Work has the Doofus back on the road again. The nerve of some people - making me earn a paycheck. Don't they realize that it will affect my illustrious picking this year. That Vegas will now be able to abuse my thousands (well, maybe a dozen at best) fans and handicappers.
At least I have a ready made excuse when the picks start going south. They were going to anyways but, you know work and all.......
Here's some of the better/bigger games this week.
Georgia -7.5 @ Tennessee – OK Georgia, you got our attention. Your defense was fantastic in taking the belt to Mississippi State. Now it’s time to prove that you are ready to take the SEC East and have a shot at Bama for the SEC’s slot in the playoffs.
Win this and Butch Jones’ hot seat thermostat ratches up even further. The Vols blew it against Florida and played it way too close against UMass last week.
It’s a revenge game for the Dawgs after Tennessee beat them on a Hail Mary last year. I’ll take Georgia to cover and put a Mini Mega on it too.

Va Tech +7.5 vs Clemson - easily the biggest game of the week is Clemson's trip to Blacksburg to take on Va Tech. It’s a rematch of the last years ACC championship game. In that game, the Hokies got down early before rallying to make it 42-35 making the last couple of minutes very exciting.
Now the game will game will be in Lane Stadium, at night, Sandman blasting, the place will be electric. The line is about right. I’ll take Va Tech but no quatloos. Just want to root for Va Tech.
Mississippi State +9.0 @ Auburn – This game was going to be much more high profile until Georgia pooped in the punch bowl. Now it’s for 2nd in the SEC West.
Forget the Bulldogs last week. This is still a pretty good team. And Auburn is more like the team that destroyed Missouri last week thn the one that struggled to put away Mercer.
Nine points is too much to lay on this game. I’ll take the other MSU. And even though the Big Guy is out of town this weekend, I’ll pass on putting a quatloo on it.

Texas Tech +9.5 @ Oklahoma State – Just sit back and enjoy the Fourth of July. When these two get together there’s more fireworks that at the Georgia - South Carolina border.
Last year, Okie State won 45-44 when Texas Tech missed the extra point. The year before OSU won 70-53. In 2015 it was 45-35. 2014, OSU 52-34. You get the point.
This year, Texas Tech comes in undefeated after having defeated Arizona State and Houston. OSU is feeling the pain after putting their playoff hopes into intensive care by losing to TCU last week.
9.5 points is too much to lay, especially on the road. I’ll take the Red Raiders for a quatloo.
Vegas is expecting a fun game. The Over/Under is set at 83.0 with most of the money being bet on the over.
Central Florida -4.0 vs Memphis – The best group of Five game this week features UCF, who beat Maryland vs Memphis who upset UCLA.
At the turn, South Florida is leading for New Year’s six spot with San Diego State nipping at their heels. These two undefeated teams are waiting for those two to slip up so they can slip in.
Tiger QB Riley Ferguson put up some gaudy numbers last year and turned a lot of heads when he outduelled UCLA’s Josh Rosen. UCF’s defense will be up to the challenge. They are a little better on offense and defense. Being at home I’ll drop a quatloo on the Knights.
For this week’s Mega Bets I’ll go with:

For this week’s Mega Bets I’ll go with:

Navy -8.0 @ Tulsa – Tulsa, losing to OK State is OK, losing a shootout to Toledo is acceptable too but losing to New Mexico? Not only that but giving up 338 yards to a mediocre Lobo rushing attack. Tulsa ranks 126th is stopping the rush.
Navy comes in having just ripped Cincinnati for 569 yards rushing. Not a typo, 569 yards. The Middies are humming. This one could get ugly fast. I’ll lay the points on the road.
Philadelphia +2.0 @ LA Chargers – Phil River’s losing streak continued again last week when they lost by 2 TDs to the Chiefs.
The Eagles are not as good as the Chiefs but they are close.
And forget about a home field advantage. The Chargers didn’t have one in San Diego and certainly don’t have one in LA.
The Eagles strong OL will negate the Chargers only strength – their DL. Carson Wentz will torch the poor Charger secondary as Zach Ertz has a big day. And La Garrette Blount will put up some good fantasy points against LA’s next to worst rushing defense.
The Chargers will lose again, it’s just a matter by how much.

LA Rams +7.0 @ Dallas – Repeat after me “The Cowboys do not have the best OL in the NFL”
Despite what the talking heads want you to believe the Dallas OL is somewhere in the low teens best. They were great last year but lost two players to free agency. It’s the main reason Ezekial Elliott has struggled this year
The Rams have the advantage in the trenches and will contain Zeke. Meanwhile, Jared Goff spent the offseason in the film room and is much better this year.
Add in that LA has had extra time resting coming off a Thursday game while Dallas played on Monday gives the Rams extra energy.
I’ll take the points.

I'll take some Mini Megas too on
Detroit +2.0 @ Minnesota - The Lions are pissed off after getting screwed in last week's game versus the Falcons. Sam Bradford is out while the Lions get back LB Jarrad Davis. I'll take the points as Detroit rebounds
Indianapolis +13.0 @ Seattle - Seattle's defense is overrated and their OL is a mess. Colt QB Jacoby Brissett is a huge upgrade over Scott Tolzien. How in the world are the Seahens favored by 13? They are 1-2 with the lone win a 3 point win over the Niners.
For this weeks Point Whore Parlay I'll go with:
Arizona State +17.0 @ Stanford
Colorado +7.0 @ UCLA
Vanderbilt +9.5 @ Florida

The Sheriff is going with:
USC (-3.5) @ Washington State. Wazzu is 4-0 but hasn’t really played anyone of consequence yet, whereas the Condoms have had back-to-back close games against Texas and Cal. Pullman is a tough place to play, but the Sheriff thinks USC will tough out another close win. Ronald Jones II is expected back at RB for USC.
Colorado (+7) @ UCLA. After getting clobbered by Stanford 58-34 last week, UCLA is reeling and looking at another disastrous season that will probably cost Jim Mora his job. Colorado RB Phillip Lindsay should have a huge day against one of the worst run defenses in the country. Rosen will put points on the board for UCLA but look for the Buffs to pull off the upset.
San Diego State (-11) vs Northern Illinois. This is a large number to cover and the Huskies are not a bad club, but the Sheriff likes Rashaad Penny and the Aztecs to keep rolling.

The Sax Man weighed in with:
After a week off, it was nice to get the return of some Yellow Jacket football! In hindsight, it looks like the Jackets dodged a bullet not having to play UCF...
Did not enjoy the parlay last week with the lines. Gonna stick solely to the money line and try for a little more modest payout.
Saxman's Money lines Picks of the Week are:
Green Bay (-400) -
Atlanta (-425)
New England (-500)
Tennessee (-125)
Other two Bets I like:
MTSU (-3) over FAU:
In what was supposed to be a polishing year for our ol' buddy Lane, the Owls have not exactly had the type of year that will have Power 5 Athletic Directors calling. Granted, FAU has had some bad luck with a hurricane interrupting scheduling and their starting QB lost to blood clots.
A good MTSU team comes down to Boca Raton, and the only reason I'm worried about this line is that maybe the Blue Raiders have a little too much fun in South Beach Friday night.
Vanderbilt (+9.5) over Florida:
Between Vandy, MTSU, and the Titans this week maybe Nashville is starting to influence my decisions. Nevertheless, I can't imagine Florida beating anyone in the SEC by 10 right now.
Florida just won't be able to score enough to cover against a Vandy defense that I promise is good even though they got schellacked by Bama. But it's Bama. And Bama does that sometimes.
