What a Saturday of College Football. If you are a football degenerate like me you watch from Noon to midnight. Every block from Noon to 3:30 to 7:30 to football after dark had just a fecal load of great games (setting aside the Michigan State game..don’t get me going)
At Noon you had Maryland nearly knocking off Michigan, Clemson and Wake Forest going in double OT, Auburn needing OT to beat Mizzou, Baylor upsetting Iowa State and Kansas and Duke in a shootout.
By the time you get catch your breath and watch the 3:30 block you get – one ugly game that won’t be mentioned, Texas Tech upsetting Texas, Tennessee and Florida in a tight one, Oregon scoring 22 points in less than 3 minutes to beat Wazzou and Tulsa holding Ole Miss scoreless in the 2nd half but the Golden Hurricane comeback falls short.

You’ve already had two weekends of great games and the day is only half way through. In the7:30 block you get Arkansas losing to A&M in a wild finish (more on that later) along with Kansas State beating Oklahoma for the 3rd time in 4 years.
And the nightcap games had one more good one. USC coming back to knock off Oregon State. So close Beavers.
Except for that one darn game, it really was a fun weekend.
Is it me or is the Coaching Carousel spinning even faster this year? I thought Scott Frost would get fired after the Oklahoma game. He didn’t even make it to the game. I thought Herm Edwards would survive until sanctions were imposed. He made it to a week after Frost.

I thought Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech would get fired after the season Tech doesn’t have the cash or lunatic fan base that bigger schools have to demand a mid year firing and yet – after 9 straight losses to Div 1A schools and likely three consecutive 3 win seasons – Collins is out.
And unlike bigger schools with bigger boosters, and because Tech really does have tight academic standards, (Yeah I’m looking at you scUM), Tech will be several rungs below where rising star coaches are likely to want to go.
Collins got launched before the guy I thought would get the Ziggy next, Bryan Harsin.
They likely would have gone the same day if this wouldn’t have happened

What a great catch but then Mizzou misses a chip shot 26 yard FG, a controversial win in OT and Harsin survives another week.
I had to consult Joe, our world renowned certified doink expert. In our universe, doinks are worth an extra point. But this?

The ruling that it was an ultra rare Toink! A top end doink and worth 2 extra points. So while the record books have recorded it an A&M 23-21 win, we all know it as a 26-23 Arkansas win.
A&M was struggling early until they were supercharged by this play.

Not just your every day scoop six, Demani Richardson ripped the ball from his teammate to score.
Wake Forest just can’t seem to win against top-10 teams. WtF have now dropped 63 consecutive games against top-10 opponents. The last win? At No. 4 Tennessee in 1946. And they have never beaten a top-10 team at home.
Duke, which won against Clemson on Sept. 30, 1989, is the only other Power 5 team that hasn’t defeated an AP top-10 opponent in the 21st century. Nice company.
Time for a new Fun Belt Darling. App State beat Texas A&M and got Game Day to come to Boone. James Madison, in its first year in Div 1A (and so not bowl eligible) just knocked off those Wolvie and Aggie killers 32-28.

Who leads the nation in run defense? By a mile it’s the FBS rookie. JMU is allowing just 28 yards per game. Appalachian State ran over Texas A&M for 181 yards in its 17-14 win a few weeks ago. It ran for just 63 against James Madison.
Four games into the Cristobal era, the honeymoon is over. The Hurricanes lost as a 25.5 point favorite at home. The fans are still booing.
Perhaps, they are wondering who designed this play.

Now I can’t get the Benny Hill theme song out of my head.
Even uglier – in week 3 Miami had 27 first downs and no TDs – a record.
By the way James Madison beat Middle Tennessee State too – just saying.
JMU is now one of only 6 unbeaten and unranked teams. You can arguments as to why that is for UCLA, Syracuse, TCU, Coastal Carolina and JMU, but Kansas? The Jayhawks not only beat previously unbeaten Duke but more importantly covered too. QB Jalon Daniels deserves some Heisman hype. He finished the game throwing for 324 yards with 4 TDs and ran for another 83 yards and a TDs. If I do the math right, that’s a combined….407 yards and 5 TDs.

What’s the worst state for football? Colorado and Colorado State are a combined 0-8 and have been outscored 90-337. Rumor is that the Department of Defense is looking to move 3-1 Air Force out of state before the contagion hits.
Remember when Boise State was consistent, as in consistently good. Things have gone horribly awry under second-year coach Andy Avalos. After going a disappointing 7-5 in his debut season things are getting much better. On Friday the Broncos got bucked 27-10 to a bad 1-3 UTEP (costing me a parlay by the way). After the game, Avalos fired OC Tim Plough and promoted a name you might remember: Dirk Koetter.
Long before his eventual rise to being an NFL head coach at Tampa Bay, Koetter, was Boise’s head coach from 1998-2000, going 26-10. Is Avalos’ replacement already on the staff?

And speaking of parlay busters how does Kansas State lose to Tulane and then beat Oklahoma. OK, I was buying into Tulane might actually be good and then.. Southern Miss 27 Wave 24
I’m taking a break from parlays, I went with 3 and all three lost by one team.
Until this week that is
Remember the GO JUMBO weekend is Oct 29th at the Westgate SuperBook
And don't forget your drink coupons!
