The Thanksgiving food is finally digested and the adult beverages have been fully absorbed. Of course, that meant plenty of power naps too to fully recharge the body ater putting it through such an overload.
So now it’s time for Championship Week! I had a great weekend for Rivalry week going 5-2. Got a lucky bounce when I got in on Auburn getting the hook at 22.5, final score Bama 49 Auburn 27!
Vegas got me back though when I got Wanstadted. Marshall was giving 6.5, was up by five 28-23, kneeling it down at the GSU 13 to win the game. The Herd has no respect for their backers.
But I’ll take 5-2 any football week of the year. Here’s how I’ll be investing in tonight’s games:

CUSA Championship North Texas +8.5 @ UT San Antonio – The Mean Green were so close in the first meeting, losing 31-27 on a Roadrunner TD with 15 seconds left. They did cover as 10.0 underdogs. You would think rematches favor the loser in the rematch but it doesn’t play out that way. Losers in a rematch are 23-23 ATS so no advantage there.
Both teams are designed to exploit the other teams defensive weakness. North Texas QB Austin Aune spreads the ball around to several playmakers behind the best pass blocking OL in the league. UTSA has an awful pass rush and worse pass defense. Even Army was able to throw for over 300 yards on the Roadrunners.
UTSA has one of if not the most explosive offense in the group of Five. QB Frank Harris is right up there with the best of them as a dual threat QB. His passing has improved as the year went on with 27 TDs against just 7 picks.
But UTSA’s run game took a hit, losing leading rusher Brenden Brady and second leading rusher Trelon Smith isn’t quite 100% healthy yet. North Texas can defend the run which will make UTSA somewhat one dimensional.
This should be a wild high scoring game. I’ll take North Texas to get a late back door cover but no quatloos. I will put a quatloo on the over 70.0 just for fun. The first game went under but they did put up a combined 49 points in the second half.

PAC 12 Championship USC -2.5 vs Utah – It’s a rematch of perhaps the best game of the year. Utah rallied with a TD and got the 2 in a thrilling 43-42 win over USC. In that game, USC’s QB Caleb Williams, the current Heisman frontrunner, threw for 381 yards and five touchdowns, only to be matched by Utah’s QB Cam Rising, who threw for two scores and rushed for three more.
But that was on the road in one of the toughest home environments in college football. USC was got up fast, was up late before losing.
Now they play on a neutral field in San Jose. Nothing else has really changed since the first meeting. USC is fantastic on offense and struggle on defense. Utah is superb on defense and OK on offense.
And, yes, where the game is played makes a difference for Utah. The Utes are 1-3 against teams with a winning record, not played at Rice-Eccles. Last year they were 1-4 in the same situation.

Both teams will be motivated. Utah as the underdog wanting to prove the week 7 game was no fluke. For USC, it’s about revenge and more importantly, a play in game for the CFP.
I’ll put a quatloo on the Trojans to cover and another on the over 67.0. Overs are fun.
I’m also going with a player prop bet. USC’s pass defense is just plain awful. Even worse against good TE’s. Utah’s TE Dalton Kincaid is the best TE in the Pac 12. He went for an insane 234 yards in the first matchup. Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer is pretty good too. Even in the Domers loss (on of my few last week) Mayer had 98 yards.
I'll put a quatloo on Kincaid getting over 77.5 receiving yards against the Condoms.
Remember - the 2023 GO JUMBO trip is Nov 11th at the Westgate Superbook
