It was another great weekend for the Doofus, going 41-26-0 overall. More importantly, going 3-0 again on the Mega Bets for the week.
OK State -12.5 @ Pitt – This was too easy. The Pokes jumped to a 49-7 lead before coasting to a 59-21 win. I texted Bruce at the half “This line was way off. Someone in Vegas is being taken out back and getting an Italian makeover” WIN
Iowa State -9.5 @ Akron – Unlike the OK State game, I was a little nervous at the half. The Zippies had cut the ISU lead to 20-14. The Cyclones blew it wide open in the 2nd half winning 41-14 WIN
Tennessee -2.0 @ Jacksonville – Another tight one at the half as the Titans led 6-3. Then it was all Tennessee as they coasted to a 37-16 WIN

Mr. H was impressed by the sheriff’s picks as he began to turn it around going 2-1.
Cal +3.5 vs Ole Miss – Ole Miss was leading 16-7 at the half but then the Cal defense (Cal has a defense?) pitched a shut out in the second half. Bears went on to win 27-16 WIN
Purdue +7.5 @ Missouri – Easy money for the Sheriff. The game was never in doubt as the Boilers dominated in a 35-3 WIN
UCLA -3.0 @ Memphis – Perhaps the best game of the entire weekend. In a wild back and forth shootout, the Tigers scored with 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter to go up 48-45. UCLA then marched down to the Memphis 19 but threw a pick. Memphis then went down to the UCLA 16 and promptly threw a pick too.
With 2 minutes left, the Bruins had one last chance to win or force OT. They marched to midfield and then, the pass on 4th and 5 was incomplete. Tigers held on to win 48-45 LOSS
Some thoughts after week 3:
Texas may have finally started to turn things around. After stumbling badly in a week 1 loss to Maryland, it blew out San Jose State and then forced overtime on USC before losing 27-24 in double OT
Washington contines to cruise this year. Special teams are a big help as Dante Pettis tied the all punt return for TD record on this doozy.

Last year Western Michigan was the team from the Group of 5 to make it to a New Year's day bowl. This year it will likely come down to either the winner of Memphis - South Florida in the American Conference championship game or, drum roll please, San Diego State.
The Spaztecs downed Stanford (that USC beat down doesn't look quite as good now, does it?) 20-17. With a win over Arizona State, SDSU is now 2-0 against the PAC 12. RB Rashad Penny is the real deal. He already has 588 yds rushing and averaging 8.3 yards per attempt.
Kansas is once again, awful this year. Not only are they 0-2 against the MAC. They have lost by a combined score of 87-57. The game against Baylor on the GO JUMBO weekend may be their only chance at a victory this year.
It may have been an exciting ending but Tennessee put on a clinic on how NOT to prevent the Hail Mary. No one deep, play man to man tight at the line of scrimmage, blown coverage on their best WR... it was awful. The hot seat for Butch Jones just went to flaming.

I was never a big fan of the hiring of Mike Reilly by Nebraska. Unfortunately for Husker fans he's proving me right. A tight win over Arkansas State, then a loss to Oregon that was worse than the score indicates and now a loss to Northern Illinois? At home?? Nebraska is a mess right now
His former team, Oregon State is even worse shape. The fighting Beavs are now 0-3 against Div 1A teams losing by a combined score of 158-64.
The SEC is Bama and everyone else hoping to knock them off. Auburn looked like the team that might do it, but with Doofus Daughter #2 in the stands, the Tigers struggled against her Mercer Bears. So the contender title now goes to, tah dah - Mississippi State. The other MSU physically man handled LSU 37-7.
Miss State gets a chance they see if they are #2 in the SEC. They have a Dawg fest against Georgia between the hedges this week and then travel to Auburn next week. Win both and they are the wonder story of the year.
Clemson just earned a get out of jail free card with that impressive win over Louisville. Even if they trip up along the way, win the ACC and they are in.
Another spot is likely going to the winner of the Bedlam game between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Both are steamrolling their way through the season.
The 3rd spot will go to Bama, Auburn or Mississippi State. Unless Georgia wins out , then they get the SEC's spot.
Which means the PAC 12 and Big Ten are fighting for the fourth spot. The Big 12 tarnished both resumes. Oklahoma beat Ohio State and Texas forced OT on USC.
