Four weeks until the start of College Football!. Can’t
wait!!
Teams across the country are in training camp and so is the Doofus. Which means it’s time to start the weekly countdown.
Our favorite Sports book – the LVH Super Sports Book - released their 2013 college football season win totals (regular season only – no championship games or bowls).
I also added in key games for the teams to reach their win totals and how they fared in their lined preseason games

Of course, I aways take MSU to get the over. This year, however, the line looks about right. State will likely go somewhere between 9-3 and 8-4. The key believe it not will be the defense. As bad as the offense was (and it was bad) the defense also contributed to last years sorry performance by blowing four 4th quarter leads (Iowa, Mich, Nebr and NW) . That doesn't include the time when the couldn't get Ohio State off the field in the last four minutes of that game so as to try to get a tie or win. If the defense can make stops when the game is on the line State should go to 9-3 or better. If the offense can get untracked too (don't hold your breath) then it could be a great season.
I was hoping to take take the under on Michigan but Vegas is no dummy. They set the bar a lot lower than the preseason talking heads would have you believe. 8.5 about right for Michigan too. The winner of MSU Michigan will be the one with 9 wins this year (and don't forget MSU is favored by 3).
Northwestern looks like a good over. They are favored in 7 games needing only 1 more to get the over. Their unlined games include Maine, Western Michigan and Nebraska. Got to figure there is a couple of wins in those games. Enough wins to offset an upset by either MSU (Yes!) or Michigan (No!). They may also score an upset over Ohio State and/or Wisconsin.
Same with UCLA - favored in 6 needing 1 more to get the over. Their unlined game is New Mexico (should be big favorites). I also think they have an upset somewhere between USC and Arizona.
Another over I like is LSU.. They are just waiting in the weeds this year. They are spotted 3 losses and are dogs against Georgia, Ole Miss and Bama. Win one of those games (Mississippi?) and you get can trip up against either Florida or Texas A&M.
Just looking at the lined games Notre Dame should be an easy over but Joe taught me long ago to never bet on the Domers. Sage advice.
For my last over I'll take South Carolina. They need to only win one game amongst Georgia, Florida and Clemson to get the over (Sorry Ellis - they will take down the Heels). Put it down as Florida
For the unders - I'll start with USC. Lane Kiffin is a terrible coach and the Trojans are sure to disappoint. Three losses gets you the under so how about Stanford, UCLA and either Notre Dame or Oregon State. Arizona State is rated a push and could trip 'em up too.
I was thinking about taking Louisville as an under too until I took a look at the schedule. Hostess City - The Cards are not up to the hype but the schedule is too soft. I'll pass. Then again, recent transfer RB Michael Dyer may be just the distraction needed to sabatoge the season.
Same with Texas A&M. I was leaning towards the under since Johnny Football has quickly become a head case. But Vegas sees it too and has set the bar a lot lower. No room left to get the under.
But I will take the under on Florida. Three losses to Georgia, LSU and South Carolina sets up Florida State. Gators win and you get a push. If they lose - you win! If they trip up against Miami (FL) - spread is 2.5 - then it's in the bag.
The season kickoff is just around the corner. Got to start getting the Doofus Deck ready.
Remember GO JUMBO weekend is Oct 26th at the LVH hotel
