Bama vs Texas A&M was supposed to be a blow out. Turned out to be one of the best games of the year. A great game even if the outcome may not have been to your liking.
A fantastic grab by A&M’s Evan Stewart. A pick overturned in the end zone. And a wild finish

Bama, playing without Bryce Young, held on to the very last second, and beat A&M 24-20. Still, that last play. Despicable is how Jimbo described it. I might have gone a little further
And losing your starting quarterback is huge. Bama may have won two close games without Young but they won’t run the table. His replacement Jalen Milroe fumbled twice and threw an interception.
And it’s not just Bama. Without Will Levis, Kentucky lost 24-14 to South Carolina. Without Jalon Daniels, Kansas lost 38-31 to TCU. Without KJ Jefferson Akansas lost it's thrid straight game to Mississippi State 40-17.
And without Dillon Gabriel, Oklahoma lost 49-0 to Texas.
The transfer portal has leveled the field for quarterbacks. No longer are teams able to stockpile 5 star talent and roll a backup every bit as good as the starter.

The problems at Oklahoma run far deeper losing their starting QB. Just a little over two weeks ago, Oklahoma was ranked No 6. You could overlook the loss to Kansas State, tough but not that unusual.
The wheels started coming off with bone crushing 55-24 loss at TCU.
Then there was Saturday’s 49-0 Red River Shootout loss to Texas. That was bad, I mean historically bad.
It was the Sooners’ largest ever loss to the Longhorns (the previous worst defeat was by 33 points), their worst shutout loss ever, their first shutout loss against Texas since 1965 and their first shutout loss period since 1998.
At the beginning of the season, Oklahoma and Iowa State were favorites to win the Big 12. They are now 0-6 in league play.
They saying goes - never throw late across the middle unless

Unless it works. The Heels held of the Canes 27-24. North Carolina has now beaten Miami four straight times -- its longest win streak in the series.
Maybe there is something to going with the interim head coach mid season. There are five so far this year. Mike Sanford’s Colorado team didn’t play, but the other guys went 4-0. On the season interim head coaches are 9-5.
On the other end of the spectrum, the five coaches who have been with their schools the longest are Kirk Ferentz, Iowa (1999), Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State (2005), Kyle Whittingham, Utah, (2005), Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern (2006), and Rick Stockstill, Middle Tenn State (2005).
Gundy was the only one of the five get a win this weekend.
The Sheriff was up to watch it, but you were not. Too bad, just around 2:30 a.m. ET, you missed this fantastic game winning play.

Football after dark is fun. Consider putting an extra pot of coffee on (or opening another bottle of Red Breast) in Week 7.
Georgia played like Georgia again, crushing Auburn 42-10. But like everyone, there are flaws in their game. The Dawgs has now gone three straight games and 117 consecutive throws -- without a touchdown pass.
The SEC now accounts for more than a quarter of the remaining undefeated teams (Tide, Bulldogs, Rebels and Vols).
Tennessee's 40-13 win at LSU was the Vols’ largest road win against an AP-ranked opponent since they beat Alabama 41-14 in 1995.

The path to the Pac 12 title goes through LA. UCLA and USC a combined 12-0 through Week 6.
The Condoms may have issues on defense but they pitched a shutout in the second half of Saturday night's 30-14 win over Washington State.
For the second week in a row, the longest active Power 5 AP poll drought has been snapped. After Kansas broke into the rankings for the first time since 2009 last week, Illinois is ranked for the first time since Oct. 16, 2011.
The Illini have the nation’s leading rusher in Chase Brown (879 yards) and the No. 1 defense in yards per play (3.72 yards per play) and points allowed (8.0 PPG).

The longest Power 5 non ranked streak now belongs to Rutgers (Nov 18 2012). I doubt they will crack the Top 25 this year but the next longest streak belongs to Oregon State (Aug 17, 2013).
At 4-2 the Beavers have a chance to get in, if they can get by Washington State and Colorado over the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, James Madison has only been in Div 1A for five weeks and they are already ranked (25th) The Dukes are sixth in the nation in scoring and 14th in points allowed.
Syracuse, Kansas and Illinois haven't been ranked in the same poll since Oct 3, 1960, when the Orange were No. 1, the Illinois were No. 4 and the Jayhawks were No. 10. Two weeks later the Cuban Missile Crisis started. Hopefully that is not a harbinger.
Finally, there are great plays of the week and then there was this.

The punter, Alex Mastromanno, had a clear path to a first down but decided to punt. When he did, he was over the line of scrimmage, resulting in NC State getting the ball and kicking a FG to close the game to 17-16. NC State ended up winning 19-17.
Remember, the 2022 GO JUMBO trip is Oct 29th at the Westgate SuperBooK.
