It’s like the Hostess store at the end of the day – just a few cupcakes left to go.
Conferences are getting in to the meat of their schedules which means there are more good games on tap, starting with:
#21 Wake Forest +7.0 vs #5 Clemson – Both are 3-0 and are arguably the two best teams in the ACC. They face off in an early crucial showdown for the title.
Clemson’s days of owning the ACC are behind it. The defense is still there but the offense is inconsistent. Yeah, Clemson’s defense has been stellar so far this year but has yet to face a competent offense.
Wake Forest’s offense is the best the Tigers have faced all year. QB Sam Hartman missed the opener against VMI due to a blood clotting problem, then came back and rocked Vanderbilt and Liberty for 625 yards and seven touchdowns.
Wake Forest has building the program for this moment. They thought they were there last year only to get knocked off 48-21.
Yet, Wake Forest’s best win is, umm Liberty? By a point?
I’ll take the defending Coastal champs, WtF, to cover at home but no quatloos.
Sports investors should note that Clemson is 1-9 ATS in September games.

#11 Tennessee -10.0 vs #20 Florida – Two programs try to return to their glory days of the past.
Florida may be ranked but it soon won’t be. The Gators knocked off Utah in a thriller but then lost to Kentucky, eliminating for the race for 2nd place in the SEC East, then was a muffed snap by South Florida to losing last week. The media is in love with QB Anthony Richardson but the Gators are 121st in passing offense.
Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker is the real deal. The Vols rank 5th is total offense, 4th in scoring offense and 3rd in total offense. He has 6 TDs so far and no picks.
Neyland stadium will be rocking with Game Day in town. I’ll take the home favorite to cover. No quatloos though.
Sports investors should note that Florida is on a 0-5 ATS strak against SEC teams and 0-8 ATS on the road.

#10 Arkansas +2.0 vs Texas A&M – It’s the opposite of the immovable object versus the irresistible force. Arkansas has the worst pass defense while A&M has the 99th ranked passing offense. But for whatever reason, despite the horrible pass defense, the Razorbacks lead the nation in sacks.
Since this game will come down to the running game, Arkansas has the clear advantage, the rank 7th in stopping the runs.
I’ll take Arkansas and the points in an old Southwest Conference matchup in Jerry World. No quatloos though.
Arkansas was down 10 to a bad Div 1AA Missouri State last week before puling off a 38-27 win.

#3 Ohio State -19.5 vs Wisconsin – 2004, George Bush wins reelection, that’s was the last time that Wisconsin beat Ohio State in the Shoe. Bucky has lost to the Bucknuts eight straight times. And those Wisconsin teams were better than the one that’s 2-1 with a loss to Washington State.
Georgia's defense is incredible again but one team is actually ahead of them in fewest yards per game - Wisconsin. But they haven’t faced anything like Ohio State’s attack. QB CJ Stroud has shown to be a valid Heisman candidate with 12 TDs and no picks – zero.
The strategy is simple, get up early and force Graham Mertz to beat you through the air. No way he will be capable of keeping up.
I’ll take Ohio State and lay the points but no quatloos.
Sports investors should note that fading Bucky against Ohio State is very profitable. Wisconsin not only loses straight up but is 3-8-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings and 0-5-1 in the last six.

#7 Southern Cal -5.5 @ Oregon State – I got to admit, I’ve never seen a stat like this. As much as the gang loves to get together and bet on college football the amount of money vet on the NFL far outweighs the amount bet on college football. Yet more money has been bet on this game than all but three NFL game with most of the money on Oregon State. Oregon State? USC could make sense but the Beavers? The spread at the Westgate started at 13.5 but so much money came in on Oregon State that the spread has dropped all the way to 5.5
Both teams are 3-0 and are lighting up the scoreboard, ranking 1st and 2nd in the PAC 12 in scoring, averaging over 45 points per game.
Game Day should be here because this is going to be a barn burner. Both defenses are within striking distances of average.
Look, I like Oregon State. I know a guy that played for the Beavers, great guy. But I’m going with the Condoms for 2 reasons. 3. USC is better at hanging on to the rock. They have yet to turn the ball over while forcing 10 takeaways. OSU has thrown 2 picks and lost a fumble.
And I know the transitive property is a dicey proposition but Oregon State needed a walk off TD to beat Fresno State while USC pimp slapped the Bulldogs 45-17.
And finally, I like fading the public. That much money on the Beavers? I’ll take the Trojans for a Mega Bet

Kansas -7.0 vs Duke – Quick name a famous Kansas or Duke football player. Pete got Gale Sayers for Kansas. I reminded him of John Riggins. We both had to look up Duke and, fun one, Sonny Jurgensen. You can name dozens of basketball players but football? Good barstool question
Now they are both 3-0 looking to break into the rankings. Lance Leopold has put the Jayhawk offense on turbo mode. So far this year they have scored 159 points. Two years ago they scored 142, for the whole season.
First year HC Mike Elko (by the way this will be the first time since 1942 that Duke has a new football and basketball in the same year) has Duke getting off to a great start at the opening tip, I mean kickoff. They have outscored their opposition 45-0 in the first quarter. The offense is balanced and the defense is generating takeaways. Duke has stolen the ball seven times so far this year including a game sealer against Northwestern.
I like the two wins by Kansas that is getting them so much attention, The Jayhawks beat West Virginia 55-42 in overtime (pick-6 in overtime to increase the lead to 13) as a 14-point road dog, and then went to Houston and beat the Cougars 48-30 as a 9.5-point road dog. Duke’s best win Temple? No Northwestern, just no.
I’ll take Kansas at home (they just announced their second sell out since 2013) and lay the points. No quatloos though.
By the way, if you took the over on wins for the season for Kansas you can go ahead an cash your tickets now. Kansas came into the season with an over/under Vegas win total set at 2.5. You have a push so far with Duke as the over/under was set at three.
The loser gets a chance at revenge. The basketball teams face off in 52 days on Nov. 15.

Memphis -11.5 vs North Texas – North Texas has no clue how to play defense. They just gave up 58 points to UNLV. Memphis just put up 81 points on nice wins over Navy and Arkansas State. North Texas is also a turnover machine, the Mena Green has given it away seven times so far this year. Memphis has turned it over only once. I’ll put a quatloo on the Tigers to cover.

The Sheriff awoke from his long (hopefully not Covid related) slumber with these picks.
Wazzu (+6.5) vs Oregon - The Ducks are bound to have a let-down after their big win over BYU last week and the Cougs are always tough at home.
Colorado (+21.5) vs UCLA - The Sheriff is one of 10 people nationwide with access to the PAC-12 Network and, thus, has watched all 3 of UCLA’s non-conference games. The Bruins will be lucky to get out of Boulder with a win, let alone cover a number this big.
Utah (-15.5) @ Arizona State - Since losing its opener in the Swamp against Florida, Utah has been on a tear and nothing the Sun Devils can do on Saturday should change that.
And for all the games, picks, spreads and much much more here is the 2022 Week 4 Bettors Guide
