It's my FFDY! Long time GO JUMBO attendees know what that stands for but if you are wondering - check out the Glossary.
I'm down here early saving seats and tables for the gang while trying to recover from a great outing last night. More on that in the recap later this week. Getting ready to go up and make my bets for the day.
So here they are the, put down some actual hard earned (well not that hard earned) cash, put your money where your mouth is, no fooling around this time, official 2014 GO JUMBO Mega Bets.
All the research, spreadsheets and weekly updates were in preparation for these next two days and these picks. Let's hope it's worth it. Actually it is worth it. It's a blast doing this.
OK enough drivel - here they are
FSU -2.5 @ Miami (FL)
All the talking heads have been spouting that this could be the weekend FSU finally gets upset. The Noles have started out slowly in big games this year only to have Jameis take it up several notches and pull out a win.
The talking heads are rarely correct. They just want you to watch the game and pump up the ratings.
Canes QB freshman QB Brad Kayaa has had a solid initial season throwing for 2,087 yards, 29 TDs with 9 picks and a QB rating that is better than Jameis. But he is about to face off against a secondary stocked with next level talent. Those 9 picks could start looking a little alarming. He hasn't thrown one in the last three games, all wins, he's due.
Winston may be a knuckle head off the field but no one is better on it. His stats are off from last year (he already has more picks 11, than he had all last year) but the guy just flat out wins. He's used to being under the spotlight in big games.
Huge game, huge bet. With the spread at less than 3 I get the cover even with a walk off FG.
Michigan State -10.5 @ Maryland
Of course 'm going to take my Spartans on my FFDY. Pure going with my heart here.
Not really. The big concern here is whether MSU will rebound from a devastating loss last week to the Bucknuts. If the coach were Bobby Williams or John L Smith I'd be worried. But its not. We have Mark Dantonio at the helm and he and Narduzzi will have the Spartans pissing fire for this game.
Maryland is without their star WR Stefon Diggs. Diggs was going to be out with a lacerated kidney but decided to suspend him for the game after brushing a ref last week. Sounds like a Michigan type move.
Jeremy Langford is going to rip a suspect Terp rush defense. The Spartan defense will correct the missed assignments that plagued them last week as MSU rolls.
C'mon heart bet.
Also going with a big list of Mini Megas
Mississippi State +10.0 @ Alabama - When is the last time a number 1 team was getting double digits?
Georgia Southern +3.0 @ Navy - two similar teams but eagles are better
LSU -1.0 @ Arkansas - Bielema is 0-13 in the SEC. Improving Tigers make it 0-14
Pat is now in the sports book chastising me for taking all away teams. But to be fair, I did say take awy teams when the spread is 3 or less. And the other MSU is getting 10.
And here are all the picks, spreads, times and much much more
