State was hanging tough I wasn’t watching. I was in Disney with Mrs Doofus, the Big Guy and Mrs Big Guy. I was just hoping that the Spartans would make the game respectable. Make it close. Don’t get blown out and start a death spiral.
Everything angle you could think of said that the Nits were going to win and win big. They were coming off a bye, lost a heartbreaker to Ohio State and would come out firing. Plus, it was a revenge game at home. And oh yeah, Franklin is a douche and likes to run up the score.
But there was one angle I didn’t count on. Dantonio with his back to the wall and a bit too much starch in his shorts.

Felton with his knees for the grab During dinner, I couldn’t handle it anymore. I started following the play by play on my cell type phone. What the hey? State was hanging around. Refresh, refresh, refresh. They might just send this into OT.
We finished dinner and headed over to the ESPN Club. Mrs. Big Guy wondered if we might be able to see the game from the outside. The line was way too long to get in but maybe we could peek in on a screen close by.
I told her “Naw, they didn’t even have the ESPN games on the other night until we asked. No way would they have the BTN on”
Mrs Big Guys strolls by “There it is! That screen right in front. Your Spartans are on!”
Son of a bees wax. She was right. And just in time too. We got there just as Lewerke hit Nelson for a first down. Two plays later ...

Before the game we were discussing what was the most memorable thing during our trip. Mine was, similar to the Nashville Hotel special edition Jack Daniels bottle, was getting a Disney select Knob Creek bottle (I’ll explain at GO JUMBO) but now that paled to the game.

The Big Ten East is still in play and a New Years Day game is back on the radar. Amazing what can happen in a week.

Never doubt Dantonio with that chip on his shoulder Now I’m in a pickle though. Not watching the game led to a huge upset victory. Does that mean I can’t watch the scUM game? I have the gang over for food, bourbon, cigars and football on the Doofus Deck this weekend. Do I dare not show MSU? Can I avoid it if I do?

And it totally made me not care about the disastrous picks. I went 4-11 in college and 1-3 in the NFL. 0-2 on the Megas. In a week where only 3 Top 25 teams covered including Bama by a point and Texas A&M by half a point, I took way too many favorites on the road. A lesson I relearn every year.
