All right – time for the Big Boys to start playing each other. After last week’s Golden Corral endless buffet of cream puffs we finally have some main course, class A games. The biggest game, the one the Saxy Lady has been waiting for since the end of last season is:
Georgia -14.5 vs Notre Dame – The Saxy lady is more excited than the last time she found a stray kitten. The Domers coming down to play between the hedges! It’s likely the first play in game for the CFP. Win and your still in. Lose and ooof, not good.
Both teams have been loading up the stats on against a bunch of middlin’ to nothing teams. Notre Dame rolled Louisville and New Mexico while Georgia took down the worst team in the SEC, Vandy, along with Arkansas State and FCS Murray State. This will be the first real test for both teams.
Notre Dame QB Ian Book is efficient and will test a solid UGA secondary. Despite a very nice OL, the run game is not quite there so Book will need to come through with his arm.
Georgia is everything what you would expect for the #3 team in the land. Fromm leads a good air attack but will be challenged by an excellent Domer secondary. The run game features an NFL caliber RB in D’Andre Swift. If the Domer defense has a flaw it’s ability to stop the run.
UGA is solid all around. Notre Dame has a few chinks in running and stopping the run. But is it worth nearly two TDs? When the advance spread came out I was hoping to lay a quatloo on the Dawgs laying 2 TDs. The Westgate didn’t have the games posted when I got there but I like it even better at 13.5. Still for a quatloo though. Georgia may be fired up but so will ND with a chance to knock off a top tier SEC in their crib. That and the hook scares me.

Wisconsin -3.5 vs scUM – Both teams should be well rested for this game after a couple light workouts and then a week off last week. For Wisconsin, they got through their light workouts with nary a dent. They obliterated South Florida and Central Michigan.
Meanwhile, scUM was challenged by Middle Tenn State and needed OT to beat Army. It’s a mystery to me after struggling to beat those two teams they are still ranked #11.
For all the hype about the new OC and speed in space, the offense is disfunctional. scUM’s latest September Heisman is a fumbling machine. They’ve coughed it up 5 times already (the most in college football) versus 3 all last year. Patterson claims it’s due to an oblique injury he suffered in the first drive against MTSU and he’s fully healthy now. We will find out.
The passing game isn’t picking up the slack with Peoples-Jones out. He’s uncertain for the game.
It will be strength on strength when a real September Heisman candidate, the Badgers RB Jonathan Taylor squares off against the scUM rush defense. Hd ran for 101 yards against a better scUM defense last year. He should put up similar numbers.
The line says these teams are about even given the game is at Camp Randall. They could be if injuries were really holding back scUM. I don’t think so. This is an inferior team to last year and is about to get exposed. Put me down for a Mini Mega. Don’t want to jinx Bucky with a Mega and I don’t want to fall to the hook yet again this year.
Investors Note: Not surprisingly, scUM is overrated. They are on on a 6 game losing streak ATS. 1-8 ATS on the road.

Texas A&M -3.5 vs Auburn – Two teams that actually faced someone this year. A&M went to Clemson and got smoked 24-10. A last minute Aggie TD made the score looking closer than it was. Auburn QB Bo Nix had a great coming out party, leading Auburn with a heroic comeback win over Oregon in the Chick-fil-A kickoff classic.
Since then Nix has struggled with the passing game, barely 50% of his passes. Auburn will continue to rely on its ground game but A&M is stout, it held Clemson to 127 rushing yards.
Aggie Kellen Mond has had difficulties against Auburn completing 50% of his passes for 220 yards last year and 5-11 in his freshman year.
In a game where both teams will attempt to control the clock with the ground game it could come down to the punting game. Auburn is terrible – 127th in the nation.
I’ll take Auburn to be on the right side of the Big Guy and the hook. No quatloos though.
Investors Note: Conflicting trends here. The road team is 6-0-1 ATS but Jimbo is on a 13-3 ATS win streak.

Texas -5.5 vs Oklahoma State – the Auburn game may be a low scoring slug fest but this one figures to be a typical Big 12 scoring extravaganza. Okie State has cruised through its non conference schedule averaging nearly 50 points a game, although they did fall behind Tulsa 21-20 before scoring 21 unanswered to put the game away.
The Cowboys have the nations leading rusher in Chuba Howard with 521 yards on the season so far. WR Tylan Wallace leads the Big 12 in yards (390) and TDs (6). Freshman QB Spencer Sanders is hitting 67% of his passes and should have a field day against a Longhorn that’s the worst in the Big 12 (not an easy feat)
Texas is no slouch on offense either. QB Sam Ehlinger averages 319 YPG passing (11th overall) and is one of only 3 QBs with 11 TDs and no picks so far on the season.
Neither team has a secondary worthy of scholarships and tackle like they are allergic to it.
The favorite is 8-2 ATS in this game so I’ll take Texas but no quatloos.
For fun, I’ll lay a quatloo on the over 73.0

No Mega bets this week until I get things figured out. But I will do several Mini Megas. It turned out to be the right strategy at last years GO JUMBO trip.
Boston College -8.5 @ Rutgers – What was that? BC was a 3 TD favorite against a Kansas squad that had not beaten a Power 5 team in 48 straight contests and just got smoked. Kansas had a week off prior to the contest and must have figured things out. Rutgers is coming off a week too so will history repeat itself?
Nah, I’ll go with the bounce back scenario. Also, it’s a must win for the Eagles. Lose and a bowl bid becomes unlikely.
BC was winning at the half before Kansas shut the offense down cold. Rutgers can’t do that.
Cal -2.0 @ Ole Miss – Cal went up to Washington and Seattle and knocked off Washington. The Rebs are not Washington.
Toledo -9.0 @ Colorado State – Pure technical analysis on this one. Let’s see if the system works.
Detroit +7.0 @ Philadelphia – What idiot would ever bet on the Lions? This idiot when getting a TD.
The Eagles are missing two key DLs, Malik Jackson and Timmy Jernigan, letting Kerryon Johnson have running roiom and Stafford to find Kenny Golladay deep against a suspect eagle secondary. T.J. Hockenson should have a good day against Philly’s LBs that are having trouble covering in space.
The Sheriff is coming off a 1-2 week. One of the losses is on me when I took one as a Mega Bet. Won’t jinx the Sheriff again. Here’s his picks

Utah (-4) @ USC - The SC defensive line looked old and slow trying to contain BYU QB Zach Wilson last week and had great difficulty stopping BYU’s running game. How will it fare against an even better QB in Tyler Huntley and an amazing running back in Utah’s Zach Moss?
The Utes will win and take control of the PAC-12 South.
Urban Meyer will be covering the game as part of the Fox broadcasting crew and will get an advance look at the players he will be coaching in the spring as the Condom’s new HC.
it has been over 100 years since Utah beat USC in LA (1916) but as Neil Young once sang, “Tonight’s the Night”. The Condoms are going down
Wisconsin (-3.5) vs Michigan - Michigan’s offense has looked pathetic and Wisconsin’s defense has literally not given up a point in 2 games so far. Badgers win.
Wazzu (-18.5) vs UCLA - The Dread Pirate Leach gets his first conference win against the worst team in the PAC-12. This is the easiest game on the Board this week. Cougs cruise and easily cover.
