The NFL Draft comes to Motown. And I can’t make it. The draft is on my bucket list but I always seem to be on the road when it occurs. Maybe next year. Then again, my chances of being in Green Bay are pretty remote.
No need to get to your local watering hole too early. Go ahead and get a good seat and order your favorite adult beverages but there won’t be much excitement in the first 7 picks. The consensus is
There is a bit of drama around whether Daniels or Maye will go first but the draft will likely start with these seven. There’s not much investment opportunities either. The returns are too low.
No need to get to your local watering hole too early. Go ahead and get a good seat and order your favorite adult beverages but there won’t be much excitement in the first 7 picks. The consensus is
- Chicago – QB Caleb Williams, USC
- Washington – QB Jayden Daniels, LSU
- New England – QB Drake Maye, North Carolina
- Arizona – WR Marvin Harrison, Ohio State
- Minnesota – QB JJ McCarthy, Michigan
- Malik Nabors – WR LSU
- Joe Alt – OT Notre Dame

So after doing my home work, here’s the draft Investments I’ll be making:
From a team's 1st pick by position I’ll go with:
13. Las Vegas – Offensive Line (either Fauga OT Oregon State or Latham OT Alabama) odds +175
18. Cincinnati – Offensive Line (either Mims OT Georgia or Fuaga OT Oregon State) odds -130
19. LA Rams – Defensive Line/Edge (likely Jared Verse Florida State) odds +180
22. Philadelphia – Cornerback (likely Quinyon Mitchell Toledo) odds -145
25. Green Bay – Cornerback – (likely Cooper DeJean Iowa) odds +235
26. Tampa Bay – Cornerback (either Jackson Powers-Johnson Oregon or Kool-Aid McKinstry Alabama) odds +220
28. Buffalo – Wide Receiver (likely Brian Thomas Jr, LSU) odds -280

From a where a player will be drafted I’ll go with:
Rome Odunze WR Washington – over 8.5 odds +120
Bryan Murphy DT Texas - over 13.5 odds +135
Troy Fautuna G/OT Washington – under 15.5 odds +135
Laiatu Latu DL/Edge UCLA – under 16.5 odds -150
Graham Barton OT Duke – over 21.5 odds +215
A couple more fun investments:
Total 1st round draft picks from the Big 10 – over 5.5 odds -140
Laiatu Latu DL/Edge UCLA – Top 10 pick odds +125
Here's hoping the inevitable trades (the over / under is 6.5) don't blow everything up.
I’ll recap all the 1st round draft picks next week.
