A Doofus Thanksgiving back when the kids were just babies Here’s hoping everyone had a great Thanksgiving. One of my favorite holidays. Plenty of food, family friends and of course football!
The Doofus household was the traditional, packed to the gills, family and food extravaganza. Mrs Doofus cooked up a fine feast of turkey, ham and all the fixins. I did my part by staying out of the way watching the Lions.
Demand for tickets was so great that we are hosting in shifts this year. The Swag Man, Sax Man and Saxy Lady came on Thanksgiving itself while the Big Guy is coming the day after.
We partied late into the night last night. A few hours before sunrise, Mrs. Doofus stopped by the Doofus Deck to maek sure I hadn’t taken everyone on a late night booze cruise on the DPB. Nope, we were still talking about all kinds of things, from the important to those less so. Views were held firmly but not stridently.
We did get onto football a few times. The Coaching Carousel is taking some weird twists this year. Tom Herman may or may not be going to LSU depending on the latest rumor update. He was seen as a lock to Texas earlier. And may still be headed there. Check your airplane tailfins Tiger and Horn fans.

So, despite the bad officiating, we ended up winning this game? Earlier in the week, Bruce wanted to know my reaction to the Notre Dame penalty for having a GA do some course work for a few players. First, as far as helping players, they need all the help they can get. Happens all the time. Just ask Ellis.
The penalty is a joke however. Vacating wins is so lame. So now, ND didn’t play Bama in the 2012 championship game? In reality, they didn’t show up for the game but I do recall them getting on the field.
And State gets to go to the BCS championship game in 2013? With the vacated win, State is 13-0 during the regular season and the Big Ten Champs. They would have been in Pasedena that year, not for the Rose Bowl that we attended but for all the marbles a week later.
And the $5,000 fine is a joke. Probably to cover the first call air fare for the NCAA minions to go to South Bend.
I told Bruce that if they wanted to penalize the Domers make it hurt. Have Rudy walk the stations of the Cross and then crucify him at halftime. Think of the ratings!

Georgia Tech +4.0 @ Georgia - The Sax Man and Saxy Lady will be in attendance. A Good Old fashioned Hate for these two love birds. Somewhere around 2 am the conversation turned to this game. Neither was optimistic for their teams chances. And both wanted to know who I thought would win. No idea so I'll take the points.
Virginia +18.5 @ Va Tech - The Cavs will hang on to the ball for a change and keep this game withing 2TDs
Oregon State +3.0 vs Oregon - How often does the Beav have a realistic chance at beating the Ducks - at home no less? They'll make it happen.
Kansas +27.0 vs Kansas State - Kansas is coming off their biggest upset that I can ever remember which means you should pick against them this week. But 27 points against a rival is too much. I'll take the JayHawks for a late backdoor cover.
Kentucky +26.5 vs Louisville - Louisville was embarrassed last week by Houston which means you would normally take Cards to bounce back. But a four TD comeback. Nope, The WildCats keep this one close.
South Carolina +24.0 @ Clemson - The Cocks have found their QB in Jake Bentley. They will play their best game of the year and keep this game within 3TDs
Ohio State -6.5 vs Michigan - Everything says I should take scUM and the points. I even though about picking them to screw up their chances. But I just can't. It's the one time of the year I root for the BuckNuts
North Carolina -11.0 vs NC State - Once again everything says take NC State. Its a rivalry game, it's a large spread, NC State has been a thorn in the side of the blue for years. But I'll still take the Heels to romp. Sorry Ellis

Auburn is playing a little defense this year Auburn +17.0 @ Alabama - Somewhere around 2:30 the conversation turned to this game. We were wondering if this game is ever a blow out. There were a couple of examples but it was Auburn sucked. Auburn doesn't suck this year. There's just enough defense on the Tiger side to keep this one close. It won't be a Kick Six but it will be exciting.
