The Bowl Mega bets continued their winning streak going
2-0 Saturday.
Louisville stomped all over Miami (FL) 36-9 to easily cover the 3.5 point spread. Louisville recruits heavily in the Miami Florida area and the Cards were playing in a near home crowd environment. Start QB Teddy Bridgewater (from the Miami area), in what should be his last game as an unpaid athlete was brilliant - throwing for 447 yards and 3 TDs.
Kansas State's WR Tyler Lockett was also outstanding in catching 3 TD passes in a 31-14 rout over scUM. The M defense was awful - ESPN announcer Chris Spielman was fantastic in pointing out the missed assignments by the Michigan DL. It is becoming more and more obvious how poorly coached the skunkbears are. Keep Hoke!
Turns out that as bad as my NFL picking has been against the spread, in a pool that picks the games straight up I was doing pretty well. In fact, I had a chance to tie for first place if Arizona beat San Francisco.

Things didn't start out to well. By the time Mrs. Doofus and I arrived at the sports bar, The Niners were up 17-0.
But the Cards were not going to go away that easily. The hate SF. Slowly, they started working their way back into the game until, finally, with 29 seconds left in the game the kicked a FG to knot it at
20 all.
All right! Now take it into overtime at home and win this thing!
What I don't count on was SF going for the win in regulation. A huge kick return, a couple of bombs by SF QB Kaepernick and all of a sudden the Niners were at the AZ 22 yard line with 2 seconds left. San Fran kicks the walk off field goal and I end up in second place.
Oh well, second place is by far the best I have ever done in that pool. And is more than enough to fund a couple of Mega Bets next November!

As far as the unfunded "just for fun" Mega Bets - I'll go with another one today.
Arizona State -14.0 vs Texas Tech
For seven straight years this Holiday Bowl has been a double digit blow out. And this year more of the same is expected with the Sun Devils favored by 2 TDs and the hook.
ASU won seven straight games to get to the PAC 12 championship game before getting blown out by Stanford (again) 38-14. Solid line play gives ASU trouble. Texas Tech does not have solid line play.
The Red Raiders started out the season going 7-0 but none of those games were against teams that went to a bowl. When the competition got better Texas Tech folded - losing 5 straight to bowl bound teams. Not only that they failed to cover in all five game too.
I'm not a big fan of ASU HC Todd Graham after leaving two teams in the lurch before landing in Tempe. Nor am I a fan of giving the hook but the Red Raider defense is a joke (they let up 48 points per game during the 5 game losing streak) so I'll go with the Forks to cover
Remember - the 2014 GO JUMBO trip is November 15th at the LVH Hotel
