Turnovers killed MSU Good times were had at Chris’ Beach Command. I got some brownie points with Mrs. Doofus by having a nice walk on the beach. Timed, of course, to be back before the games started.
Week 4 Recap:
How about if we just forget the Michigan State game. A young team, went onto the big stage, the lights go on and they flop. 3 turnovers led to 21 points, let alone fumbling on the lip which cost another. Definitely a learning experience.
The goal for the season now is to 1. learn how to hang on the ball! and 2. get bowl eligibility to get those extra practices and learn how to hang onto the ball.
Iowa and Michigan are up next. Don't let things get ugly. They won't. The wins may not come yet but State will get better each week.
Vandy started to get the notion that, maybe , just maybe, they had something special going on this year. Bama came in, like they normally do, and gut stomped all over that notion. And for good measure pissed all over their dirty laundry.
By the time the Tide was done they held the Dores to 3 first downs and 78 yards of total offense and blew out Vandy 59-0.
The Sax Man and Saxy Lady had tickets to the game. They got rid of them and watched games on TV. Smart move.
Georgia is now this year’s official SEC contender to try and knock off Bama. Mississippi State came to Athens with an idea of being this year’s it story.

TCU put an end to the talk of the Oklahoma - Oklahoma State Bedlam series being a game for the ages. They went to Stillwater and put on a clinic on how to stop the Poke attack. Final score Horny Toads 47 Pokes 31.
Add in Oklahoma's struggle to put away a bad Baylor team, all of a sudden TCU is starting to look like the best team in the Big 12.
The Big 12 champion looks like it may get determined when TCU travels to Norman. The date? You guessed it. GO JUMBO
Boise State is not the Boise State of old. Friday night Virginia traveled to the smurf turf and dominated 42-23. Coming into the game the Cavs were 1-21 on the road.
Oregon was starting to look like Oregon. They were 3-0 and averaging 56 points per game. They went down to Tempe giving 14 points to Arizona State, who were 1-2 with HC Todd Graham firmly on the hot seat. Sparky wins 37-35.
Washington looks like they made have reloaded. After a shaky start in week 1 against Rutgers they have been dominant. On Saturday they went to Boulder in a night game against a solid Buffs team and rolled to a 37-10 win.
Penn State didn't look like the #4 team in the country. They won the game on a TD the final play of the game to edge Iowa. Exciting game and Iowa likes to take down ranked teams in their crib. But that was a little too close for comfort.
The Doofus had another good week. The picks were break even but the betting was superb. I went 2-1 on the Mega Bets with:

BLOCKED!!! Wake wins Wake Forest -3.5 @ Appalachian State - With 10 seconds left App State missed a FG from the 27. But Wake was offsides. The Mountainers lined up for a 2nd FG.
