My apologies to the fan(s) of the Big Book of Guesses for getting
the picks out so late. Work has decided that I need to actually work and has put the Doofus on a cross country assignment. Not getting much time for the important things in life like FOOTBALL!
It was The Good The Bad and The Ugly last week. One pick was damn good, one was bad and one was just one of those things.
The good pick - Ole Miss +2.5 @ Texas – Texas is one hot mess right now. As expected the defense under Greg Robinson was rolled. Down 23-14 Ole Miss reeled off 31 straight easy points for a 45-23 WIN. Word on the street is that Texas has reached out to super agent Jimmy Sexton to see if St Nick might be interested in the job next year.
The bad pick - Western Kentucky -10.0 @ South Alabama – I’ll admit it I woefully underestimated South Alabama. Things were looking good when WKU ended the first half up 21-10 but then the South Alabama offense got into gear. The second half was all
Jaguars as they outscored the Hilltoppers 21-3. Three turnover doomed WKU as they lost outright 31-24 LOSS
And the ugly – New Orleans -3.0 @ Tampa Bay - Sometimes games just don’t go your way. Two turnovers by the Saints including a Drew Brees pick six led to all Buc points. With the high powered Saints offense this should have been a cake walk. The Saints were 19-1 against the spread when keeping their opponents to 14 or less points. But not this week, New Orleans pulled out a 16-14 win but didn’t cover LOSS Goofy results like this happen. Just hope I am getting them out of the way before the GO JUMBO weekend.

That brings the results so far this year to 4-5. Typical slow start to the year.
But I’ll keep pushing on - but I’ll ratchet it back with only two games this week - going with:
Missouri -2.0 @ Indiana – The Hoosier offense is rolling averaging 571 yards and 50 points per game. But they were against Indiania State, Bowling Green and a loss to Navy. Now a half way decent SEC team rolls into Bloomington. Mizzou has a pretty good attack too averaging 539 yards and 55 points a game against similar competition. The difference is the Tigers won their games, have a better defense and have had a week off to prepare for the Hoosier attack. Missouri is 9-3 ATS as a visiting favorite and 7-3 ATS against non conference foes since 2010.
San Diego +3.0 @ Tennessee - Phil Rivers has been playing well again. Last week, despite traveling to the East Coast for a 1:00 game, Rivers completed 12-13 thrid down passes – converting 8 for first downs. Going to ride him until he reverts back to being a liability. Tennessee is coming off a deflating overtime loss to Houston last week and
could come out flat. San Diego is 5-2 ATS on the road.
