And there goes the Bowl game.
Nothing more to say about State. They lost a game they desperately needed to win to stay in bowl contention. The same old problems continued, poor tackling, blown assignments, dropped balls, the list goes on… and on…Doesn’t seem to be getting fixed either.
As Joe texted “When does basketball start?”
Not soon enough.
As far as football, it’s back to old times when you expect a loss and go nuts over an upset. Fun when it happens. But miserable in between.
The Spartans weren’t the only ones rueing a loss. Chris has been pretty cocky lately about his Bucknuts. He was making reservations for the Big Ten championship game and the playoffs.
Ohio State was cruising past Penn State. They had taken a 21-7 lead on a muffed punt by the Nits which resulted in a safety.
Penn State special teams made up for that miscue and then some. Ahead 21-17 Ohio State lined up for a 45 yard FG to take a touchdown lead when this happened

Chris has been strangely silent since.
Safe to say that James Franklin got himself off the Coaching Hot Seat.
But there was a coach who succumbed to Hot Seat - Fresno State's Tim DeRuyer. DeRuyter was 4-16 over the last two years with only two wins over Div 1A teams. Surprisingly he was not on the BBofG Coaching Hot Seat of Death. Not sure how I missed Tim.
OC Eric Kiesau will take over as interim HC. Scuttle butt is that former Cal HC Jeff Tedford is the leading candidate. Tedford played QB at Fresno and has a ton of ties to the program. Kiesau was the Golden Bears’ receivers coach from 2002 to ’05 and receivers coach and passing game coordinator in 2011. Fresno State receivers coach Burl Toler III played for Cal under Tedford, and running backs coach and special teams coordinator Dave Ungerer spent one year at Cal.
Ohio State wasn't the only highly ranked team to fall. Houston lost their second game in three weeks when the lost to lowly SMU 38-16. The Cougars could never got on track. They fumbled their first two possessions. Meanwhile the Mustangs went TD, missed FG, TD and TD to start the game as they bolted to a 21-0 lead. No doubt, Tom Herman's hotter than hot coaching candidacy has cooled a bit.

Bama fans were also a little upset at their game too. Not because of the team. The Tide continued to march to the playoffs by methodically taking down #6 Texas A&M.
What got them "pissed" was the announcement just before halftime that the fans should avoid using the bathrooms because of water pressure issues.
Let me get this straight, 100,000 plus rednecks, who been tailgating since they finished their night shift at WalMarts, and you make an announcement to just hold it?
That's why I enjoy watching football from the comforts of my own Doofus Deck. I can get booze whenever I want, have a cigar with no hassles, plenty of food at grocery store prices and ready access to the biff whenever I want. The only downfall is there's no troughs to piss in and I'm supposed to put the lid back down.

Mike wants to know what the official rules are on doinks, pick nines and such. Well, so far we have a doink is worth an extra point. I texted Joe at the end of regulation of the Falcons game that, even though Atlanta missed the game winning walk off FG, they doinked it and therefore won the game by 1. No need for OT. Joe agreed and wants the NFL to get their crap together on doinks
Definitely an interception TD from your own end zone is worth nine but we haven't scaled it yet from where it's worth "only" 6 up to 9. Joe, you need to come to Vegas to help set the official rules.
The Big Book of Guesses had a second straight week of good college picks going 29-23-3. The Doofus went 1-1 on the Mega Bets with
South Florida -6.5 @ Temple - Temple HC wanted his Owls to get tough. They listened and bowled over the softer Bulls. RB RyQuell Armstead blasted USF for 210 yards as Temple pounded out a 46-30 LOSS
UMass +20.0 @ South Carolina - The Gamecocks used their bye week to prep freshman QB Jake Bentley for his first start. They coaches did a nice job as he started out on fire as he led the Cocks to 34-14 lead after 3. But the Minutemen didn't flinch as the offense scored twice in the 4th quarter to cut the lead to 34-28. South Carolina was able to run the last 4 minutes off the clock to win the game and preserve my cover. WIN

I also went 2-2 on the Mini Megas with
NC State +19.5 @ Louisville - Not even close. The Cards jumped to a 44-0 lead at the half before cruising to a 54-13 win. Ellis says that what you get for betting on NC State LOSS
Wisconsin -4.5 @ Iowa - Got a bit of a break here. Bucky kicked a FG with 1:24 left to take a 17-6 lead. But Iowa took the ensuing kickoff back 77 yards to set up first and 10 at the 23. The Hawkeyes drove to the Wisconsin 7 and on 3rd down threw for a TD! But the ruling on the field was overturned and on 4th down kicked a FG to make it 17-9. They kicked the onside out of bounds and Wiscy ran out the clock. Whew WIN
Oklahoma @ Texas Tech Under 85.5 - Not even close. I thought the Sooners would contain the Red Raider offense enough to et the under. Instead these two teams seta record with over 1,700 yards of offense in a 66-59 Okie win LOSS
Colorado +2.0 @ Stanford - Now this game was an under. The Buffs picked off the Cardinal on consecutive possessions in the fourth quarter to preserve a 10-5 win. Colorado is now bowl eligivle for the first time since 2007. I'll go out on a limb and say that Preseason Coaching Hot Seat candidate Mike McIntyre is now safely off the hot seat.

And a Point Whore Parlay win made for a profitable Saturday
Eastern Michigan +22.5 @ Western Michigan - Getting more than 3 TDs is nice. The biggest lead for the Rowers was 21 when Western scored a TD with 8 minutes left to go up 45-24. Eastern sealed the cover with a late TD to make the final 45-31. Another Hot Seat candidate who is safe is Eastern's Chris Creighton. He has the Hurons on the verge of bowl eligibility at 5-3. WIN
Hawaii +16.5 @ Air Force - Getting 16.5 going into OT is pretty nice too. Hawaii pulled it out in the second OT to win outright 34-27 WIN
Oregon State +37.0 @ Washington - It's not often that the Doofus is right and the Sheriff is wrong on the same game but 37 is just too much to give. By the end of three it looked like the Sheriff may be right as Washinton led 41-10. But the Huskies called off the dogs in the fourth quarter and started subbing freely. Oregon State scored a TD to make the final Washington 41 Oregon State 17 WIN
The Doofus went back to normal by giving all the winnings back on Sunday with a Mega Bet Loss on
Minnesota -3.0 @ Philadelphia - What an ugly game. These two teams combined for 5 turnovers in the first ten minutes.
Viking QB Sam Bradford who didn't have a turnover coming into the game threw a pick from the Eagles six and then was strip sacked at the Eagle on the next drive.
A kickoff return was the only TD in the first half. Philly QB Carson Wentz led the only good drive of the game to start the 3rd quarter as he took the Eagles 77 yards to go up 18-3. The Vikings go a TD late after an Eagle fumble to make the final 21-10. Minnesota became the last NFL team to lose a game in 2016 LOSS

The NFL Mini Megas went 1-0-1 as:
Saints +6.0 @ Kansas City - The Chiefs kicked a FG with 28 seconds left to get the push. Crap. Drew Brees throwing a pick six and Saints Mark Ingraam fumbling at the Chiefs 7 didn't help matters either PUSH
Miami +3.0 vs Buffalo - Rex Ryan decided to play LeSean McCoy despite being injured. Bad move as he repulled his hammy in the second half. He rushed for a total 11 yards.
Meanwhile Miami RB Jay Ajayi became only the 4th runner to have back to back 200 yard games joining Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams and an someone still looking for his wife's killer.
Buffalo scored a TD to cut the lead to 28-25 but the onside kick failed for the Miami WIN
