In order to tune up for the biggest game of the year - Mike and I took in a little MACtion on Wednesday. We traveled over to Deklab to watch Northern Illinois take on Western Michigan.
The highlight for me was actually prior to the game. Before we took to our seats I went to the head and low and behold they had actual porcelain troughs. A tear came to my eye and memories of Spartan games of old came rushing back. A great urination!
The game itself was OK. It had the feel of a large high school game. Just seems that MAC games are more exciting watching them on TV. As is the protocol, Mike and I rooted for the home team. Our half hearted cheers rang out in stands full of quiet. Maybe the cool temperatures and very windy conditions drained a bit of the energy.
The good thing was, I picked Northern to cover and the under too. I got them both.

The stands will be rocking in Columbus though. It's the game we have been looking forward to all year long! It's Michigan State @ Ohio State.
We knew all along that the winnier of this game is the favorite to go represent the Big Ten in the College Football Playoffs.
Sure, State stumbled against Nebraska. But win this and they are in the Big Ten Championship game. Win that too and they are in the CFP. In essence, it's a 2 game playoff to get into the playoff.
For those that want an 8 or 16 team CFP - this is kinda what it looks like.

Look at all the angles you want, the success of the OSU offense behind JT Barrett, the running game with Zeke Elliot, MSU secondary finally getting healthy, but what is the health of Cook and his shoulder?
In the end, no matter how you handicap all those factors, one thing is for certain, this is going to be the toughest, most physical game in all of college football for the enitre season - bar none. It's going to be an outstanding game played by two determined teams.
I can't say who is going to win but whoever doesn't, it won't be because of a lack of effort. These teams are going to come after each other. It doesn't get any then that.
So I'm going to break out the bourbon, open up the cheese popcorn, strap on my chinstrap, sit back with friends and watch a great game.
Can I get a Go Green!!
Amen brother.
One other thing that is certain about the game - no way in hell am I Mega Betting it. I learned my lesson two weeks ago.
And I won't Mega bet a game at the same time slot so I won't be tempted to do a live look in and get distracted. The Spartans are going to need my full undivided attention.
With that in mind I'm going with only two Mega bests this week:.

Indiana +3.0 @ Maryland - I had to do a double take when I saw this line. Maryland is favored? Now the last time I did a double take like that, USC did indeed deserved to be favored as they crushed Utah.
But that is not the case here. Maryland is just not that good. And Indiana will finally, finally, get over the hump.
The Hoosiers seem to play just good enough to lose whether it's double OT to Michigan, failing to score from inside the 10 against Ohio State, a late collapse against Michigan State or a huge comeback gaffe to Rutgers. When its crunch time the Hoosiers have consistently failed.
Not this week. Indiana is still playing with grit and can still make a bowl with a win here and next week against Purdue. This is a favorable matchup up for Indiana. The weakenss in their defense is in the secondary but Maryland can't throw a lick. Terp QB couldn't hit the ocean if he was throwng off a cruise ship. His 28 picks is tied for the most over the last 20 years.Maryland will need to run the ball. Something Indiana is much better at.
Hoosier RB Jordan Howard is a star in the making. He ran for 238 yards last week - the 2nd most ever against scUM. Howard is on a roll and will find plenty of holes against an OK Maryland defense.

Minnesota -1.0 vs Green Bay - There's got to be something wrong with Aaron Rodgers. Somewhere along the line the porous Green Bay offensive line let him take one to many knocks. He's been awful. If you can only score If you can only score 3 points against the Lions (at home no less) through 54 minutes - you are a bad bad offense.
Minnesota's DL will be hounding Rodgers all day while All Day Petereson will gash a below average Packer defense. Rodgers has covered up for the defense for years. This year it is getting exposed.
Vegas has been underestimating the Vikings all year. They are 9-1 against the spread. Make that 10-1
And I'll lay down some Mini Megas this week too with:
Minnesota -4.5 vs illinois - Going with the revenge angle here. Illinois upset the Gophers last year 28-24. That, and Illinois has no offense. they have scored 21 points once against Power 5 teams - versus a bad Purdue team. The main problem is keeping drives alive as tehy convert only 35.5% on third down.
HC Claeys is a covering machine. He is 9-1 against the spread including a stint where he filled in for former HC Jerry Kills back in 2013.

Air Force +11.0 @ Boise State - I think whoever sets the line for Boise State this year has gone on a year long bender. The lines are set like this is the BSU teams of the past. It's not.
The Broncos were giving 9.5 to Utah State. They lost. They gave 35 to Wyoming and won by 20. Last week they were giving 30 to New Mexico - they lost! Boise State just lost to New Mexico last week. This is just not the Boise State you've come to love.
Air Force has enough defense to hang with a Bronco offense that is a shell of what it used to be.
Southern Miss -21.0 vs Old Dominion - This would be a Mega bet if it weren't on at the same time as the MSU game.
No team is hotter in the CUSA right now than the Golden Eagles. Over the last four games they have blown out their opponents by an average score of 44-11. The Monarchs are a bottom feeder in the conference. the pass defense is atrocious ranking 95th overall. USM will bomb away for an easy win in front of the home crowd.
San Diego +3.0 vs Kansas City - The Chargers are coming off a bye allowing their banged up OL a chance to get some guys back. With time to throw Rivers will carve up a suspect Chiefs secondary. Meanwhile, Kansas City is going to be flat after beating noodle arm Peyton Maning and the Broncos.

Week 12 Bettors Guide.xlsx |
The Sheriff went 2-1 again last week. He is doing much better now that he is staying inside the PAC 12. This week he sent these picks over:
I hope you guys kick some ass in Columbus on Saturday, I will be rooting for you.
Oregon (-4) over USC. The Sheriff was very impressed with the Ducks last Saturday against Stanford. Oregon has improved by leaps and bounds from the team that got destroyed by Utah a month ago. Vernon Adams is healthy and using the entire playbook. If they can do that to Stanford, they should have no problem beating the Condoms at home.
Cal (+11) Stanford. The Golden Bears are not going to win this game, but Cal will show up and play hard. In a rivalry game, I always take the points.
Washington State (-15) over Colorado. Oh my, the Cougs are in second place in the Pac-12 North and the Wazzu bandwagon is getting crowded. The Sheriff was here early so he has the right to crow a bit. With two games left against Colorado and Washington, the Cougs should finish the season 9-3 and get a pretty good bowl game.
Doofus: Colorado lost a heartbreaker to USC last week. They also lost their starting QB. The Buffs will start freshman Cade Apsay.
Remember the 2016 GO JUMBO trip is Nov 5th 2015 at the Westgate Resort
