Mrs. Doofus was celebrating Auburn's victory
The Doofus Deck had a new addition last weekend – The Doofus TV Tower. A homemade stand stacking three TVs all blaring college football. Even three TVs weren’t enough and Chris was sent home to bring back a cable box to hook up a fourth TV. It was college football heaven.
The afternoon started out on some real high notes. Bruce and I were high fiving as Georgia Tech put the Terrapins on their back in a 33-13 win. Dwink was sharing in the high fives as Army grounded Air Force keeping the Black Knights in the driver’s seat for their first Commander in Chief trophy since 1996.
Mrs Doofus scored a cheap seat and was smiling as she watched Auburn get a rare victory beating New Mexico State 42-7. Nothing beats having the Mrs. In a happy mood.
Then it all came crashing down as MSU got screwed by the refs - dropping a heartbreaker to Nebraska. I’m not going to talk about it. You can go on about they shouldn’t have been in a position to lose to a bad call yada yada yada - but in the end they scored on a pick 6 to go ahead 31-10 and had it reversed. No way was the MSU defense going to let a 31-14 lead slip away – especially at home. It was the fourth straight game that was decided in the last 10 seconds for the Spartans – going 1-3. Definitely a pay back for all the close wins they won last year.
Oh well, several adult beverages later I was over it and capped off the evening off with exciting pair of games Oregon vs USC and LSU vs Bama (though I did lose a side bet to Chris by taking the under on the USC game. Guess I got distracted by his personally designed flaming boots.) Great games and a great time.
Good enough that I got the OK to have back to back Doofus deck parties. Mrs Doofus is heading to Auburn and while the cat’s away ….. Now, if I can only get the OK to have back to back GO JUMBO weekends.

The Doofus was one happy hamster over the Week 10 picks
And my mood was further uplifted by going a phenomenal 3-0 on the Mega Bets and 2-0 on the Mini Megas as:
Week 10 Mega Bet Recap:
Oregon -7.5 @USC – While I was losing the side bet to Flaming Chris, I was taking down a mega bet as Oregon rolled USC 62-51. The Ducks needed only 65 seconds to get their first of 9 touchdowns. USC kept it close through three quarters – scoring a TD to get within three 41-38. But the Quack Attack needed only 1:13 to get the lead back up 10 - maintaining serve as they covered the 7.5 point spread 62-51. WIN
Bama @ LSU Under 41 - As always, this game was a defensive slugfest. In an exciting finish, Bama scored a TD wth 51 seconds left to win the game 21-17 and keeping the game under 41 WIN
Seattle -4.0 vs Minnesota – The two best rushers in the NFL, Marshawn Lynch and Adrian Peterson went at it combining for over 300 rushing yards. In a back and forth game Seattle trailed 17 -14 late in the third quarter. Seattle rallied for 16 more points to win 30-20 covering the 4 point spread.
By the way, the Big Book of Guesses has been on a tear lately in the NFL. Over the last 3 weeks it’s gone 31-10 against the spread. Now that I have put it out there, I’m sure I’ll revert back to the norm.
In the Mini Megas
PSU -3.5 @ Purdue PSU blasted a fading Boiler team 34-9 WIN
Tulsa 9.5 @ Arkansas – In a surprisingly low scoring game the Hogs needed a fourth quarter TD to win the game 19-15 but leaving Tulsa with the cover WIN
Let’s hope it’s the Doofus Deck parties that are leading to the Mega Bet success!
This week I’m going with
Week 11 Mega Bets
Atlanta @ New Orleans Over 53.5 – The Saints defense is down right awful. They can’t stop the run or the pass. Matt Ryan is going to have his way in the Big Easy. And Drew Brees can light up defenses when he is in the Super Dome. Atlanta’s Achilles heel has been its defense and is going to get torched. This one has lots of fun written all over it.
Texas A&M +13.5 @ Bama – Bama’s defense is a bit overrated. LSU’s average offense was getting some nice points. In comes A&M with a much higher powered offense. Bama is coming off a big game and may be just a little deflated. A&M wil keep this closer than the spread
Notre Dame -18.5 @ Boston College – ND knows they need a blow out after last week. BC is just what the doctor ordered. The Eagles are arguably the worst team in Div 1A. Its their bowl game and a rivalry game to boot but they will get blown out
I like a couple of Mini Megas too
Syracuse +1.5 vs Louisville. Louisville is undefeated but is hanging by a thread. Their defense has been exposed. Syracuse has the Big East’s best offense. Look for the Orange to upset the Cardinals in the Carrier Dome and another undefeated goes down
Ole Miss -2.5 vs Vanderbilt – Mississippi’s underrated high powered offense will roll through Vandy’s defense as the Rebs continue their turnaround
And here are all the Week 11 picks
