Happy Thanksgiving!
Hope you and yours have a great holiday.
Attendance at the Doofus annual turkey fest will be down slightly this year – only a dozen or so will be here to gobble down turkey, ham and all the trimmings. All expertly prepared by Jason.
Feeding time is scheduled for after the Lions game naturally. No one wants to risk having to pass the gravy when the Lions are in the red zone. It’s all about priorities.
There are a ton of great games this weekend so I’ll have further updates but here are the picks for today
Detroit +3.0 vs Minnesota - It was way back on Oct 1 - the Lions had beaten the Vikes 14-7 and it looked like a two team race between Detroit and Green Bay in the NFC Norris. The 3–1 Lions and the 3–1 Packers had two of the best QBs in the league while the Vikings had lost Sam Bradford (and Dalvin Cook too) and were led by someone named Case Keenum.
The Lions promptly lost three straight and the Pack lost Rodgers. Meanwhile the Vikings haven’t lost since.
Keenum has something to do with the win streak. He’s not making mistakes with a 7:3 TD to pick ratio. But it’s the Viking’s defense that is winning the games.
Matthew Stafford is a different animal. The Lions strategy is to hang around and then see if Stafford can pull the game out of his Malone. He led the league with 8 fourth quarter comebacks last year and almost came back from 35 down against the Saints earlier this year.
That’s what I am betting on in this game. Stafford at home pulling out a late miracle to win. I’ll make it a Mini Mega.

Dallas pick ‘em vs LA Chargers – The last time the Chargers played on Turkey Day they were still in the AFL back in 1969. It’s been quite a wait but could be worth it
The Cowboys have been awful lately losing their last two games by a combined score of 64-16. The reason? The OL is dinged up, they are missing stud LB Sean Lee and some running back named Elliot is suspended.
The Chargers have been on a bit of a roll winning four of their last six including a 52-24 beat down of the Bills last week.
This one is a tough pick. The Boys are used to playing on Thanksgiving and the preparation required while the Chargers are playing their fifth road game in seven weeks. And the Cowboys should be fired up after getting humiliated by the Eagles last week.
I’ll take the Cowboys but no quatloos. I hate rooting for Dallas.

Washington -7.0 @ NY Giants – The Giants have given up on HC Ben McAdoo. Of course, I said that last week too and then the rise up and play to their limited potential and beat the Chiefs. It can’t happen again can it?
In desperation mode McAdoo pulled pout all the stops last week including a fake punt, three tackles wide of the center and going for it on fourth down three different times. It worked but you only get on chance at that type of play calling. The Redskins will be ready for that kind of bull Bruce.
I’ll take Kirk Cousins to abuse the Giant’s weak linebacking corp and RB Sam Perine to have a big day.
Seven is a lot of points to give on the road especially after the Redkins are coming off an OT game with four days rest and prep. I’ll put a quatloo on the Redskins.

Ole Miss +14.0 @ Mississippi State – The other MSU’s QB Nick Fitzgerald has emerged as one of the best dual threat QB’s in college football. He extended his own SEC record 14 straight 100 yard rushing for a QB last week with 101 yards against Arkansas.
He needs just 52 yards rushing to pass fellow Bulldog Dak Prescott to move up to third all time in the SEC for a running QB.
Last year Fitzgerald tortured Ole Miss running for 258 yards in a 55-20 blow out.
For the Rebels, this is their Bowl game. They are foregoing any post season game due to some hellacious recruiting violations under previous HC Hugh Freeze. For Mississippi to keep this game close they are going to need sophomore star WR AJ Brown to have a great game. Brown leads the SEC in catches (69) yards (1,085) and TDs (10).
Mississippi State is the far better team but I like taking big points in a rivalry game. I’ll take the Rebs for a quatloo.
