Before we get into this weeks slate – here’s the latest on the Covid cancellations. 14 games are cancelled this week, down from 15 last week. Those vaccines can't get here fast enough.
Included in those cancellations is your and my favorite team – MSU @ Maryland. After 23 Maryland players and seven staff members including HC Mike Locksley caught the bug, the Terps called it off.
Some thought it was a good thing in that State avoided another potential loss. I’m of the opinion that, this season is a dumpster fire anyways, so why not give Mel more time to play around with his roster and see what he has. Giving Payton Thorne more game time reps would be good too. But the point is moot.
Everyone else in the B10 is playing so there was no chance of doing what the PAC 12 did and take two non-covid teams and play a game. And it's too late to schedule a green and white scrimmage. I guess this week becomes now an extra week to prepare for Northwestern. Bummer

This is the week that the Big Ten picks it’s championship teams. The winners of Wisconsin @ Northwestern and Indiana @ Ohio State can punch their ticket to Indy. Sure you can construct scenarios where they stumble and get overtaken but nah, the winners are in. Here's who I got:
Wisconsin -7.5 @ Northwestern - It's a simple question, is Graham Mertz really that good or is he a product of playing two really bad teams, Michigan and Illinois? He will get a good test this weekend.
Pat Fitzgerald has Northwestern back to playing tough, hard-hitting defense. The Wildcats are giving up only 250 yards of total offense per game and have generated 10 takeaways this season. That includes eight interceptions and seven sacks, so they’re going to force Mertz to make solid decisions when he goes back to pass.
The Cats don't do anything fancy on offense. Northwestern’s game plan is simple: run the ball down your throat and suffocate you with defense. If Mertz can solve the defense, Wiscy wins in a cake walk.
I'm going with a low scoring slugfest with the Badgers winning by 10. Put me down for a Mini Mega.
Ohio State -20.5 vs Indiana - I'm sorry, but Indiana is a fraud. Only in 2020 would they be considered a Top 10 team. Think about it, they were a blown call away from losing to an 0-4 Penn State and after MSU stopped shooting themselves in the foot, they were held to 0-0 in the second half against State.

The combined record of their four victims - 3-13, with two of the wins against each other (State beat your most hated team but also lost to Rutgers)
When Penix faced a semblance of a defense in MSU he threw 2 picks. He was lucky that State gave it back. Ohio State won't do that. They will make the Hoosiers pay for their mistakes.
Ohio State is averaging over 500 yards per game and Justin Fields has yet to throw a pick. No short fields for the Hoosiers this week.
I'll lay a Mini Mega on the BuckNuts to blow out the Hoosiers.
And there is one more match up of ranked opponents

Oklahoma State +7.5 @ Oklahoma - Oklahoma has just enough rush defense to limit Chubba Howard. Okie State has more than enough defense to contain Oklahoma.
I'll take the points in a rivalry game and the under 58.5. Put me down for a quatloo on each.
Forget the ranked games the best game of the weekend will be
Coastal Carolina -4.5 vs Appalachian State - Coastal Carolina is undefeated. App State has one loss to #15 Marshall (the same ranking as Coastal).
Coastal's offense gets all the accolades, first in the Sun Belt in scoring (37.9 PPG) and yards per play (6.6), but it's the improved defense which has the Chanticleers in the drivers seat for the conference title. Last year CCU allowed over 30 PPG, this year its 16.3.
The road to the Sun Belt championship goes through UL Lafayette and App State. Coastal has already punched one ticket, beating ULL.
App State has won it three years running but every so often a team has a miracle year. This is CCU's miracle year. I'll put a Mini Mega on the Chanticleers.

Some other football investments for your consideration
Liberty +3.5 @ NC State - Liberty is already 2-0 in the ACC including a win over Va Tech, a team that crushed NC State 45-24 to start the season. NC State is too flaky a team. The wrong team is favored. I'll lay a Mini Mega on the Money Line
Cincinnati -6.5 @ Central Florida - UCF is padding the stats against bad teams. The last time they face a decent defense they lost to Tulsa 34-26. Cincinnati is better than Tulsa. I'll lay a Mega Bet on the BearCats to keep their CFP hopes alive with a double digit win.
Miami -3.5 @ Denver - Miami's defense is too good for a banged up Bronco team. I'll lay the points for a Mini Mega
Kansas City -8.0 @ Las Vegas - This a pure Mahomes wanting to get revenge on the only team to beat him this year bet. It's a big spread but I'll lay a Mini Mega on the defending champs

For this week's Point Whore Parlay I'll go with
Kansas State +12.5 @ Iowa State
Kentucky +30.5 @ Alabama
Hawaii +13.5 vs Boise State

Hawaii +13.5 vs Boise State

Woz and I would be making live bets but Michigan's Governor shut down the casinos as they are considered non-essential. Since when is sports investing non-essential? It's a conspiracy man!
But if we could make bets would have made an aggressive Money Line parlay bet that would have made a two for one return and a safe ML parlay that would have made a 100% profit
Woz would have made a Big Ten ML parlay bet with a two for one return and a second, safer, ML parlay bet with a 100% return
And for all the games, spreads, picks and much much more here is the 2020 Week 12 Bettors Guide
