Can we have even more nuttiness this week? Weeks 1 and 2 have been chock full of upsets, crazy finishes and even a high profile coaching fire. There’s been enough zaniness for a full season and we haven’t even kicked off week 3.
Not sure we are teed up for another week of wild action – the slate is a little leaner with only two games featuring two ranked teams:
BYU +3.5 @ Oregon – BYU is coming off a fantastic double OT win over Baylor at home last week. Oregon had a chance to make a statement in week 1 against Georgia and left fecal matter all over the mattress.
BYU and Oregon are built the same way, win in the trenches and grind out wins. The difference is – do you really trust Oregon QB Bo Nix in big games? Not me, I’ll take the Cougars to win straight up with the money line at +150 for a quatloo.
I’ll put another quatloo on the under of 58.0

Miami (FL) +6.5 @ Texas A&M – A&M was on the other side of one of those patented App State upsets. When they did it to scUM, it ultimately cost Lloyd Carr his job and brought us the fun run of coaches like Dick Rod, Hokemania and Booger man. I doubt the same will happen to Jimbo but fans are still scratching their heads over last week.
This is a tough one to figure out. The Aggies have shown no semblance of an offense causing change in starting quarterback. And where will their heads be after last weeks debacle?
The Canes look like offensive juggernauts, but it was over a couple of cupcakes. Mario Critobal is a great coach but did he really turn around Miami that fast?
I’ll take the higher ranked team (Miami) getting the points but no quatloos.
Some other great games on tap include:
Penn State -2.5 @ Auburn – Two unbeaten teams face off in Jordan Hare. Last year, Penn State beat Auburn in State College 28-20. Can the Tigers get their revenge?
I doubt it. Penn State has already won a tough game on the road this year, taking down Purdue 35-31 in week 1. Auburn hasn’t been tested, beating Mercer week 1 and then, looked shaky at home holding off San Jose State 24-16 last week.
Penn State has the superior offense led by Sr Sean Clifford. Auburn will stop the run but Clifford and the PSU air game will pull this game out.
I’ll put a quatloo on Penn State and lay the points for a quatloo.

Oklahoma -11.0 @ Nebraska – The Huskers are finally frost free. Will that jump start the program? Will a new head coach and playing an old classic rival cause Nebraska to play the games of their lives? It could which is why I’m staying away from betting this one.
It’s a rivalry game for Oklahoma too. And the would like nothing better than to kick their old nemesis while it’s down. The Sooners have better players and are better coached so I’ll take Oklahoma. No quatloos though. I will take OK as part of my big favorite ML parlay, however.
Texas Tech +10 @ NC State – Every year it seems, NC State is touted as a dark horse to win the ACC and make the CFP. And every year, they get run hard and put away wet at the end of the season having won some huge upset and losing in some stupid clunky fashion. It’s why I have put the WolfPack on my permanent, not so double secret, do not bet list.
I’ll take the Red Raiders because this is the exact type of game NC State blows every year. No quatloos though.
Some games I will wager on
Kansas State -14.0 vs Tulane – Tulane is amazing! They have outscored their opponents 94-10 so far this year. Watch out for the Wave.
Yeah, you might want to pump the brakes on that story line. Tulane has faced an even easier schedule than scUM, beating UMass and Alcorn State.
Kansas State is the real deal. They just took down Missouri last week, 40-12. The run game is dominating behind Nebraska escapee QB Adrian Martinez and RB Deuce Vaughn.
I’ll put a quatloo on the Wildcats to cover.

Purdue money line versus Syracuse – It’s the first road test for the Boilers. For a team known for offense, it’s the defense leading the way. Purdue is letting up just 17.5 PPG including a close loss to Penn State.
Syracuse has faced a difficult opponent too in a surprising win over Louisville to start the season. QB Garrett Shrader and RB Sean Tucker have led the way as the Orange have scored nearly 40 PPG.
Still, I like Purdue's defense and the near win over Penn State better than anything Syracuse has done so far. I’ll go with the Boilers for a quatloo.
Ole Miss -17.0 @ Georgia Tech – Tech’s defense looked good for awhile against Clemson before falling apart in a 41-10 loss. The struggles continued when Western Carolina shredded the Jacket defense for 393 yards last week outgaining GT.

The offense has yet to start going. It hasn’t ever since Paul Johnson took his triple option back home with him.
Lane Kiffin’s offense is rolling even wit a bit of a QB controversy. USC transferee QB Jaxson Dart started game 1 and Luke Altmyer started game 2. Dart will likely start game 3 though it won’t really matter as the offense will be way too much for Tech.
I’ll take the Rebels and lay the points. Sorry Sax Man.
I'm also going with a Point Whore Parlay on
Kansas +8.0 @ Houston
Toledo +31.0 @ Ohio State
La Tech +33.5 @ Clemson
And I'll put a quatloo on a Big Favorite Money Line Parlay with
Ole Miss @ Georgia Tech
Kansas State vs Tulane
Oklahoma @ Nebraska
Washington State vs Colorado State
Arizona State vs Eastern Michigan
In the NFL I'll take the Saints and the ML to win their 5th straight over a depleted Tampa Bay.
And the Arizona @ Las Vegas under 51.5
And for all the games, lines, picks and much much more here is the 2022 Week 3 Bettors Guide
