While Hurricane Flo (I wonder how much Progressive Insurance paid for the naming rights?) wreaks havoc throughout the Carolinas, ironically leaving Flo to pick up her own tab, it does more than destroy properties, it screws up the college football schedule. Oh, the humanity!
The ODU Charlotte game was moved to Thursday, while the UCF @ UNC, West Virginia @ NC State, East Carolina @ Va Tech, Southern Miss @ App State and Marshall @ South Carolina games were all cancelled.
In an interesting move, the Ohio @ Virginia game was moved to Vandy’s stadium while Vandy is playing in South Bend.
Teams are now scrambling to backfill their schedule in order to remain bowl eligible.
The Spartans are regrouping (early) after a disappointing loss to the Sandman, I mean ASU.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t other great games to capture your outsized, 50 inch belt football attention.

The season is still just starting but plenty of plot lines are developing starting with:
Auburn +10.0 vs LSU – It’s the play-in game to take on Bama for the SEC West. Both teams took down a ranked opponent in week one and are playing great defense. Auburn has the better QB and it’s a revenge game for the Orange and Blue Tigers.
But 10 points sounds a bit much for what should be a low scoring game. I’ll take the points but no quatloos.
USC +3.5 @ Texas – Remember when these games were huge? The TV promos want you to believe that v3 of this game will be on that level. It won’t. Both teams are struggling. Texas had a face plant against Maryland. USC couldn’t generate any offense against Stanford in a 17-3 loss.
Texas is playing at a level somewhere around the middle of the CUSA. It barely beat Tulsa 28-21 as 22.5 point favorites.
They are lucky they aren’t 0-2. Tulsa failed to score any points on three different drives into Texas territory during the first half of last week’s contest. Then, the Golden Hurricane bricked field-goal attempts of 43, 29, and 36 yards.
I’ll take USC for a quatloo

Vanderbilt +14.0 @ Notre Dame – Notre Dame is struggling a bit on offense. QB Brandon Wimbush has 1 TD to 4 picks. The rushing attack is no better at 102nd overall so far this year. Vandy will shut it down and easily cover the spread. I’m in for a Mini Mega and make it part of a point whore parlay.
The rest of the Mini Megas are:
New Mexico -5.5 vs New Mexico State – NMSU has had some goofy upsets in this series but they are playing a level of stink not seen outside of cattle rendering plants. New Mexico gets a revenge win at home.
Georgia Tech -4.0 @ Pitt – Pitt is not as bad as the 51-6 loss last week to Penn State but it’s bad. Tech’s special teams lost the game last week. The offense will blow through a struggling Panther defense.
South Florida -10.0 @ Illinois – Illinois starting QB AJ Bush is dinged up and questionable for today’s game. The Bull DL will harass freshman QB MJ Rivers and star Bull QB Blake Barnett will move his way up the NFL draft tables by destroying a suspect Illini defense

Oklahoma -17.5 vs Iowa State – It’s a revenge game at home for the Sooners. Iowa State is also down a QB when Kyle Kempt went down last week. Oklahoma will reach down in its deep stable of RBs, replace Rodney Anderson and roll the Cyclones.
Tulane -3.5 vs UAB – The Blazers couldn’t stop Coastal Carolina’s ground game last week, giving up 5 rushing TDs. Tulane’s triple option can do that and more. Blow out win for the Wave.
Here’s the don’t outthink it, just go with it, quatloo bets:
Syracuse +2.5 vs Florida State – Yeah, that FSU that struggled against Samford is the real FSU. Orange QB Eric Dungey has his official coming out party with the (minor) upset win.
Army -6.5 vs Hawaii – Pure time zone bet here. It’s a noon kickoff or 6am Rainbow time. Worth a quatloo to see what happens.

Maryland -15.0 vs Temple – Temple’s defense can’t get off the field allowing 52% of third down tries. The speedy turtles will run all over the pitch.
Minnesota -13.5 vs Miami (OH) – The Redskins are 0-2 against Group of Five teams. The Goofers just took down one of the better ones, Fresno State, last week. Less that 2 TDs? Lay the points.
Arizona State -5.5 @ San Diego State – I underestimated Herm and the Forks. No more. SDSU is not the juggernaut of the last few years.
Fresno State – 2.5 @ UCLA – Chip will get this Bruins thing fixed at some point. Just not this week.

The picking has been good but the Mega Bets are off to a slow start. Here’s this week’s attempt to get things going:
Ohio State -12.0 @ TCU – 129- 34. That’s the cumulative score of the Buckeyes against two Power Five teams. Meyer? Who’s Meyer? They could have put Johnny E on the sidelines, put some goofy, big headphones on him with a ball cap saying Head Coach and still won those games. OSU is a machine right now. QB Dwayne Haskins is the best passer they’ve had in a long time and the DL is as good or better than Bama’s
They’ve had no problems in big games on the road. tOSU is 12-4 outside the Shoe against Top 25 teams since 2007.
TCU struggled early against a bad SMU team last week before coming back to win 42-12. TCU will get off to a better start at home on Game Day but they will eventually succumb.

Mizzou -5.0 @ Purdue – Purdue lost to EMU at home. Let that sink in for a moment.
Purdue is a mess. The secondary is struggling and now comes in one of the best QBs in the college landscape, Drew Lock and his third best passing game.
The Tigers are 1-4 against the Boilers including a 35-3 embarrassment last year. They get their revenge today.
And in the NFL I'll go with the final Mega Bet:
New England -1.0 @ Jacksonville - Tom Brady vs Blake Bortles. Say no more, the analysis stops there.
For the rest of the Point Whore Parlay (gone 3-1 and 2-1 so far. So close....) I'll go with:
Georgia Southern +33.0 @ Clemson
San Jose State +41.0 @ Oregon
The Sheriff got things going last week and now wants:

UCLA (PK) vs Fresno State - The Sheriff was impressed with the Bruins and their improved defense in losing to Oklahoma last week 49-21. The boys were overwhelmed by Kyler Murray and that Sooner offense, but kept hitting and showed a lot of fight. Last year UCLA had the worst run defense in CFB allowing 297 yards per game. This year in two games they are allowing 186 yards per game, still not great but a vast improvement. UCLA also discovered that its freshman QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson can play and will be leading this team for the next 3 years. Fresno State will be tough (Jeff Tedford has turned that program around), but UCLA will get its first win of the year at the Rose Bowl Saturday.
Doofus: I'll go the other way. UCLA is struggling
USC (+3.5) @ Texas - The continuing education of JT Daniels comes to Austin Saturday night as the next great USC QB prepares to play a Texas team that can’t beat Maryland to save its life. Both teams have been unimpressive, but the Sheriff is betting the Condoms will pull off the upset. Daniels will find his favorite wide receiver Amon-Ra St Brown (they played together in high school at Mater Dei) in the end zone at least twice against the Longhorns.
Utah (+6.5) vs Washington - Utah did not look very impressive in beating Northern Illinois last week, but the Utes have the best home field advantage in the PAC-12 and are tough to beat at home. Look for the Huskies to get the win in a close game, but Utah will get the cover
Doofus: Good pick. Put me down for a late quatloo
Here are all the games, times, spreads, picks and much much more
