It’s not often you get to watch one era end and another begin in real time. The old guard of Brady Rodgers and Brees is done. Brees may have one more Super Bowl in him but Brady is done. It may very well be that his last play is a pick six. And the last time we saw Rodgers he had an anemic QBR of 22.3 with 3 sacks and 2 picks. He’s done playing Super Bowls too.

Russell Wilson was the first to emerge on the scene. Now he’s joined by Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes. They are the next Terrific Trio. Wilson has one Super Bowl win already, and should have two. How do you not give the ball to Marshawn Lynch at the goal line?

He can diagnose and dissect a defense as well as any quarterback in the league. And he can beat you with his feet just as easily as he can beat you with his arm. His incredible 27-yard run to pay dirta gainst the Titans in the AFC title game was an instant legend. Mahomes has become the gold standard by which all quarterbacks are now

The Giants were able to pressure Tom Brady ferociously with just four players, all while playing man coverage underneath. This has been the recipe for defeating elite quarterbacks over the years, and the 49ers will be able to utilize the same strategy against Mahomes.
However, there's one glaring difference between Mahomes and Brady. As great of a quarterback Brady has been throughout his career, he has never been a threat as a runner. Sure, he's terrific at sneaking the ball on fourth down or across the goal line, but he couldn't scramble for chunk yardage repeatedly like Mahomes can. This gives Mahomes a chance to beat the 49ers' defense.
San Francisco has battled just two mobile quarterbacks with experience this year: Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson. Wilson and Jackson were collectively 2-1 against the 49ers, and they would've been 3-0 had Jacob Hollister not been tackled an inch shy of the goal line.
And it's for that reason that I'm taking the Chiefs. Mahomes has been magic this season. Nothing phases him Down 24-0? No problem. He has found a way to win reeling off eight straight wins
