The NFL winning streak continued with
Minnesota +4.0 @ Miami - Nothing like getting up 14-0 when getting points. Minnesota scored on their first possession and then after punting on their second the Vikings picked off Miami QB Ryan Tannehill returning it to the Dolphins 23. Teddy Bridgewater then hit WR Greg Jennings for a TD to make it 14-0. Things were looking good. It looked like Miami was going to fold like a cheap suit and Minnesota was going to cruise.
Nope to that. Then game was going to turn into one of the most exciting ones of the year.
Miami responded with a beautiful 92 yards TD drive to cut the lead to 14-7. Minnesota closed out the half with a FG to make it 17-7 after 2. The fun was about to start.
Ryan Tannehill played out of his mind in the second half. Miami went on four drives and scored a TD on every one in the second half including this one to Mike Wallace on the first possession.

But Minnesota kept pace.
After Miami scored to go up 28-20 with 6:39 left (and for the first time all game that I didn't have the cover. I was pissed. Up 14-0 and now no cover?!) the Vikes responded with a 60 yard TD drive and two point coversion to tie it 28 all. Nice
Even better, Miami muffed the kick off and Minnesota recovered at the 5. Sweet! One play later and its 35-28 Vikings with 4:35 left.
Miami and Tannehill were not done. He leads the Fins on yet another TD drive to tie it 35 all with 1:11 left.
Then things got strange. Minnesota had the ball with under a minute to play and all three time outs left. I figured that they would either win on a FG or this thing would go into OT.
Minnesota went three and out burning one time out and forcing Miami to burn their last one. Crap!
They dropped back to punt and BLOCK! The Fins block the punt and the ball rolls out the end zone. Safety!
Miami won the game 37-35 on a safety. It was the first time in NFL history that a game was won in the last minute of regulation on a safety. Last year, Miami beat Cincinnati in OT on a safety on Halloween, but this was the first time it happened in regulation.
Actually it worked out well for me. I was getting four and lost by two WIN
No Mega bets today. The BYU Memphis game should be a dandy. I like Memphis to continue their remarkable turnaround so I'll lay the 1.5 but I'm not laying any quatloos on it.
Denver -3.0 @ Cincinnati should be a good one too. I like Denver giving the points but not enough to Mega bet it.
The Sheriff made his picks for the bowl season. He likes:
I picked 10 games for shits and giggles. My goal is to win 7 of 10, but given my track record this year, I’ll be happy if I win half of them.
Utah (-3) over Colorado State. Vegas Bowl. Colorado State’s head coach recently left the program to become Florida’s HC so the Ram’s motivation is suspect. Kyle Whittingham should have the Utes ready to play.
Navy (+2.5) over San Diego State. Poinsettia Bowl. The Midshipmen are a tough team and that triple option is always difficult to prepare for. San Diego is a navy town, too.
Central Michigan (+3) over Western Kentucky. Bahamas Bowl. I don’t know squat about either of these teams, but I’m fascinated by the thought of a college football game being played on a Caribbean island. When in doubt, take the points.

USC (-6.5) over Nebraska. Holiday Bowl. Another team (the Cornhuskers) being coached by an interim guy who won’t be there in the spring. I’ll take the Condoms.
Arkansas (-6) over Texas. Texas Bowl. The Hogs finished the year on a roll and are probably the best last place team in a Power 5 conference.
LSU (-7.5) over Notre Dame. Music City Bowl. This is the easiest pick on the Board – I thought this would be a two touchdown spread. The Irish lost their last 4 games and are crawling into the post season on their hands and knees.
Stanford (-14) over Maryland. Foster Farms Bowl. The Cardinal finished the season strong crushing UCLA and Cal. This game is in their backyard in Santa Clara, the 49ers home field.
Auburn (-6.5) over Wisconsin. Outback Bowl. Another team (Badgers) with an interim coach. Plus Wisconsin was annihilated in the Big 10 Title game 59-0. What kind of mindset will they have for this game?
Doofus: The Big Guy is pleased.
Florida State (+9) over Oregon. Rose Bowl. My heart is rooting for the Ducks in what should be the best Bowl game of the season, but my head says that number is just too big.
Tennessee (-3.5) over Iowa. Taxslayer Bowl. Mediocre SEC team beats half-assed Big 10 team.
Good picks. I'll be sending down mine from the Alpine Command as the week progresses. Plenty of beverages were brought up from HQ in case conditions worsen.
