13. Already bowl eligible UTSA at 6-5 the Road Runners will look to better their chances at a spot with some style points and a seventh victory.
Arizona +3.5 @ Philadelphia – Another “staying with a good thing” on Arizona. Phildelphia is on a three week winning streak but it’s a mirage. They beat Oakland with a banged up tyrell Pryor, Green Bay without Rodgers and Washington with Robert Griffin turning into a head case lately. Now they have to take on a quality team with a quality defense.
Arizona is coming off a blow out win so they may not be sufficiently focused. I expect the Cards to win but even in the down side case they should be able to keep it within a FG and a hook.
