After last week's rather weak slate of games, this week there are plenty of top teams squaring off.
And the week is already off to a great start. Last night, Miami, playing their back up quarterback quickly got behind Virginia. UVA pushed the lead to 27-14 on this fantastic TD catch.

But the Canes hung in there, cutting the deficit down to 30-28. On their final drive, they moved down to the Hoos 16 yard line setting up for a walk off winning FG.
And then this
And then this

DOINK! Not just any, graze the upright doink. A full faced, in your grill, back onto the field Doink!
If this weeks games are half as good as last night’s games we are in for a great weekend.
Six of the Top Ten teams square off starting at noon with:
#8 Arkansas +18.5 @ #2 Georgia – Georgia’s defense is really all that!. They have allowed a total of 23 points against Clemson, two SEC teams (OK one was Vandy) and perhaps the best team in the CUSA – UAB. Since the classic opening kickoff game against Clemson, UGA has won by an average 46 points.
And therein lies the problem. Turns out, Clemson is not really Clemson this year. Georgia really hasn’t played anyone.
Meanwhile, Arkansas is the biggest surprise of the 2021 seasin with wins over #15 Texas and #7 Texas A&M. With each win, the pressure increases. Now they face the biggest test of all in their first true road game (The A&M game was in Jerry’s Palace in Dallas) – taking on what I consider the best team in the land, between the hedges and a crowd pumped up by Game Day.
This spread is too big. Arkansas has a defense too, ranking #11 in points allowed and #12 overall. I’ll take the Razorback and take the points for a Mini Mega.

Then, while that game reaches a crescendo, at 2:30 it's:
#9 Notre Dame +1.5 vs #7Cincinnati - In a topsy turvy year, can a Group of Five team finally make the CFP? Cincinnati has been knocking on the door for awhile and now have a chance to knock off a blue blood ranked team.
The Bearcats enter this game 3-0, coming off of a bye week after taking down Indiana 38-24 on the road the week before. Notre Dame comes in at 4-0 after demolishing Wisconsin 41-13 last week.
For all the hype Cincinnati is getting, the offense is just mediocre. Notre Dame is OK against the run and stout versus the pass.
I’m going to take the points and the Domers. They are 10-1 ATS as hone dogs against teams with a .800 record or better. The Group of Five team to the playoff mantle passes to BYU.

Then at 3:30 it's:
#1 Alabama -14.5 vs #12 Ole Miss – OK Bama, You haven’t looked like the #1 team in the land and now Ole Miss with Matt Corral and company come to Tuscaloosa. Last year the Rebs came up with 647 yards in a wild 63-48. No one else in 2020 got to 470. This time around there’s a D to go along with that O - at least a slightly better defense.
If Corral can go all Johnny Manziel and take down Bama in a performance like last year you can just hand him the Heisman right now.
He won’t. Other than a late melt down versus Florida, The Tide defense has been fine. The problem has been the offense misses too many players from last year.
I’m going to take Bama and lay the points but no quatloos. I will lay a Mega bet on the under 80.0 though.

bSome other investments I like this week:
Texas -4.5 @ TCU – TCU is struggling on defense. The Texas offense is hitting on all cylinders lately. I’ll lay the points for a mini mega
Syracuse +4.5 @ Florida State – Syracuse just took down a good Liberty team. They don’t need points to beat a bad FSU
West Virginia ML over Texas Tech – The Neers are underrated. The defense will limit the Red Raiders for a win
And this weeks parlay bets
Using the spreads:
Arkansas +18.5 @ Georgia
Bama vs Ole Miss under 80.0 +249
Money Line parlay #1
App State over Georgia State
Florida over Kentucky
Oregon over Stanford +114
Money Line Parlay #2
Marshall over Middle Tenn State
Nebraska over Northwestern
Penn State over Indiana
UL Lafayette over South Alabama +122
Money Line Parlay #3
UCF over Navy
Oklahoma over Kansas State
BYU over Utah State
Army over Ball State +139
NFL Money Line Parlay
Cincinnati over Jacksonville - W
Buffalo over Houston
Kansas City over Philly
Green Bay over Pittsburgh +229
And the Sheriff likes:
UCLA (-3) vs Arizona State - The PAC-12 South is wide open this year, and the Baby Bruins will take sole possession of first place in the Division with a win over the Sun Devils.
Purdue (-2.5) vs Minnesota - Boilermakers roll on and stay undefeated in the BIG-10.
Colorado (+8.5) vs USC - The Condoms will be 0-3 in the PAC-12 after the Buffs kick their ass in Boulder on Saturday. The real question is who will be the next USC Head Coach? Luke Fickell? Urban Meyer? Chris Peterson? Mick Jagger? If the Trojans are looking for Mick, they should leave their number with the bartender at the Thirsty Beaver Saloon in Charlotte.
