Lombardi used his feet at just the right times It was a quintuple win weekend.
The biggest win was State over the Fighting Brucies. State did it the Northwestern way – solid defense and punishing run game. But they added a couple of twists, some deep throws and more importantly the QB run.
I’m sure you Spartan fans were disappointed when Lombardi trotted out as the starting QB. It was time to see what Thorne could do, why are wasting valuable snaps on Rocky? But it turned out to be the right move.
With the unscheduled bye the coaches got Lombardi to limit the stupid turnovers, no small feat. They also scouted how Nebraska stayed with NW, using the QB keeper. The coaching staff installed the QB option and designed draws using them at just the right time.
The defense stepped up too forcing four turnovers. We finally won the turnover margin 4-1.
It was a masterful job by the coaching staff setting up the players to win. And when things were going south after 20 straight points by the Cats, the team stepped up forcing a turnover, kicking the winning FG and then running out the clock.

And Patricia was a cancer in the locker room. The players despised playing for him. They couldn’t wait to get traded or sign with other teams. And it was well known throughout the league too. Good luck trying to sign players. It’s why we were stuck taking Patriot leftovers.

But at least Harbaugh did bring more good news to the weekend by losing to the previously winless Penn State. scUM is in melt down mode now. Won’t be long before the team totally quits on Booger.
Oh yeah, Tucker now has as many wins over Top Ten teams in this season as Harbaugh since coming to AA.
Let’s just hope they don’t target Harbaugh. Getting rid of an a$$hole loser like Patricia and replacing him with a truly weird loser like Harbaugh, yeah, that sounds like the Lions.

Add in some solid leftover dinners and it was the best Saturday in a long time!

A girl kicks a squib kick for Vandy and the sports world goes wild! I get it, it was a first. Still that wasn’t much of a kick. Anyone of us could do it, though we would have pulled a hammy right afterwards. For me, to be really meaningful she needs to score a point. That deserves the hoopla.
And for you other HCs thinking about going for a stunt, Vandy’s fired their HC the next day.
When is being a nice guy a bad thing? When you pull you star RB late in a blow out game keeping him from setting the record for rushing yards and TDs in a game.

You're taking me out now?? Buffalo’s Jaret Patterson rushed for 409 yards just short of Oklahoma’s Samaje Perine’s 427 yards and his 8 TDs tied Illinois’s Howard Griffith.
Patterson’s replacement ran for 19 yards and a TD. Someone needs to be tracking stats for the Bulls up in the press box.

Texas Tech and Oklahoma State were in the middle of a classic Big 12 shootout. The Cowboys tried to steal a possession by calling for an onside kick in the 3rd quarter.
Patterson’s replacement ran for 19 yards and a TD. Someone needs to be tracking stats for the Bulls up in the press box.

Chance punches it in ! Beavers win!! Last week it was Clemson, this week it was Virginia. For the second week in a row, a team showed up in Tallahassee, got off the bus and then were told to get right back on. FSU was cancelling the game.
Not sure what the penalty should be but a minimum FSU should pay the travel costs. Everyone else seems to figure out that they aren't able to play before the guests arrive.
There was quite a bit of drama in the "I still call it the Civil War" Oregon State kept trying to punch it in from the one. On third and goal starting QB Tristan Gebbia took a bad hit to the leg, fell short and was taken to the sideline in tremendous pain.
Backup QB Chance Nolan, who had not played a down all year nor had taken a snap under center during practice, was brought in. The announcers were saying no way does he go under center, the risk of a fumble was too great. He'll it from the shotgun and hand it off.
So what happens? Nolan goes under center and punches it in with 33 seconds left to win it 41-38. Fantastic ending to a great game.
But the PAC 12 lost any hope of having a team in the CFP. It was Ducks or die.

Annnnnd....its....just left. Iowa State never led at Texas until Breece Hall's 3-yard run with 1:25 left put the Cyclones ahead 23-20. Texas tried a 58 yard FG attempt as time expired. It had plenty of length, but veered just left at the tail-end.
