Las Vegas Bowl – Boise State +3.5 v Washington – It’s the Chris Petersen Bowl. Petersen was the head coach for Boise for the 2011-2013 season going 92-12. He leveraged that into the Washington head coaching position where he went 54-26. At the end of this season he “stepped down”. DC Jimmy Lake will take over after this game.
Even though Petersen won the PAC 12 twice it always seemed that the team always underperformed. This year the Huskies disappointed with a 7-5 campaign resulting in the end of an era.
Part of the reason was an offense that was miserable. There was a reason Georgia moved on from Jacob Eason. He’s OK but not great. He’ll be missing his leading receiver TE Hunter Bryant as well as his blind side protector LT Trey Adams.

All respect for Memphis but Boise State is miffed that they aren’t the Group of Five champs. They beat six bowl eligible teams including a ranked Air Force squad.
The offense keeps the chains moving converting on 49% of their chances, compared to Washington’s last in the PAC 12 34%.
It’s been a revolving door at QB for Boise as three players – Hank Bachmeier, Jaylon Henderson and Chase Cord – made starts in 2019. Bachmier has been the best but is inujred. Henderson has started the last four games, with 7 TDs against just 1 pick but his a bit under the weather for this game. No matter who starts he will has his hands full as UW has allowed only 20.4 points per game (23rd overall).
Wouldn’t it be cool if Petersen coached each team for a half. He won’t. He’ll be on the Husky sideline for the entire game. UW will be fired up to send him out with a win but it won’t be enough. Boise State will cover. I’ll lay a Mini Mega on it.

R+L Carriers Bowl – UAB +17.0 vs Appalachian State – App State is another team miffed to not be in a NY6 bowl game. A gaffe to Georgia Southern on Halloween knocked them out of contention. It’s was their lone blemish on a great season.
The Mountaineers are solid on both sides of the ball. The average 39.4 points, 9th overall, and limitg opponents to 20.2 points per game, 22nd overall.
With success comes adversity. HC Eli Drinkwitz has left to coach Missouri. Interim HC Shawn Clark will be the third head coach in two years.
UAB’s defense is stellar in all areas, ranking 13th in against the run, and 14th against the pass. But the offense struggles. They score a mere 23.6 PPG (100th overall)
App State should roll but 17 points is a bit much against the Blazer defense. I’ll take UAB for a quatloo.
