Happy Thanksgiving everyone! A time to be with friends and family, give thanks and count your blessings. The Doofus family has plenty to be thankful for and far too many blessings to count.
And, of course, after consuming a caloric intake of food, a logarithmic scale beyond the recommended daily allowance, We will partake in another activity for which I am thankful for – football. Not just any weekend of football but rivalry weekend! Civil Wars, Iron Bowls, Territorial Cups. Apple Cups, and Good ol Fashioned Hates. Nothing better than taking on your most hated rival in the last game of the year. Enjoy it while you can, before conference realignments screw it all up.
Of course, it also means the end of the road for head coaches too. Four have already been canned at both MSUs along with Fisher at A&M and Babers at Syracuse. And remember Hoke-a-mania? Yup, he will be retiring at San Diego State.
Other coaches likely to get the ziggy - Allen at Indiana, Aranda at Baylor and Wilson at Nevada.

And while they are preparing for the next phase of their coaching careers, I'll be investing and watching these games starting on Friday
Iowa +2.5 @ Nebraska - It’s Iowa football, roll out your putrid offense which goes nowhere fast and let defense and special teams win the game. Nebraska plays a similar game, bad offense good defense. It’s the reason why the over/under is set at a record low of 26.0
Illinois us like Iowa but ut’s not Iowa. I’ll go with the original. Vegas is counting on the Illini needing this game to become bowl eligible while Iowa has already locked a spot in the B10 championship game.
I’m not buying it, Huskers kept the Hawkeyes from going to the Big Ten Championship last year with one of 2022’s most stunning upsets. The Hawkeyes will be out for revenge. I’m taking the money line at +110. The Hawkeyes will get their revenge.

Missouri -8.5 @ Arkansas – A top 10 team with its only losses to ranked teams against the bottom dweller in the SEC West, I must have to give a ton of points right. Nope, just 8.5. Yeah, the Razorbacks have a win over Florida but its other three wins were over 1AA Western Carolina, and terrible FBS teams Kent State and FIU.
Auburn blew out Arkansas 48-10 two weeks ago. Mizzou can match that. Vegas again is going with the Mizzou won’t be motivated as they are stuck in 2nd in the SEC East no matter what but I’m not buying it. Pittman is on Ziggy watch. He will get it after the loss to the Tigers.
Oregon State +13.5 @ Oregon - Oregon state HC Jonathan Smith is either target 1A or 1b for the Spartans which is great news. Washington QB Michael Penix went off against Harlan Barnett’s secondary for nearly 500 yards in a rout in week 3. Against the Beavers Penix by far played his worst game of the season, going 13-of-28 for only 162 yards. If they can handle Michael Penix and his quick hitting passing game then limiting Bo Nix should be a breeze. Over 65% of Nix's pass attempts this season have been under 10 yards in the air.
Oregon State is going to pound the rock against Washington’s suspect rush defense and easily cover the near 2 TD spread. You might want to put a little bit of your sports investing kitty in the money line at +410.
A punishing run game a great pass defense. Sound like any Spartan teams of the recent past. Get this done Haller.
Then after some late night beverages and board games, I'll throw off a hangover get in front of the TV on Saturday to watch

Northwestern +5.5 Illinois – From finishing last year on an 11 game losing streak to bowl eligible no team in college football has had a better turnaround than Northwestern. The Cats are Iowa lite this year in limiting explosive plays, just hanging around, the forcing a turnover (Northwestern is +8 in turnover margin) for the win.
Northwestern finds a way to win. Illinois finds a way to lose with last minute losses to Wiscy and Iowa. Vegas in counting on Illinois needing to win to become bowl eligible. I’m counting on the revenge angle. Illinois thrashed the Cats last year 41-3. Northwestern is the team that wants this one more.
Florida State -6.5 @ Florida – Both teams are down their starting QBs. FSU’s Jordan Travis is way better than Florida’s Graham Mertz which should affect the Noles more. But Florida will be rolling out a freshman replacement while FSU will have an experienced Junior under center.
Add in that FSU runs the ball 50% of the time behind star RB Trey Benson and the loss of Travis will hurt but not be decisive.
FSU’s defense is far better too. That will be the difference as Florida loses its 5th straight game and Billy Napier’s hot seat gets real toasty.

New Mexico State +2.5 vs Jacksonville State – A sneaky good game. This would have been for the CUSA championship, but the NCAA has a caveman rule preventing newcomer JSU from playing in the championship. The Cocks will treat it as such and will be highly motivated.
It’s strength in strength with NMSU’s superb running game against JSU’s excellent rush defense. Both teams are college footballs version of an ATM, The Gamecocks are 8-2-1 ATS while the Aggies are 9-2-1 ATS.
Both teams are coming off huge wins. JSU beat La Tech 56-17 while NMSU. as a 25.5 dog destroyed Auburn 31-20.
In an pretty evenly matched game, I’ll take the home dog but I’ll go lightly.

Arizona -11.0 @ Arizona State – Arizona Head Coach is in the conversation for Coach of the Year. Predicted to finish 8th in the Pac 12, the Wildcats are 8-3 ranked 16th. Arizona is seeking its 5th straight win with four victories over ranked opponents.
ASU is bad at both running (69th) and passing the ball (118th). They are counting on QB Jaden Rashada to return from injury, He’s a freshman but leads the team in TD passes with 3.
The Forks defense is allowing 27 PPG at home. Wildcat QB Noah Fififta is in for a big day. He’s hitting 74% of his passes and does not turn it over.
A few years ago, ASU humbled Arizona 70-7 in Tucson. Some ASU fans celebrated by purchasing space on a billboard along Interstate 10 between the schools, with the score of the game bookending the message: "No pity for the kitty." Fisch was asked about how he explains the heated rivalry to new players. "I showed them a billboard," he said.
Arizona will return the favor this year.
Wyoming -10.5 @ Nevada – Betting against bad teams playing out the string is usually a winning strategy. Nevada is a bad team. They are 1-9 straight up at home (2-8 ATS). Wymoing has more than enough firepower to put this one away early.
