Before we get into this week's games, the Conference Carousel took another turn this week . It started with the SEC poaching Oklahoma and Texas from the Big 12. The ACC, Big Ten and Pac 12 then signed a, we kinda mean it but nothing specific in writing, non-aggression pact. So the Big 12 poached the American Conference, stealing Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston. The also took the former independent BYU.
The American then poached six teams from the CUSA. UAB, Charlotte, FAU, North Texas, Rice, and #25 UTSA.
There seems to be a trend here – The Big 12 loses 2 so adds 4. The American loses 3 so adds 6.
Now the CUSA is in a pickle. Can they add teams from the Sun Belt (the MAC has been very stable over the decades) or does the Sun Belt deliver a kill shot to the CUSA and take back a few teams like FIU, Western Kentucky, Southern Miss, Marshall and Middle Tennessee State?
If the Sun belt loses teams to the CUSA they will then likely do what they have down in the past and promote good FCS teams to Div 1A. Likely teams would be Kennesaw State, James Madison and Sam Houston State.

We’re half way through a fun and wacky college football season. So the schedulers decided to give the top teams a break. There are no ranked up matchups with 19 ranked teams playing unranked teams and 6 rankled teams (including State) taking the week off entirely.
With a rather weak slate, Game Day will be in Westwood for the UCLA Oregon contest.
Oregon +1.0 vs UCLA - The angle for why game day is in LA - Chip Kelley’s old squad squaring off his new one. It's also a potential preview of the Pac 12 Championship game.
Chip's old Duck team has been struggling as of late QB Anthony Brown was booed heavily in the first half but stepped up and led Oregon to two TD drives in the 4th quarter to beat Cal.
It’s Chip Kelly, UCLA’s run game is superb. But Oregon has the rush defense to contain it. Meanwhile UCLA is susceptible to explosive plays.
I’ll take the points as Oregon remains the last man standing for the Pac 12 in the CFP. I’ll lay a quatloo for fun.

There are some other pretty good games on tap, starting with:
Air Force -3.0 vs #22 San Diego State – It’s the #1 rushing offense (Air Force) against the #1 rush defense (SDSU). The winner gains a stranglehold on the MWC West title.
San Diego State is perfect on the season while Air Force has lost four straight to ranked teams going back to 2016.
The Fly Boys gained some confidence last week with a win over Boise on the smurf turf. The Aztecs may be perfect but haven’t beaten anyone of note (Ok Utah was nice)
I’ll take Air Force at home and lay the points. No quatloos though. The spread is just about right.

Utah -3.0 @ Oregon State - Utah is kicking in in at just the right time. There were losses to San Diego State and BYU (not bad) but once they entered Pac 12 play, yes sir! They were able to beat the two top Pac 12 south contenders USC and Arizona State.
Oregon State is a is off to a nice start his year at 4-2. But they are off a devastating loss to Washington State before last week’s bye. QB Chance Nolan has struggled in conference play going 18/40 passing with no touchdowns and three interceptions over the last two games.
I'll take Utah as they continue to play well while Oregon State is regressing in conference play. Put me down for a Mini Mega.
Fresno State -3.0 vs Nevada – It’s a matchup of two prolific offensive attacks. These two are in the top-10 in the nation in passing offense. Expect to see the ball chucked all over the field early and often as the starting quarterbacks have combined to throw 36 touchdown passes to this point of the season.
Fresno State battled Oregon tough and beat UCLA. Nevada however were whipped by Kansas State. gFresno State has the better defense and is playing at home. I’ll take the Bulldogs for a quatloo.
Over bettors may want to take a look at the 65.0 total

NC State -3.5 @ Miami (FL) – I said I wouldn’t do it. I said I would never bet on an NC State game. But she’s looking so fine. Lost some weight, got a new low cut dress and that new hair cut is so nice.
I know I’ll get burned. I always do with the temptress but I’m laying a Mega Bet on the Pack.
The other investments this week are:
Money Line Parlay (just win baby!)
Notre Dame over Southern Cal – If I’m in for NC State might as well violate the Joe rule
Buffalo over Akron
Ole Miss over LSU
Payoff +117
Under parlay
Ole Miss @ LSU under 76.0
Western Kentucky @ Florida International under 77.0
Payoff +249
The Super Safe money line Parlay
Wyoming over New Mexico
UAB over Rice
scUM over Northwestern - just violating all the rules (except the one that counts the Big Al Rule)
Ohio State over Indiana
Penn State over Illinois
Payoff -278

Pitt -3.0 vs Clemson - Clemson is getting points? When is the last time you saw that - let alone in ACC action. The defense is fine but the offense is miserable. QB D.J. Uiagalelei has only 4 TD passes against three picks. He’ll face a tough test in the Panther defense that has the second-most sacks in the conference and holding opposing quarterbacks to 56.3 percent passing.
Pitt's QB Kenny Picket has lit up the scoreboard. He has only one game throwing under 300 yards.
The defenses are comparable but Pitt has the far better offense. I'll lay the points just so I can say I did against Clemson for a Mini Mega.
Oklahoma State +7.0 @ Iowa State - I had to do a double take when I saw this spread. A top 10 undefeated team getting a touchdown versus an unranked team.
I'm not out thinking this one. In a low scoring game the Cowboys will keep it close. I'll put a quatloo on them to cover and another to win out right.
UT San Antonio -6.5 @ La Tech - the undefeated 24th ranked team versus the 103rd best team - yeah I'll lay the points.
And for all the picks, spreads, times and much much more is the the 2021 Week 8 Bettors Guide
