One week to VEGAS BABY! Time for the final tune up
Let’s get right to the biggest game of the week
14. Ohio State +2.5 @ 8. The reigning Big Ten Champs – The playoffs start in the Big Ten this week. Win and your still in. Lose, well no one is going to take a two loss Big Ten team.
The problem with these teams and getting into the playoffs – have they beaten anybody?
Michigan State has one good win – Nebraska. Other than the Huskers they have not beaten a team that will go bowling.
And who is Ohio State’s best win? Rutgers? Penn State? Navy? Ohio State has yet to play a ranked team while MSU is 1-1 against ranked teams.
These teams are good. Very good. But they absolutely need this game to 1. Get to the Big Ten Championship and then 2. Hope for a playoff bid.
The Ohio State offense is on a roll scoring 50 or more points in five of their last six games. QB JT Barrett has filled in for Braxton Miller admirably this season and continues to improve. He has thrown 20 TDs against only three picks over the last six games – all wins.
But the Bucknuts have played only two defenses with a pulse, Va Tech, a loss, and Penn State where they need to OTs to win. MSU’s defense in much better than those two teams.
And the Spartan offense is humming too, scoring when they really need to and averaging 45.5 points per game, 5th overall. The high powered Ohio State offense? Almost exactly the same 45.6 for 4th.
Of course I’m picking the Spartans in this game but not a Mega Bet, don’t want to jinx them. The defense is the best that OSU has faced and the Spartan offense is more consistent and powerful than last year.
MSU is 4-1 against the spread at home this year. The lone loss ATS was when they let Nebraska make a game of it.
And a trivia question – who was the last Spartan coach to beat OSU two times in a row? See answer below.
And nothing like a pump up video to get you ready for the game

And there are other great games on tap too including –
5. Kansas State +6.0 @ 6. TCU – The Big 12 championship could rest on this game. If TCU wins it’s a cake walk with Kansas, Texas and Iowa State left. If K State wins they will have the inside track with West Virginia, Baylor and Kansas remaining.
TCU’s used to be a defense first team but not this year. The defense is still good and very opportunistic. They rank 1st in the turnover margin. But it’s the offense that has the Frogs in the playoff hunt. The average 48.3 points per game, 2nd overall.
But KSU doesn’t make mistakes. They have had only one game where they turned it over more than once, Auburn, and it was their only loss. And for a change, it’s KSU that brings in the better defense. KSU leads the Big 12 in total defense (321.1 yards) and scoring defense (18.6 points)
These are two well coached teams used to big games. TCU has the revenge factor (KSU won 33-31 last year) and the home field. Just not sure that is worth six points. I’ll take the Wildcats getting 6.0
10. Notre Dame +2.5 @ 9. Arizona State – As I said in the last in the last update – The Domer defense has sprung some leaks. Not only that but they are now a man down, losing LB Joe Schmidt
Arizona State’s defense has been improving. After getting blown out by UCLA 62-27 the Devils have buckled down and let up only 17.5 points per game.
I like ASU in this game but I’m not going to Mega Bet this game since the Sheriff is and I don’t want to steal his thunder. That and the “take the away team when under 3 points” would favor ND.
In the week after the Navy game, Notre Dame is 1-7 against the spread. Forks cover.

4. Oregon -8.0 @ Utah – The way to beat Oregon is to dominate the line of scrimmage. Utah can do that. They lead the nation in sacks with 35.
But Oregon will get their points. They average 45.4 points 6th overall. Utah is struggling to score. They haven’t topped 30 points since week 2.
It’s gotten so bad that the Utes held an open competition for the starting QB job.
The Sheriff is Mega Betting this game too so I’ll defer to him. I’ll take a Mini Mega on it though. Ducks roll.
5. Alabama -6.5 @ LSU – Bama used to be known for their defense too but it’s the offense that is leading the way this year. Say what you will about Lane Kiffin but under his leadership, the Tide is 14th in overall offense and are in the top 30 in both rushing and passing.
To win, LSU needs to make Bama one dimensional. They can do that. The pass defense has improved markedly over the season. They have allowed only 6 TD passes, 4 in losses to Mississippi State and Auburn.
This game has all the markings of a classic low scoring, close, intense Tide Tiger matchup. I’ll take the Tigers, at night in Death Valley to cover.
And while those games are going on I’ll also be watching these Mega Bets

Week 11 Mega Bets

West Virginia -3.5 @ Texas – Charlie Strong gets a pass this year with the Longhorns. His defense is pretty solid this year as you would expect (#1 pass defense in the Big 12) but its going to take time to clear out a lot of dead wood and build some toughness.
The Longhorn offense is lacking (8th in the Big 12) and faces a huge challenge in the underrated WVU defense. The ‘Neers have the second best pass defense in the Big 12 despite facing teams like Alabama, Oklahoma, TCU and Baylor.
And like the Domers, the Texas defense has started to spring some leaks too giving up over 800 yards over the last three weeks to Kansas State, Iowa State and Texas Tech.
West Virginia is going to be in full come back mode after a bitter last second defeat to TCU last week. Five turnovers killed the Mounties in that game. They have difficulty hanging onto the ball but shouldn't give it away that many times this week.
Texas struggles at home going 1-3 ATS this year and 6-10 over the last 16 home games. QB Clint Trickett and WR Kevin White will torch a fading Texas secondary. Neers cover the short spread.

Georgia Tech -4.0 @ NC State – OK Sax Man you’re on the hook for a Mega Bet.
NC State HC Dave Doeren got his first ACC win over a struggling Syracuse. Whoo de doo. NC State’s defense is still bad. The let up a combined 101 points to offensively challenged teams Boston College, Clemson and Louisville.
Tech comes in on a roll after losing back to back games to Duke and UNC (oops) they have blown out Pitt and Virginia. The offense is humming . They have added an element of a passing game to go with a lethal triple option ground game. QB Justin Thomas leads the team in rushing while tossing 14 TD passes.
The Pack is 2-7 at home ATS while Tech is 3-1 on the road. Wreck rolls.

Green Bay -7.0 vs Chicago – It’s usually a close race as to who is a biiger head case each year – Phil Rivers or Jay Cutler. This year it’s Cutler by a country mile. The supposed high octane Chicago offense is misfiring so bad that Brandon Marshall is calling Cutler out. Dissension rules in the locker room.
Now Cutler travels to Lambeau where he really sucks. Over the last five years he has 2 TDs and 10 picks.
The Bears will try to establish Matt Forte since the Pack ranks dead last in rush defense. But they will need to abandon that strategy quickly as Aaron Rodgers will jump to a quick lead. Ever since Rodgers told Pack fans to R-E-L-A-X he has been on fire. When these teams last met Rodgers went off for 302 yards passing and 4 TDs.
Green Bay is in rebound mode after getting trounced by New Orleans in the Big Easy. Rodgers is dangerous in those situations going 15-5 ATS after a loss. The Pack is superb at home too going 23-12 ATS in Lambeau.
These teams are headed in opposite directions. Chicago is 1-4 ATS over the last five while Green Bay is 7-1 vs the Bears over the last eight.
Going with a bunch of Mini Megas this week with

Duke -3.5 @ Syracuse – Blue Devils finding ways to win. Syracuse struggling. I’ll give the short spread.
Baylor +6.0 @ Oklahoma – Bears have never won in Norman but the #1 offense should be able to keep this game within 6. Sooner QB Trevor Knight can be erratic. If he stumbles Baylor will make him pay.
La Tech -4.0 @ UAB – Bulldogs have been on a tear lately going 7-2 ATS and 5-0 on the road. The defense has been stout allowing only more than 21 points to Oklahoma and Auburn. The offense is averaging over 40 points over the last four games.
Oregon -8.0 @ Utah – Can the Ducks handle the high altitude and crazy fan base at Rice Eccles? Yup
New Orleans -5.0 vs San Francisco – Another locker room in turmoil. This time due to the HC. Harbaugh is losing this team after losses to St Louis and Denver.
New Orleans is fantastic at home going 35-14 ATS. And home favorite coming off a Thursday game are 44-19.
I'll go with a Point Whore Parlay with
Virginia +20.0 @ Florida State
Purdue +17.0 @ Wisconsin
Colorado +17.0 @ Arizona

And the Sheriff is sticking with the PAC 12 this week with
Oregon (-8) over Utah. Now that their offensive line is healthy, the Ducks are really starting to roll. And as difficult as it is to win in Utah (ask the Condoms), Utah is going to struggle offensively with its best wide receiver, Dres Anderson, out for the year. I like Oregon to cover.
Arizona State (-2.5) over Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish dream of reaching the Final 4 will die in the Desert Saturday afternoon as the Sun Devils will crush the Papists and get revenge for last year’s loss in Cowboy stadium.
Oregon State (-8) over Washington State. With Connor Holliday out for the year with a broken ankle and no hope for a Bowl game at 2-7, Wazzou’s season is slowly circling down the drain. I don’t expect the Cougs to put up much of a fight in this contest as Mike Riley gets a much-needed win for his Beavers.
Trivia Answer
The last Spartan coach to beat OSU in consecutive season was none other than Nick Saban. He guided the Spartans to back-to-back wins in 1998-99.
And for all the games, spreads, picks and much much more here is the Week 11 Bettors Guide
