I went 2-2 last night. Utah’s TE went off, I just picked the wrong one. Backup TE had Thomas Yassmin had 81 yards while my guy, Kincaid, had 40.
Today, I’ll get back on the winning track with:
Big 12 Championship TCU -1.0 vs Kansas State – Will the Hypnotoad have one more win in him? So far he has TCU on the cusp of the CFP.
He was magical in the first game between these two. First, he took out starting KSU QB Adrian Martinez with an injury. Will Howard took over for Martinez and shredded the Horned Frogs, leading KSU to a 28-10 lead. So the Hypnotoad took out Howard too and TCU seized control, winning 38-28.
Howard returns this game and with star RB Deuce Vaughn the Wildcats will attempt to pound away with a physical run game. KSU is heavily reliant on the run game as the are 17th overall running while a meager 117th passing.
Al large part of the Hypnotoad magic conjures up from DC Joe Gillespie. His ability to make in game adjustments is a large part of the Frogs ability to come back in games. He hadn’t seen Howard prior to the first game and caught him guard, but he eventually figured him out. This time he wont be surprised and will be ready.
Meanwhile QB Max Duggan won’t win the Heisman but he will be in the front row. He has 29 TDs versus just three picks on the season. He actually has more TD runs (five) than picks. And the Frog attack has progressively gotten better on the ground as the season has progressed. RB Kendre Miller pounded the Wildcats for 153 yards and 2 TDs in game one.
Each week, the talking heads proclaim this is the week that TCU goes down. And each week they are wrong. I’ll stick with the magical Toads to win and cover for a quatloo.

MAC Championship Ohio +3.5 vs Toledo – Ohio was cruising to the MAC title until star QB Kurtis Rourke went down to injury. The Maple Missile had taken the Bobcats from 3-9 last year to 9-3 this year and had the 2nd highest QBR in the Group of 5.
His backup, CJ Harris adds a run element to the Ohio offense, useful against a Rocket defense susceptible to explosive rushing plays.
Toledo is having QB issues too. Starter DeQuan Finn was having a solid season (15 TDs vs 5 picks) when he suffered upper body injuries. It got so bad he was pulled from the Western Michigan game for backup Tucker Gleason. Gleason is nursing an injury to his throwing hand. With Gleason under center, Toledo has lost two straight.
With all the injuries, the over/under line dropped from 61.5 to 54.5. With the Rocket rush defense getting challenged and an atrocious Ohio pass defense, I’ll take the over 54.5. I’ll parlay that with Ohio getting the points for a quatloo. .
