It was another televised scrimmage for State last week. On the first five drives they went fumble (recovered), pick, fumble lost, three and out and then pick. By the time that was all done we were down 17-0. Another punt later and it was 24-0, still in the first half.
The good news was we got to see backup QB Payton Thorne. He was adequate but at least not a turnover machine. Since he's a redshirt freshman you might as well see if you can develop him.
And that was all the scoring. The second half was 0-0. The defense is holding.
But if that is the best news we got, we ain't got much. This year at least.
At least it wasn't as bad as what Wiscy did to Michigan. It got so bad that this year's September Heisman, Joe Milton, was benched.
Nick is still having nightmares - Jet Sweep Right - Michigan defenders falling to the ground. Jet Sweep Left - Michigan defenders falling to the ground. Pitiful performance by the team you love to hate.

How bad was Harbaughs loss to Wisconsin?
Worst scoring margin - lost by 38
Worst yardage margin under Harbaugh - outgained by 249
Worst first down differential under Harbaugh - allowed 16 more first downs
Jim Harbaugh is now 0-11 as an underdog losing by an average of 19 PPG
It's not just Jimmy either - Worst Power 5 Win% as underdog last decade
1. Kansas: 9-81 SU (10%)
2. Michigan: 3-25 SU (10.7%)
I'm not above reveling in their pain. And as bad as we are we beat you.

The do things a little differently down here in the South. Michigan will let Jimmy hang on until the end of the season and then figure a way out of the remaining year of his contract. South Carolina, even in the middle of a weird Covid year, decided they had enough of Muschamp and let him go. Too bad. He's a good guy and players coach. The Big Guy is a big fan.
And how much fun would it be if the Cocks made a run at Liberty's Hugh Freeze. The SEC headquarters would have a melt down.
Other likely candidates include and Billy Napier at UL Lafayette and Jamey Chadwell at Coastal Carolina. Billy or Jamey, its a southern thing.
Their combined record, 14-1. Jamey beat Billy about a month ago.
That makes three head coach changes so far this year (Utah State and Southern Miss). Actually four, Southern Miss' first interim head coach left to be HC at Austin Peay. They are on their second interim HC. Just a weird year.

Can a coach be 2-0 and still be on hot seat? He can if he is at USC. The Trojans needed a TD with 0:25 left to beat a bad Arizona squad (AZ HC Sumlin is on the hot seat too). Boosters can't believe that they haven't made a run at Urban yet.
Justin Fuentes seat is getting pretty warm after blowing a 24-13 lead to Miami (FL). The Canes were missing 13 players, nearly cancelled the game and still beat the Hokies. Fuentes is 4-4 and that loss to Liberty is could be the one that does him in.
Bad teams that you can just go ahead and bet against
Syracuse 0-7 (Fred's going to put Dino down at the end of the year)
Kansas 0-7 (Remember when scUM fans wanted Les Miles)
Florida International 0-4 (Is Butch a Retiree in Training?)
Akron 0-2 (Zips haven't won since Oct 27, 2018)
Bowling Green 0-2 (Falcons are 8-30 since 2016)
Utah State 0-4 (firing Gary Andersen hasn't helped)
UL Monroe 0-8 (two games cancelled in a row - maybe they should just give up)

At least Mootsie can feel good about his team. I thought that Boston College would give the Domers some trouble. They did for most of the first half but an ND TD with four seconds left put them up 31-16 and they coasted from there.
I'm a believer. I have no qualms if they make the CFP. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Clemson in a rematch with St Trevor.
I actually might root for that. It would keep the door open for a Group of Five team to make the CFP. Teams that are knocking on the door (in my order)
1. Cincinnati 7-0
2. BYU 8-0
3. Liberty 8-0
4. Marshall 7-0
5. Coastal Carolina 7-0

And just when you thought you had seen it all - how about a pick six on a kickoff return
And say what you will about Lane Kiffen. He does get damn excited about a good play call.
I made a small profit on the weekend on the big safe parlay.
But I would have made big money on the aggressive parlay except Rutgers let me down. The Scarlet Knights were setting up for a winning FG, 1st and 10 at the Illinois 37. The stupid QB throws another pick (the previous drive ended on a pick too). Illinois takes it down to the Rutgers 29 and the Illini kicker, who had missed his last two FG attempts nails it to win. FML. I blame Dobbie.
