Stuffed!!
Finally!! After losing so many close games – the Spartans finally won one last night. Spartan QB Andrew Maxwell continues to suck but when the replaced him with back up Connor Cook they started to move.
As the third quarter was winding down MSU was down 13-0 and was going nowhere on offense. A son of Doofus was about to throw in the towel. I told him – just wait, if they get a TD the boys in green are back in the game. Sure enough Cook leads the Spartans on a 90 yards scoring drive to cut the lead to 13-7.
The Spartan D was tremendous in the second half holding the Horny Toads to 88 yards of total offense. And the special teams chipped in too recovering a muffed punt at the TCU 4 to set up the tying TD. But TCU was not done. They are tremendously coached and were not going to back down. With 4:26 left they drove to the MSU 36 and kicked a bowl record 53 yards FG – taking a 16-14 lead.

Touchdown MSU!!
MSU coach Mark Dantanio had wisely used two timeouts during the TCU drive and got the ball back with 2:42 left. After a season of blowing games like this – it was time to finally win one. Conner Cook came back in and calmly ed MSU on 45 yard drive to the TCU 30. The 47 yard FG was good and MSU was back on top 17-16 with 1:01.
I finished off one more finger of Jameson’s and waited to see if MSU would pull this one out. No problem -the defense stepped up one more time. TCU went 4 plays for minus 7 yards and the game was over. Great game!!

Sparty On!!
Good enough for me to forget the dumb pick I made yesterday
Week 18 Part 3 Recap
West Virginia vs Syracuse Over 70.0 – I am such an idiot (Pat and Pete are nodding their heads even before I finish the sentence). I had a write up on why the weather would make this game go under and then decided to go for the over just for the fun of it. Sure enough – the heavy snow and slippery conditions affected the play. By halftime the teams had combined for a paltry 19 points. Getting the over seemed about as probable as Fuss swearing off the ponies.
The third quarter was a different story – Syracuse was hot putting up 23 points. Add in a ‘Neer TD and suddenly the over was in reach. Just 21 points more in the last quarter and I could get a push. No such luck. With the Orange up by 21 points they were in milking the clock mode. The teams combined for a FG and the game went way under. And to add to the stupidity – I changed my pick vs the spread from Syracuse to WVU right before kickoff. Final score Syracuse 38 WVU 14 LOSS
Oregon State -3.5 vs Texas – Better game but same result. Oregon State was in control of this game through three quarters taking a 27-17 lead. But behind a home crowd in the Alamo Dome the Horns took control of the fourth quarter. Texas scored 14 unanswered to win 31-27 LOSS
It’s silly week in the NFL with teams benching starters, bad teams mailing it in, good teams coasting. Nothing will make sense this week except for one thing. Teams that need to win to make into the playoffs typically don’t there is a reason they need to win to get in – they’re not that good. With that in mind I will only make one Mega Bet today going with:
Week 18 Part 4 Mega Bet
Atlanta -3.0 vs Tampa Bay – This game means nothing to Atlanta. They are going to bench their starter – so take the Bucs and the points right? Nope – Tampa Bay is in their annual melt down mode. And Atlanta is great in week 17. They are undefeated in the last week under HC Mike Smith. The Falcons will treat this like a practice and blow out the reeling Bucs
