Well that was fun. Can week 2 even get close to Week one in exciting games.
Probably not but we will see.
Plenty of good game though starting with
Alabama -20.5 at Texas – Alabama 55 Utah State 0; Texas 52 UL Monroe 10 – Big wins to start the season. The difference is that Utah State is the defending MWC champion and UL Monroe has sucked for year.
Another difference? Alabama has a ton more talent than Texas. . The Heisman Trophy campaigns for Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and DL Will Anderson Jt. have already started. It’s one week in and it already looks like we are in for a UGA Bama rematch for the championship this year.
Saban owns his assistants, with last years A&M upset of the Tide the only win by an assistant. Sarkisian will get things rolling in Texas but not in this game. Do you really think Horn’s QB Quinn Ewers, starting just his second game, is going to give the Bama defense fits? Me neither.
I’m putting a Mega Bet on Alabama to roll over Bevo.

Tennessee -6.5 at Pittsburgh – Normally, you would expect this to be a let down game after Pitt’s thrilling win over WVU last week. But not with the Vols coming to town.
Kedon Slovis continued where Kenny Pickett left off with 308 yards passing and 1 TD last week The Panthers will need to protect him far better than they did in the opener, however, where they allowed five sacks.
Tennessee has one of the best offenses in the SEC led by QB Hendon Hooker. With his running ability and a deep Vol backfield, Tennessee is going to give the Pitt defense fits. The Panther pass rush is fine but the run defense showed holes last week.
It’s a revenge game for the orange. They lost last year to Pitt 41-34. I’ll put a quatloo on Tennessee to cover.

Kentucky +5.0 at Florida - Another team, Florida, coming off a thrilling win facing a ranked opponent. Week 2 is shaping up to be fun.
It’s a playoff game to see who can be the 2nd best team in the SEC East behind Georgia. After back to back 10 win seasons, Mark Stoops continues to chip away at the perception that Kentucky is just a basketball school. He’s doing it in the old Big 10 way, stifling defense and grind away the clock with the run game. Too bad UK RB Chris Rodriquez is out.
Kentucky’s run defense may be good, but the Gators, led by QB Anthony Richardson just gashed an elite Utah defense for 283 yards, at 7 yards per attempt.
Still, I’m going to take the points in what should be another close game. No quatloos though.

Southern Cal -8.5 at Stanford – The Lincoln Riley show featuring Caleb Williams heads to the Farm. Both teams demolished inferior opponents last week, USC beat Rice 66-14 while Stanford beat Colgate 41-10.
Stanford used to win in the trenches but that was a few years ago. But they might be just good enough to to test a shaky Trojan OL.
Until Stanford can prove that can move up the ladder in the Pac 12, play sound football like they used to, I’m going to take the more talented offense with not only Williams but returning Biletnikoff winner Jordan Addison and Oklahoma speedster transfer Mario Williams to overwhelm the Cardinal.
ut me down for a Mega Bet. Mrs. H will be sure to let me know if I'm wrong.

Baylor money line +140 at BYU – A sneaky good game between two teams with a chance (small though it be) of making the CFP. Both need signature wins to impress the committee, and both teams are good enough to finish in the top 20 in the final rankings.
Baylor is replacing their top three rushers from 2021 as well as its top two receivers. On the other side, the Cougars kept most of their high-powered 2021 offense (33.1 points per game, tied-28th in the nation) intact. That is until BYU lost it’s two best receivers last week during a curb stomping of USF.
It’s a late night game in Provo, a brutal road environment when BYU is a Top-25 caliber team. BYU will feed off the atmosphere, the early momentum, and the play of its veterans to make this a fantastic, tough game.
But I’ll take the Bears in an upset with a Mini Mega on the money line of +140. The Bears have a defense that travels and the running game by committee will sneak out a win after you are comfy asleep in your bed.

Appalachian State +18.5 at Texas A&M – This could be another fun game. App State playing the Big Boys always is. The Mountaineers put up 40 points in the fourth quarter against North Carolina...and still lost. ASU QB Chase Brice is legit. It'll be interesting to see how Aggies quarterback Haynes King performs if this becomes a shootout.
I’ll take the points but no quatloos. ASU was down 20 to start the 4th quarter and A&M has a much better defense than UNC.
Some games I will wage a quatloo on
West Virginia -13.5 vs Kansas - Kansas is playing better under HC Lance Leopold but the Neers are going to come out fired up in the home opener after losing late to Pitt last week.

Oklahoma State -11.0 vs Arizona State – Don’t let the score fool you, OSU was crushing a good MAC team before taking the foot off the gas in a 58-44 win over Central Michigan. They won’t let up this time.
Arizona State looks to be better this year but a win over Northern Arizona is not quite the same as facing the Cowboys at home.
And the Pros join the action this week too. I’ll put a couple fo quatloos on:
Jacksonville money line +115 @ Washington – The Jags are going to surprise this year. The have talent and no have a competent head coach.
The Redskins have Carson Wentz at QB. He’s good for a couple of bone head plays per game. Just enough for Jacksonville to eek out a win. Put me down for a Mini Mega on the Money Line.

Tampa Bay under 51 @ Dallas – The Buccaneers had two interior offensive linemen depart during the offseason and lost a third to injury. Meanwhile, Chris Godwin is coming off a torn ACL; Antonio Brown has been exiled from the NFL; and Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement.
The Cowboys also had two offensive linemen depart this offseason, and lost a third to injury. And like Tampa, Dallas saw two receiving threats depart, while a third is going to have problems coming off a torn ACL. Eerily similar.
Add in Tom Brady’s weird offseason and Zqks’s lingering ankle issue, I’ll take under in a relatively high over/under line of 51.0
And for all the games times spreads and much much more here is the 2022 Week 2 Bettors Guide
