They all count one. That was Dantonio quoting Perles.
True, but there is a lot of work to do. The offensive line didn't dominate and the secondary was "You can fly zone - just in coach though"
The good news was the breakout of Ironhead Jr at RB. LJ was too hesitant but at least hung on to the ball.
And Felton Davis looked amazing. The NFL is going to take a long look.
State showed that knack for winning close games. Needing a score, they got the ball with five minutes to go, went on a patented clock killing drive and punched it in. Then, Joe Bachie iced it with a fantastic pick.
State likes to play close games and nailed another one.

There’s two marquee matchups and three more great under card games today.
Michigan -1.0 @ Notre Dame – It’s a matchup of the annually most overrated teams with the two most victories over high schools, quilting bees and rehab centers.
Shea Patterson is overrated too but I’ll take Michigan’s defense over the Domers D making some key replacements. And I will lay the point on the road. No quatloos though and I’ll be cheering for an ugly game with some critical injuries.
Washington +2.0 vs Auburn – Lots of story lines in this game. Pundits have put the reputation of the PAC 12 on Washington’s shoulders. Lose and “Football after Dark” becomes meaningless. Win and the PAC 12 opens a spot in the playoffs.
For Auburn, it’s can they break up the SEC love fest for Georgia and Bama and let the world know there’s a 3rd player in the conference. Lose and just put those two in the SEC championship game.
Both QBs will play on Sundays. Both defenses are loaded. This will be the best game of the weekend.
I’ll take the Huskies and their better OL as the Tigers lose three straight huge games in Atlanta. No quatloos. I fear the wrath of the Big Guy.

And for the undercard games:
Miami (FL) -3.5 vs LSU – With all the focus on Georgia and Bama, and with Auburn trying to break into the discussion, LSU is saying “Don’t forget about us. Win this and they are in the discussion. Lose and Ed Orgeron seat starts getting hot.
Miami (FL) got the football world’s attention last year starting 10-0 and then lost three straight. But expectations remain high as the Canes start out ranked 8th.
The defenses are evenly matched but I’ll take the Canes and lay the points. Miami brings back potent Travis Homer at running back while LSU is replacing their top two rushers. Plus, Miami returns QB Malik Rosier while LSU is going with the inexperienced Joe Burrow at QB.
Put me down for a quatloo
Va Tech +7.5 @ Florida State – HC Willie Taggert returns to the Sunshine State after a little side trip to Eugene. But there is no honeymoon period. The Noles were expecting to go to the playoffs last year and weren’t all that upset when Jimbo left after missing out again.
Va Tech is staying under the ACC radar that assumes it’s Clensom’s race to lose with Miami (FL) rise to prominence taking the rest of the attention.
QB Josh Jackson returns for Va Tech while FSU gets back star QB Deondre Francois who missed last year after a devastating injury against Bama.
I’ll take the Hokies and the hook for a quatloo.

Alabama -24.5 vs Louisville – 49-14, 35-7, 24-20, 38-14 those were the final scores for Petrino at Arkansas against Alabama. He 0-4 with three blow out losses and one decent game.
Bama has a way of blowing out big name schools in week 1. Last year it was 24-7 over Florida State. In 2016 they destroyed USC 52-6. Wisconsin went down 35-17 in 2015. Va Tech went down 35-10 in 2013. Labor Day has been very, very good for the Tide.
It’s Bama, they replace NFL talent on defense with more NFL talent. And they will be even more amped up when Petrino said that his offensive line is capable of dominating Bama’s DL. Yeah, uh no. That won’t happen.
Doesn’t matter who the starting QB is for the Tide they will pound away at the Cardinal defense and cover. Put me down for a quatloo.

And for the first Mega Bets of the season I’ll go with:
Bowling Green @ Oregon under 72.5 – This isn’t the high octane Quack attack of prior years and I doubt that Bowling Green will get more than two scores against the Duck defense. This liune is about 15 points too high.
Arizona -10.5 vs BYU – I’m with the Sheriff on this one. BYU’s offense under Ty Detmer was awful last year. QB Tanner Magnum returns but that’s about it. They had to take QBs and comvert them to RBs because they are so thin at the position
Meanwhile, Zona returns the electric Khalil Tate under the tutelage of new HC Kevin Sumlin. Sumlin knows how to turn QBs iunto superstars – just ask Johnny Football.
I’ll lay the points at home as Tate ramps up the Heisman buzz.

I’ll put some Mini Megas on:
Cal -7.0 vs UNC – 13 players out for the Heels as they travel cross country. Bears roll
Boise State -10.0 @ Troy – The Broncos are likely the best Group of 5 team this year. They dominate a solid Fun Belt team
And to complete the Point Whore Parlay I’ll take:
Central Michigan +17.5 @ Kentucky – CMU likes to hang with Power 5 teams just ask Oklahoma State and Michigan State. They’re solid this year and stay within 2 TDs.
UNLV +26.5 @ Southern Cal – Going against the Sheriff. UNLV is a tough out and hankgs with a Trojan team looing to replace Sam Darnold and RB Ronald Jones.
