Troy -6.5 vs Duke - Troy is one of the best Group of Five programs in the country. The Trojans just racked up back-to-back 11-win seasons and conference championships.
The defense was the main reason why Troy captured another conference title. The Trojans held their opponents to 17.2 points per game, which ranks 10th in the country, and performed particularly well against the pass, coming in at 14th in Pass success rate allowed.
The offense is no slouch either. There's plenty to like about Troy's offense, as well.
Quarterback Gunnar Watson had a great year by throwing for 3,339 yards, 27 touchdowns and five picks. But the real star was was All American RB Kimani Vidal. He was thee Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, rushing for 1,582 yards and 14 touchdowns this season.
Duke was the darlings of college football to start the season, beating Clemson in week 1 rising up to No. 17 in the AP Top 25 with a 5-1 start. But things spiraled down from there after QB Riley Leonard got injured against Notre Dame in Week 5.
Duke won only three more games after his injury, and now most of that team won't even be present in the Birmingham Bowl. Leonard is off to South Bend, HC Mike Elko is returning to Texas A&M, and a long list of starting players have either entered the transfer portal or are opting out of the game. The Blue Devils are a shell of the team that started the season.
I’ll take the complete team in Troy, wanting to prove themselves against a Power 5 teams. Put me in for a Mini Mega

Utah State -2.0 vs Georgia State – Georgia State is reeling. After starting the season 4-0 the stumbled down the stretch. Including a loss to LSU in its penultimate contest, Georgia State dropped its final five games by an average of 23.2 points per game.
As if things weren’t going bad enough, the Panthers will be with out The Panthers will be without their best player, RB Marcus Carroll and leading wide receiver Robert Lewis, with the pair transferring to SEC programs.
While GSU was stumbling, Utah State was taking off, winning three of their last four games to become bowl eligible. The Aggies offense can put points on the board. Overall it was No. 1 in the Mountain west in total offense, No. 2 in scoring. The transfer portal left USU relatively unscathed.
I’ll go with the trend and the more complete roster in Utah State for a quatloo.
