.It's Michigan week! And for the first time in a long time it has national implications. Michigan is actually good this year.
I'm not going to make any predictions. No way am I going to jinx this game. I'm just going to take the money line on State and hope for the best.
I hear Pete is going to the game. Woz was too nervous and passed on tickets.
Ellis has a daughter getting married at 2:00. I've already gotten the OK to leave to watch the game. Thanks Ellis! I tried talking him into going but he wisely decided to stay at the ceremony. Smart man.
All other games pale in comparison

before I get into this weeks picks here's a great play from Thursday night. Stanford has long shaken off the loss to Northwestern and is rolling through the PAC 12. Their latest victim was UCLA. The Cardinal destroyed the Bruins 56-35 aided by this incredible catch by Francis Owusu
Amazing!!
For this weeks Mega Bets I'll go with:
Houston -19.0 @ Tulane - Tulane is terrible especially on defense. In their three losses the let up an average 0f 50 points. Georgia Tech is struggling but they were able to put up 65 on the Green Wave. Not a good sign with the high powered Cougars come to the Big Easy.
Houston is 6th in points scored with 46 points per game. They Are balacned offensively. They can beat you on the ground averaging 287 yards per game. Or through the air - 286 yards per game. The beat you whichever way the defense allows. Tulane allows teams a ton of ways to win.
It's a revenge game for the Cougars. Tulane beat them 31-24 last year so Houston will be fired up. Its also on national TV so the Cougars will be going for style points too.
The trends strongly favor Houston. They are 12-0 ATS on the road. Tulane os 0-5 as a home dog.

Temple -21.5 vs UCF - If Central Florida can get blown out by UConn at home, what chance do they have against perhaps the best team in the American on the road. I love betting against bad teams on the road espcecially southern team coming up north when the weather starts getting a little nippy (temps expected to be 51 and drop throughout the night)
The Golden Knights have been in complete melt down this year causing head coach George O'Leary to step down as interim AD. Maybe focusing full time on football will get UCF back to where they used to be - contenders in the American conference.
If so, the first area he needs to look at is the passing game. UCF has thrown 12 picks and has not had a pick by the defense.
Temple used to be a Boston College lite type team - great defense anemic offense. The defense is still there. It's allowing only 14 points per game. And that is against teams like Penn State and Cincinnati.
But it's hard to lay 3 touchdowns unless you have a great offense too. This year the Temple offense has shown the ability to put up points. Last week they crushed Tulane 44-10. Much of the credit goes to Jr QB PJ Wlaker. He's hitting on 62% of his passes and has 7 TDs to only 2 picks.
The last time these two teams met, in 2013 and when UCF had a good defense, Walker had a career best night throwing for 382 yards and 4 TDs. He'll have an even better night Saturday night.
Temple burned me earlier this year when they sleepwalked through a win @ UMass. I'll try them again at home against a struggling UCF.
The trends solidly favor Temple. UCF is 0-7 ATS while Temple is 8-2 ATS

Iowa @ Northwestern Under 41.5 - I've been doing pretty good this year on taking over/unders. So far the record is 13-5-0. So I'll take a stab at Mega Betting one.
My favorites are taking unders on two strong defenses with middling to poor offenses. that perfectly describes these two teams.
The highest combined total for Northwestern games so far this year has been a 41 - 0 win over Div 1AA Eastern Illinois. Against Div 1A teams it was last week in a 38-0 loss to Michigan. And that total included a couple under killers - a pick six and a kick return to the house.
Iowa has been in some higher scoring games but when they last faced a strong defense, weak offense team they beat Wisconsin 10-6
The Cats are probably a little gun shy after last week and should start slowly. As long as there are no under killers or OT (the worst under killer of all) this game should score less than 41.

For this weeks Point Whore Parlay I'll go with
Wake Forest +17.0 @ North Carolina - WtF's defense will keep them in the game
Penn State + 17.0 @ Ohio State - Defenses will keep the game low scoring and close
Purdue +24.0 @ Wisconsin - Wiscy shouldn't give 24 to anyone.
I'm also going to go with and Over/Under Parlay with
Baylor @ West Virginia over 75.5
Clemson @ Boston College under 36.5
Oklahoma @ Kansas State Over 54.0
And finally for this weeks Mini Megas I'll go with
Bowling Green -11.5 vs Akron
Florida +9.5 @ LSU
Washington -2.5 vs Oregon

Another week another 1-2 result. For the 4th straight week, the Sheriff went 1-2. He hopes to break the streak with:
God Damn the college football season is half over! It’s ironic the best sport has the shortest regular season, but that just forces us to savor every game. The Sheriff was tempted to bet on the Thursday night game (UCLA vs Stanford) but his picks have been so lousy this year that he didn’t want to jinx the Bruins (even though they are much better on the road than in the Rose Bowl …)
USC (+7) over Notre Dame. The line on this game has moved from (+2) to (+7) so the smart money is going to the Irish, but I’m going to swim upstream on this one and take the Condoms. Firing your drunken, incompetent head coach and rallying around the interim guy is bound to motivate those bastards to play out of their minds. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the Girls of Troy win this game outright.
Northwestern (+1) over Iowa. There is no dishonor in getting beat by a superior team and that is exactly what happened to the Wildcats last week against Michigan. Iowa is most assuredly NOT Michigan and the Purple Haze will bounce back and beat the Hawkeyes.
New Mexico (-5) over Hawaii. The Sheriff hasn’t bet on a Mountain West game this year so he is going to scratch that itch and take the Lobos to beat Hawaii in Albuquerque on Saturday night. New Mexico is 3-3 and seems to have turned a corner under Bob Davie this year after several years of living in the cellar of the Mountain West. Hawaii is never as good on the Mainland as it is in Oahu.
