New Mexico Bowl - SMU -3.5 vs BYU - Expect to see plenty of this replay in the run up to the game. It was the 1980 Holiday Bowl with Jim McMahon playing against the SMU Pony Express with Eric James and Eric Dickerson. SMU led 45-25 with four minutes remaining. BYU rallied to get the game to 45-39 and the game ended like this.

BYU won on a Hail Mary in one of the greatest comebacks in Bowl history.
With two of the worst defenses playing in a bowl, this game could prove to be just as high-scoring as the legendary Holiday Bowl.
SMU boasts the nation's third-ranked passing offense, while BYU features a balanced offense just outside the top 50 in both passing and rushing.
Led by quarterback Tanner Mordecai, SMU averaged 38.4 points per game, the 13th-best mark in the country. Mordecai is one of 10 quarterbacks averaging at least 300 yards passing per game and will face a BYU defense that ranks 114th in pass defense. However, he’ll be without star WR Rashee Rice, the nation’s leader in yards receiving per game (112.9), Rice elected to opt out and prepare for the NFL Draft.
Getting production from RB Tyler Lavine in the backfield will ease some defensive pressure on Mordecai. Lavine emerged over the last half of the regular season, averaging 95.2 rushing yards per game over SMU's final five regular-season contests. He had his best outings in early November when he posted back-to-back 100-yard games against Houston and USF.

BYU's defense could be in for a challenge against SMU's elite passing attack, especially without two key contributors. Kennan Pili, the team's second-leading tackle, has entered the transfer portal, and fellow linebackers Max Tooley and Payton Wilger are sidelined with injuries. The Cougars surrendered 30.0 points and 410.0 total yards this season, including 174.3 rush yards and 235.8 pass yards per game. Their third-down defense is ranked 121st, and their red zone defense is ranked 93rd.
BYU’s offense took a hit as starting QB Jaren Hall is unlikely to play after suffering an ankle injury in the season finale against Stanford. With backup quarterback Jacob Conover off to Arizona State via the transfer portal, BYU will be forced to turn to its third-string quarterback Cade Fennegan, a Boise State transfer who hasn’t thrown a pass since 2020.
In order to avoid a track meet with SMU and time for Fennegan to get comfortable, the Cougars will likely turn to the ground game. The have some punch here as RB Christopher Brooks ranks 11th in the country in yards per carry (6.57).
SMU has the best player on the field, Mordecai, against a reeling BYU defense. I'll take SMU to cover for a quatloo.
The over 64.0 might be worth a look. It as dropped an huge 10.0 points with Hall and Rice not playing. these defenses can let up those kind of points. Overs are fun. What the heck, ut me down for another quatloo.

Frisco Bowl – Boise State -10.5 vs North Texas - The 2022 Frisco Bowl is the runner up bowl. The game pits a pair of teams that fell in their conference championship games
The Mean Green were pummeled by UTSA 48-27 as 8.5-point underdogs. The Broncos are coming off a 28-16 loss to Fresno State as three-point favorites.
Despite reaching the Conference USA Championship for the first time since 2017, North Texas head coach Seth Littrell was fired after the game. He led the Mean Green to the postseason in six of his seven seasons in Denton but failed to win a bowl.
BYU’s Loss to Fresno State epitomized the up-and-down nature of the 2022 season. Mountain West Coach of the Year Andy Avalos made the tough call to fire offensive coordinator Tim Plough after game four. The move helped get the offense going under the guidance of Dirk Koetter and freshman QB Taylen Green.

The Broncos have won seven of their last nine games and four of their last five games away from home. They are very good offensively and they rely heavily on their ground game, which is 38th in the country.
North Texas has one of the worst defenses in the country, allowing over 325 yards of offense in every game but one, and rank near the bottom when it comes to defending the run and pass, so expect them to have a hard time slowing down the Broncos in this game.
North Texas is also very good offensively and have a good balance with the 36th-best passing game and the 24th-best running game in the country. Unfortunately for them, the Broncos have been great defensively with the third-best pass defense and the 31st-best run defense, and they’re holding opponents under 20 points per game, so expect them to keep North Texas’ offense in check.
It's a big spread and both teams will empty the playbook with nothing else to lose.
’ll pass on the game but I put Boise on my money line parlay.
