UPDATE:
The Big Flippy made its picks
While the $2.00 bill in my pocket put it’s name in the transfer portal, leaving me with only $5.00 to my name, the Big Flippy remains steadfast in it’s commitment to the team. The Big Flippy predicts the following winners / covers:
Northwestern
Oregon
ASU
USC
BYU
Missouri
In the Pros, he is going with:
Atlanta
Indy
The Sheriff also likes:
Stanford (-8) vs UCLA - Aside from the second half of the Wazzu game, Chip Kelly’s Bruins have been comfortably numb all season. This should be an easy “W” for the Cardinal.
USC (-9.5) vs Arizona - The Condoms are a different team at home under the lights, and this game is Saturday night in the Collie. This spread will be double digits by kickoff. USC wins big.
Wyoming (-19.5) vs New Mexico - The Cowboys lost a heartbreaker last week against the Aztecs, but will get well again at home at 7000 ft against the worst team in the Mountain West.
The Spartans get a much needed bye. Time to heal and more importantly recalibrate. The seniors need to take charge and get the team to be Spartan Dawgs again. There's still a chance to pull this season out of the death spiral.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of games to capture your interest this weekend, the weekend before GO JUMBO. One last week to practice your picks!
But before I get to the picks, I love pump up videos. Here is one from LSU.
Welcome to Death Valley ...
Love Coach O! “Welcome to Death Valley where opponents dreams come to die. What a great catch phrase!”
And here’s the latest episode of Hole football. Woz, before the multiple knee injuries, had some wheels but not the greatest football IQ.

I’ll be in the North Georgia mountains polkaing. My fellow dancers will be avoiding my clumsy uncoordinated moves. The dance floor will have caution tape around my immediate vicinity and signed releases will be required to enter. The dance hall will be wishing I was watching this game instead:
Ohio State -28.0 @ Northwestern – It’s a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Championship game. A game won easily by Ohio State 45-24.
This game is expected to be a blow out too. The Bucknuts are destroying everything in their path. While Northwestern has faded badly. They are1-4 and are trying to avoid their first 3 game losing streak since 2014.
The game will be used to compare OSU to Wisconsin. Back in Week 5 Wiscy struggled to put away the Cats 24-15. How the Bucknuts fare against Willy will go a long way to determining the line for the GO JUMBO game between Wiscy and OSU in the Shoe.
With a week off I’ll root for the Cats, take Ohio State but place zero quatloos. Classic look ahead game.
Oregon -2.5 @ Washington - Since blowing a fourth quarter lead in their season opener to 11th-ranked Auburn, 27-21, the Ducks have rolled off five consecutive victories. This is no longer the Quack attack of old. The Ducks, under head coach Mario Cristobal, have relied on defense to win games. The Ducks have outscored its opponents, 195-25, since week one, allowing just one touchdown, and for the first time since 1958 has held five consecutive teams to single-digit points. Oregon is now 3rd in the nation in points allowed, giving up just 8.7 PPG.
The Washington Huskies were picked to win the NFC North this year, but so far, they are off to a 2-2 start in league play and in 2nd place in the division. Their losses this year have been bad as the Huskies fell at home as 13.5 point favorites to Cal and lost to a pathetic Stanford by a score of 23-13. The normally stout defense is rather mediocre 63rd against the pass and 57th against the run. Likely top 5 pick, Justin Hebert will have no problem navigating the Huskie defense.
I’ll put a Mega Bet on Cristobal’s Crew.
Investors Note: Oregon is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Washington. The favorite is 16-5 ATS the last 21 games in this series.

Arizona State +14.0 @ Utah - Utah and Arizona State enter the weekend with identical records (5-1, 2-1 PAC 12) and are among four football teams currently tied for first place in the PAC 12 South.
Arizona State has won two in a row by a combined 38 points, but the Utes will be out for revenge in this game, especially quarterback Tyler Huntley. The junior had his season ended in last November’s game against the Sun Devils after he suffered a broken collarbone.
ASU true freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels threw for a career-high 363 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers last week against Washington State. He scored on a 17-yard rushing touchdown with 34 seconds left to notch a 38-34 comeback win over the Cougars.
Close games have become the norm for Arizona State since Herm Edwards took over. In 19 games under Edwards, the Sun Devils have played 13 games decided by a touchdown or less - going 7-6 in those contests. Eight of those 13 contests have been decided by four points or fewer with ASU going 6-2 in those games. Spartan fans are still pissed at being one of those 6.
14 points is too much to give Herm’s Forks. I’ll take the points. The Sheriff agrees.
But no quatloos. ASU is a public dog with 61% of the bets on the Sun Devils.

I'll put a couple more Mega Bets on:
Florida -5.0 @ South Carolina - It's a simple bet really. Florida is coming off a tough loss to LSU. A loss that they can afford to have and still make the CFP but would have put themselves in the driver seat for the SEC East if they would have won. Now they will be motivated to set things straight. The Gators need to win out to make the CFP. Lose here and the game against Georgia is irrelevant.
South Carolina is coming off an upset win over Georgia between the hedges. The Cocks are riding high. It's typical for teams coming off a big win to lose a little edge the next game. Can they make it two huges upsets in back to back weeks?
I doubt it. Florida were very competitive in a tough loss to a Top 5 team. They are still much better than South Carolina. The small spread is an overreaction to last week's outcomes.
Investors Note: Conflicting trends. The Home team is 1-4-1 ATS in this game. But Muschamp is 13-4 as a dog.

LA Rams -3.0 @ Atlanta – The Falcons are a train wreck. The OL is horrible. Pat could get pressure on Matt Ryan (until he drops five yards back and Pat gets winded). Aaron Donald is going to have a multi sack afternoon. Ryan won’t have time to find Julio and crew. Devonta Freeman will have no running lanes against the Rams superb DL.
Goff struggles against talented DLs that can generate pressure. Fortunately for him the Falcons are pathetic at generating pressure. Goff will have all the time in the world to torch Atlanta’s secondary.
The Rams will start out slow, it’s a 1:00 game, but the blow out will get rolling in the second quarter.
I'll also put some Mini Megas on:

Boise State -6.5 @ BYU - BYU is down to their 3rd string QB and is coming off a loss to a bad South Florida team. Boise's defense is 26th best in fewest points allowed. The Broncos are in the lead for the P5 spot for the New Year's game.
Missouri -21.0 @ Vanderbilt - Vanderbilt is tanking. Mizzou's offense is scoring machine with Kelly Bryant under center. They are 17th overall in scoring. The Tigers will have the spread covered by half time.
Indianapolis -1.0 vs Houston - The Texans are getting too much love after beating a bad Falcons team and injury riddled Chiefs. Indy has a great OL and will give Jacoby Brissett time to slice a porous Texans secondary.
And for all the games, spreads, picks and much much more here is the 2019 Week 8 Bettors Guide
