Once again the Holiday Bowl was a double digit blow out. One problem - the double digit favorite that I picked got blown out.
The Red Raider air attack was outstanding. QB Davis Webb throw for 403 yards and 4 TDs. What was even more amazing was the much maligned TTU defense. They were able to keep the Forks out of the endzone until midway through the second quarter. By then, Texas Tech had build a 27-6 lead. Tough to be down 21 when you are giving 14.5
The teams started trading points with the final score ending up Texas Tech 37 Arizona State 23.
That brings the Bowl Picks Mega Bets to 3-1
For tonight I'll try to get back on the winning track with
UCLA -7.0 vs Virginia Tech -
The Hokie offense has been pathetic all year. Of all the teams playing in a bowl this year, Va Tech finished a pathetic 96th in scoring offense and had the fewest TDds scored by a bowl team this year at 34. The prinmary reason? QB Logan Thomas has been awful. Thomas finished the season throwing for only 16 TD and 13 picks. Add in that leading rusher Try Thomas is out with a fractured tibia and points are going to difficult to come by for Va Tech
On the other hand, UCLA was very productive this year ranking 23rd in scoring offense and scoring an average of 36.5 points per game. QB Brett Hundley not only led the Bruins in passing but in rushing as well.
Va Tech will be relying on their 8th ranked scoring defense to hold down UCLA but maybe without CB Kyle Fuller. I'll take a prolific scoring UCLA offense that has a solid defense over the one note Hokies
