The pass defense finally broke down around 1:30 am ET What a crappy weekend for football. Just about everyone’s alma mater got beat. MSU, Purdue, Northwestern, Georgia Tech. I know, I hear you Saxy Lady, the Dawgs won big in a big game. But the rest of us were miserable.
The Saxy Lady is chuckling at our misery.
The Big Flippy was in complete melt down on Sunday after the game, claiming that we are on our way to 2016 results. That’s a bit extreme. To me, our methodology of winning close games backfired when we were playing on fumes at 2:00 in the morning body clock time. I blame the AD for scheduling the game. Hopefully we can get a noon game in Spartan Stadium in return.
The offense struggles in the red zone primarily due to miscues and deficiencies in the OL. But the defense was superb, until 1:30 in the morning that is. Lewerke, Davis and Scott (who was dinged up and missed most of the game) will get the red zone things fixed. The defense will be fine. We are a 9-3 team not a 3-9 team. Going to the playoffs was a long shot anyways so get ready for a New Years Day type Bowl. It’s what we were really headed for all along.

The league had enough of the clown show The worst was the Lions on Monday night. The offense sucks, the defense sucks and special teams are the worst in the league – by a huge margin. I texted the gang that it’s between the Lions and Buffalo for the number one pick next April. I thought before the game that they would be lucky to win four games. I may have been a tad high.

A Hall of Fame performance The wagering continues to misfire too. Overall, I went 12-8 on wagered games. 2-1 on Mini Megas and 9-5 on quatloo games. But going 1-2 on the Mega Bet game meant another loss overall this week. Got to get the Mega Bets fixed or dial them back.
Arkansas -13.5 @ Colorado State – The Hogs were up 27-9 midway through the 3rd quarter. Things were looking good. Then they decided to stop playing college football. CSU rallied to win outright 34-27 LOSS
San Francisco +6.5 @ Minnesota – The Niners were awful at the start. The fumbled at the Vikings goal line, dropped an easy TD pass in the end zone and had a pick 6. Pick sixes are killing me this year.
But then they rallied from a 24-6 deficit, cutting the lead to 24-16. They stopped the Vikings with 3 minutes left. It was fourth and one at the Viking 41. Cousins lines up under center with an obvious intent to try to draw the Niners offsides. I knew, you knew it, even the announcers knew it. But apparently, Solomon Thomas didn’t know it. He jumped on a hard count. Idiot.
The Niners finally do get the ball back at the 2 minute warning without any time outs and promptly through a pick. It was Garapollo’s third pick of the day. Groan. LOSS
Chicago +7.5 @ Green Bay – From a fan’s perspective it was a great, high drama game. Rodgers is carted off. Then he returns, down 17 points. Hobbling on one foot, he leads his team to thrilling, last minute win. It was classic Rodgers. The highlight reel will be included in his induction ceremony.
From a bettor’s perspective it was a yawner. When the Bears got up 20-3 it was over. I just sat back and enjoyed the fireworks WIN
