The Doofus received emails saying that he didn't make an picks against the spread. Well, the pool was straight up so there were no spreads.
But, no worries. What is Bowl season without a lot of picks against the spread. Last year I went 7-3-2 against the spread in the bowls.
Hopefully I can keep that trend going. And since the Go Jumbo weekend I've gone 10-5. Once again, the later the season progresses the better I do.
But as a wise man said -"All things must end badly otherwise they wouldn't end" So let's see if the Doofus ends badly
Here is the first of what should be several emails to your in box during the holidays. The first of the Bowl Week Mega Bets
Washington State vs Colorado State over 66.0 - Wazzou has the number 4 passing attack. Colorado State is 118th defending the pass. The Rams are more balanced averaging over 200 yards rushing and passing per game. Both defenses are atrocious, however. Wazzou is 108th overall. CSU is even worse at 111th. Shapes up to be an entertaining high scoring game.
My only worry is the weather. The forecast is for 10-15 MPH winds, wind chills in the low 30's and 30% chance of snow showers. Not ideal conditions for passing the ball.
My other non Mega Bet picks today are:
Fresno State +6.5 vs Southern Cal - playing the motivation angle here. FSU will play more fired up than USC who fired a popular coach.
Buffalo +1.0 vs San Diego State - This game features one of the best players you never heard of - LB Khalil Mack from Buffalo. Widely expected to be a low teens first round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, he leads a defense ranked 38th. Not bad for the MAC.
SDSU is up and down starting the season losing to Eastern Illinois. But they also played tough against Fresno State losing 35-28 and beating Boise State. Then they turn around ending the season getting pummeled by UNLV 45-19.
I'll go with a Buffalo team that beats the teams they should and assume SDSU has a down game.
Tulane -2.5 vs UL Lafayette - ULL has played here the last two years as team "home" team as the game is played in New Orleans. But in their third straight appearance, this time the Ragin Cajuns are playing the real home team. Tulane plays their home games in the Super Dome.
Tulane has been a pleasant surprise this year going from 2-10 last year to 7-5 this year. Both teams are fading down the stretch. the Wave lost 3 of their last 4. ULL has lost their last 2 and is on an 0-5 against the spread streak.
Tulane is 21-5 overall versus ULL. I'll go with that streak. If nothing else, the tailgate cuisine should be outstanding
