Week 10 is in the books. Lots of great action this last week.
Let’s take a look at the Top 25 and see how they did
1. Mississippi State -10.5 vs Arkansas - This game was a dog fight throughout. The Hogs jumped out to a 10-0 lead. The Bulldogs were struggling, turning it over three times in the first half.
But they kept on plugging away taking finally taking the lead 17-10 early in the fourth quarter. Arkansas was driving for a tying TD getting the ball to the MSU 16 with 22 seconds left. A pick ended the game.
Arkansas got the cover in a 17-10 loss.
The other MSU is ripe for an upset. Arkansas is winless in the SEC but plays tough. The Hogs are 7-2 against the spread.
2. Florida State -3.5 @ 25. Louisville – Say what you will about Jameis Winston’s off the field antics, on the field he is incredible. Down 21-0 in front of a fired up crowd at Papa John’s, Winston single handedly brought the Seminoles back to the win.
After throwing three picks in the first half, Jameis threw three TDs in the second.
FSU went TD, TD missed FG and TD to take a 28-24 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
Louisville countered with a TD to go up 31-28. This was an exciting game
With 6 minutes left Louisville made a short punt from their 11 which FSU returned to the Cardinal 38. RB Dalvin Cook ran it in from there. FSU 35 L’Ville 31.
Louisville punted on their next possession and FSU put the game away and sealed the cover with a Winston 35 yard strike to WR Freddie Stevenson.
FSU has been the Kardiac Kids this year getting behind big and then rebounding to win. Won’t be long before that catches up to them. Then again maybe the play is to fade FSU in the first half. the

3. Ole Miss -2.0 vs Auburn – Easily the best game of the week. The Big Guy got his money’s worth when he went to this game.
This game was a heavy weight match that went all 15 rounds. The game had 5 lead changes with Auburn taking a 35-31 lead with 10 minutes left.
But it was a play that was gruesome and incredible at the same time that made this game so memorable. Ole Miss WR LaQuon Treadwell made a brilliant catch and tackle breaking 20 yard TD. But the tackle destroyed his leg and he fumbled the ball.
The play was initially ruled a TD but as Treadwell was writhing in pain the refs were reviewing the play to see if he broke the plane prior to fumbling. ESPN was apologizing for having to show the replays but it was the key play of the game. It was either a game winning TD or game clinching fumble recovery by Auburn.
The refs overturned the call and ruled it a fumble. It was the correct call. Ball game and cover Auburn.
Bo Wallace exorcised some demons after the blunders last week to LSU as he went off for 341 yards and 2 TDs passing against the Tigers. But he is still too up and down for me.
Auburn’s offense is amazing as they shredded the Land Shark defense for 502 yards. But the defense struggles. That said, for the second straight week the caused a late turnover to win the game. Overs look like the way to go with Auburn.
5. Oregon -8.0 vs Stanford – The return of Oregon OT Jake Fisher has been huge. Since his return the Ducks have scored 42, 45, 59 and this week 45 in a blowout win over Stanford.
Coming into the game Stanford was allowing 12.5 points per game. The Ducks made mince meat of that stat churning out 525 yards of offense.
The Cardinal hung around for most of the game and were trailing 24-16 late in the third. But then Oregon took it up another notch reeling off 21 straight points in the fourth to win and cover 45-16.
Stanford is overrated by the public and is 2-6 ATS the spread this year.
6. Alabama – Bye – Resting up for a classic match up with LSU this week.

6. Alabama – Bye – Resting up for a classic match up with LSU this week.
7. TCU -5.5 @ 20. West Virginia – Another great nail biter game. West Virginia led 30-21 at the start of the fourth quarter and a huge upset seemed to be in the making. But a Frog TD with 6:33 left put the game back in reach.
TCU’s defense returned to form forcing a three and out with 2 minutes left setting up the dramatic ending.
With 1:28 left QB Trevone Boykin hit on a 40 yard bomb to WR Kolby Listenbee getting the Frogs to the WVU 27 with one time out left. RB BJ Catalon pounded it out on the ground burning up the clock and getting it to the WVU 22.
TCU then got the walk off FG to get the win but not the cover 31-30.
I like West Virginia. The offense can move and the defense is better than expected. TCU could be overrated. They needed 5 turnovers to pull this game out.
8. Michigan State – Bye – Huge game with Ohio State this week. Game Day will be in town.

9. Kansas State -14.5 vs Oklahoma State – Blow out city. KSU racked up 421 yards of offense and the defense forced three turnover is a 48-14 win and cover.
OSU is living off reputation. They suck. The Cowboys are 3-6 against the spread including 4 straight non-covers. Fade the Pokes.
10. Notre Dame -14.0 @ Navy – The Domers defense has gone bye bye. They’ve let up 43 to UNC, 31 to FSU and now 39 to Navy.
Good thing Everett Golson was on fire throwing for 6 TDs. ND scored TDs on their first four possessions but then coasted as Navy got it within 3 to start the fourth quarter. Notre Dame scored 21 in the fourth to win but not cover 49-39.
Notre Dame is overrated.

11. Georgia -12.5 vs Florida (Jacksonville) – Georgia went from dark horse playoff candidate to calling for HC Mark Richt’s head in one week.
Jason went to the game wearing some borrowed Dawg gear. He picked the wrong team.
The Dawgs run defense was putrid in this game. Florida went about 1 page into the playbook as they ran left, ran right and ran center all day. When it was all said and done , the Gators reeled off an incredible 418 yards rushing.
Florida spotted Georgia a TD. But got back into the game with this play.

The Gators then brutalized the Dawgs for 31 straight points on the way to a 38-20 win and cover.
The Sax Man and I were talking about wouldn’t it be great if Georgia won the SEC east and then the SEC championship. What woud the playoff committee do in that scenario. Especially if they beat an undefeated Mississippi State . Do they pass on a 2 or 3 loss SEC champion? Do they take 2 SEC teams. Imagine having one loss and sitting out because a 3 loss Georgia team got in.
12. Arizona +6.5 @ UCLA – Vegas knew Arizona was overrated as they were giving points to lesser ranked team.
And that was the UCLA defense we’ve been waiting for - limiting the Wildcats to 80 yards rushing. UCLA put this game away in the third quarter scoring 2 TDs on the way to a 17-7 win and cover.
13. Baylor -35.5 vs Kansas – Baylor bounced back with a vengeance after their loss to WVU and week bye week to stew over it. Kansas never had a chance. Bears win and cover 60-14.
14. Arizona State -6.0 vs 17. Utah – Another great game. 60 minutes were not enough to decide this game.
Utah’s defense was bending but not breaking. The Forks had 444 yards of offense but kept having to go for FGs.
But Utah kicker Zane Gonzalez missed not one but to FGs, none more crucial than in OT. ASU then kicked a FG on their possession on OT to win but not cover 19-16.
Utah is a cover machine going 7-1 ATS so far this year.

15. Nebraska -23.5 vs Purdue – Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah hurt his knee in this game and the Husker offense stalled. Purdue actually outgained Nebraska 340 yards to 297 but could only convert 2 of 16 first downs.
Nebraska was no better starting their first three drives at the Purdue 17, 16 and 31 yard lines but coming away with only 7 points.
Ugly game. Nebraska won but didn’t cover 35-14
Nebraska’s season now rests on the medical reports for Abdullah.
16. Ohio State -29.0 vs Illinois – OSU pounded the Illini in a tune up game before MSU this week. Illinois mailed this one in letting up 545 yards and coughing it up 4 times.
Time to start fading the Illini as they are giving up.
Ohio State has great stats but hasn’t played anyone with a defense.

18. Oklahoma -16.5 @ Iowa State – Where has that been all year Oklahoma? Trevor Knight became the first Div 1A player to throw for 3 TDs and run for 3 TDs in the same game.
Oklahoma put this game away early scoring 3 TDs in the first quarter. Another drive went to the ISU 5 but a pick ended that scoring chance.
Oklahoma had an amazing 751 yards of offense, fourth most in program history.
The Sooners rolled to a 59-14 win and cover.
ISU might be getting ready to pack it in too. This was 4th loss in their last five games. The only win was over Toledo.
19. LSU – Bye – resting up for Bama this week
21. Clemson – Bye – Next up Wake Forest
23. East Carolina – see the Mega Bet Recap
24. Duke – see the Mega Bet Recap
As for as the Doofus – Finally! Finally a winning week!

East Carolina -7.0 @ Temple – When I made the pick I was worried about taking another road favorite. I’ve struggled with those this year (more on that later). Should have listened to the bad vibe and backed off this pick.
Now I know how Bruce felt when he picked Pitt last week. Pitt fumbled the first five times it had the ball.
East Carolina wasn’t quite as bad, but in rainy conditions it struggled mightky to hold onto the ball.
On their second drive of the game ECU dropped the ball and …..

Scoop Six! 7-0 Temple
ECU fumbled on their next drive too losing it at their 40. Temple pounded out another TD six plays later to go up 14-0. Crap.
Being down 14-0 and giving up seven is usually a pretty steep hole right? Not for the Pirates. They can move the ball and was still in the first quarter.
Except that ECU was not done fumbling the ball. They opened the second quarter with yet another fumble. At least time they recovered this time. ECU finally hung onto the ball on the next drive and got a FG. 14-3 Temple.
And then what else, East Carolina fumbled on their final drive of the half. Out of seven first half drives, ECU fumbled it four times losing it three. Ugly
And the fun wasn’t done. ECU started off the second half with a nice drive only to have a blocked FG. Temple then drove for a TD to go up 20-3. On the ensuing kickoff the Pirates get a nice return to their 35 and … fumble. Dagnabbit. It was their fifth fumble of the game.
Here is a compilation of the miscues

The Pirates went nowhere for the rest of the game until the final drive. Then they get a TD. Way too late and too little. An ugly performance by the Pirates.
ECU dominated the stat line gaining 428 yards to Temple's 135. But five turnovers will kill you every time.
Final score - Temple 20 East Carolina 10 LOSS

Duke +3.0 @ Pitt – Before the game Dr. Bob, a well known sports handicapper, was neutral on the game but was real strong that it was an over. Good call.
This game was tight throughout. In the first half, the teams were trading TDs left and right as the score went to 28 all at the half. Dr Bob already had his over.
The scoring settled down in the second half as the teams traded FGs to make it 31 all at the beginning of the fourth

to the house!
Duke’s DeVon Edwards takes it 99 yards to put the Blue Devils up 38-31. Things were looking good. Up 7 and getting three.
That is until Pitt pounded out another TD to tie it 38 all with five minutes left.
Duke burned off 2 minutes but punted setting up a dramatic finish.
Pitt pounded it again to the Duke 11 with :02 left. Now I was in a pickle. Do I want the FG to be good or not? If Pitt gets the FG I get a push and that might be the best outcome.
I was worried about Duke's D in OT. Pitt RB James Conner was a beast going off for 263 yards rushing. He was blasting through the Blue Devil defense for nearly seven yards a pop. Give him a short field and I didn't know if Duke could stop him.
But I could still get a win of the game goes to OT.
Pitt kicker Chris Blewitt lines up for the a 26 yards FG and
Blewitt Blew it!
We're going to OT!
Duke got the ball first - got to get a TD. A FG could set up a potential four point loss and blow the cover.
It took only three plays to get a TD and Duke was up 45-38. Nice
Pitt then got the ball and three James Conner runs later it was tied. Crap - this was exactly what I was worried about. Conner left, Conner right, Conner up the middle for a score. Duke just could not stop this guy.
In the second OT - Pitt got the ball first. Pitt decided to let Conner sit for a play. Bad move. His back up Chris James was stuffed for no gain. On second and tem QB Chris Voytik gets pressured in the pocket and gets stuffed for no gain. Excellent, now its third and ten and Conner will be a non-factor.
On third and ten Voytik throws an incompletion. 4th and ten - time for another Blewitt FG attempt. Coud he miss it and leave an easy one for Duke?
Nope, he hits the 42 yarder to put Pitt up 48-45.
But now I'm in good shape, If Duke scores a TD, I get the win, If the don't score I get the cover. The only way I lose is if Duke gets a FG and loses in a later OT.
The Blue Devils running game gets going. Three rushes put the ball on the Pitt five, third and two. The Blue Devils bring in their running QB Thomas Sirk and TD!
Excellent game! Final score Duke 52 Pitt 48 WIN

Indianapolis -3.5 @ NY Giants - Perhaps the best part of the game is what happened befor ethe game even started. We've all seen the National Anthem performed. Some real bad and some pretty good. But none were done as good as this version by Chris Botti.
That our flag was still there
Hauntingly beautiful. When Reggie Wayne started crying I welled up too. Great rendition!
And the music must have inspired the Colts as they came out on fire. Andrew Luck torched the Giants secondary for 354 yards and 4 TDs.
New York's receivers, meanwhile, were awful. They were dropping passes left and right. Preston Parker had at least three. Beckham and Randle contributed too.
This game was a blow out. The Colts got to a 40-10 lead early in the fourth quarter and then went into the prevent. That allowed Manning to get some garbage time stats and close the deficit to a final score of 40-24 WIN
And the Giants got more bad news when DB Prince Amukamara went out for the season with a torn bicep. With Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie ailing the secondary is tissue paper thin.
The Doofus had a great week this week. Not only did the Mega Bets go 2-1, THe Mini Megas went 4-2. Add in that the College picks went 32-21-1 and the NFL picks went 10-3 led to a very profitable week. Too bad this Week 10 wasn't the GO JUMBO week.
But one week does not a trend make. Need to follow it up with another good week in Week 11
After a great week 9, the Sheriff stumbled in week 10 going 1-2 with
Purdue (+23.5) over Nebraska. - With Ameer out the Boilers kept it close Final Huskers 35 Purdue 14 WIN
Colorado (+4) over Washington. Converted LB, now RB Shaw Thompson had 215 yards as the Huskies came back to win 38-23. Washington trailed at the half 20-17 and then 23-17 to start the second half. But it wasl all Huskies after that as they scored 21 unanswered points. LOSS
Arizona (+6.5) over UCLA. The Sheriff is kicking himself for changing his mind on this game. The Wildcats got exposed in a 17-7 LOSS
The next update will cover the year to date in college football and the NFL. Lots of interesting stats!
Remember the GO JUMBO trip is next weekend Nov 15th at the Westgate Resort (formerly the LVH)
